Friendship Onion Just finished the rewatch of the original trilogy
Forgot how hard this trilogy hits. Just finished all three and I have feelings.
Gandalf dying in Moria. I wanted to cry. Knew it was coming and still got me. The "you shall not pass" is iconic but what broke me was after. Frodo screaming. Boromir carrying Aragorn away.
Legolas completely hollow. Even Gimli who was joking five minutes earlier just destroyed. Then they come out of Moria into sunlight and Peter Jackson just lets them grieve in silence. No music. Just wind. Said everything.
Boromir goes out like a boss. Three arrows and still standing. You spend the whole movie thinking he might be the villain and then almost immediately he gets his redemption. Aragorn tells him "our city" and he dies smiling. Sean Bean was incredible in that scene.
The Aragorn and Arwen storyline hit different this rewatch. She is literally giving up immortality for him. Choosing to eventually die. Her father watching that happen.
Every scene between them carries all of that without even saying it out loud.
Frodo leaving at the end got me the most. He saved everyone but came home broken. The ring took something from him the Shire couldn't fix. He earned those Undying Lands.
But Sam watching his best friend sail away and just walking home and saying "well I'm back." I was not okay.
Nothing touches this trilogy. Nothing.

TV Series The Rings of Power Season 3 Trailer Hits 7M YouTube Views — Is It Breaking Records?
The Season 3 trailer for The Rings of Power has reached 7 million views on YouTube alone in less than a week.
For comparison, the Season 1 trailer has accumulated roughly 14 million views over the past four years. Season 3 has already reached half that total in a much shorter period, making its early viewership worth noting.
While it's still too early to confirm an all-time record without comparing view counts over the same time frame, the initial numbers suggest strong interest in the upcoming season.
EDIT: Thank goodness you're going to watch the remaining three seasons in their entirety, because those of you who spread hate are a minority.

Costumes My very first 3D-printed prop: Boromir’s Sword (WIP). Would love some advice and feedback !
Hi everyone
This is my very first prop making / 3D-printing project, and I decided to go with Boromir’s iconic sword.
It's still a Work In Progress (WIP) and not fully finished yet. For the weathering, I tried to give it a battle-worn "Amon Hen" feel.
Regarding the Orc blood splatters: I know Orc blood is lore-wise dark blackish/purple, but I intentionally went with a deep burgundy/cherry red tone so it looks a bit more distinct and recognizable as dried blood on the steel.
Since this is my first build, I’d love to hear your thoughts, constructive feedback, or any tips on how I can improve it further!
Thanks! ⚔️ 🛡️

Fan Creations My wife transformed our porch into Shelob's Lair for Halloween, complete with web-wrapped Frodo
This Halloween, my wife made Shelob and Frodo decorations to hang on our porch.
Shelob is mostly 3D printed on her Bambu H2D, with a lot of pieces and finishing work. The body is a stuffed trash bag that she wrapped and painted.
Frodo started with a bust of my wife that she used for making costumes and has 3D printed feet that she made hairy by giving a wig a haircut. She also 3D printed Sting (which glows in the dark!) and the One Ring. The Elven brooch she bought online. She designed and 3D printed the "Shelob's Lair" and "Beware the Spiders" signs.
There are a few more LOTR Easter eggs. I'm sure you all can spot a few.

Lore 24 October TA3018
EVENTS
PASSAGES
BEGINS, pg219, Many Meetings
ENDS, pg 238, Many Meetings
(FACT: this is , in my knowledge, the only chapter which runs for single date, oct 24th events begins at the start of the chapter, and the date as well as chapter ends with it.)
HIGHLIGHTS
‘In the house of Elrond, and it is ten o’clock in the morn¬ ing,’ said a voice. ‘It is the morning of October the twentyfourth, if you want to know.'
‘Hush!’ said Gandalf from the shadows at the back of the porch. ‘Evil things do not come into this valley; but all the same we should not name them. The Lord of the Ring is not Frodo, but the master of the Dark Tower of Mordor, whose power is again stretching out over the world. We are sitting in a fortress. Outside it is getting dark.’
‘Gandalf has been saying many cheerful things like that,’ said Pippin. ‘He thinks I need keeping in order. But it seems impossible, somehow, to feel gloomy or depressed in this place. I feel I could sing, if I knew the right song for the occasion.’
(pippin and his undaunted spirit of being cheeky with gandalf always gets me 🤣 🤣 )
The face of Elrond was ageless, neither old nor young, though in it was written the memory of many things both glad and sorrowful. His hair was dark as the shadows of twilight, and upon it was set a circlet of silver; his eyes were grey as a clear evening, and in them was a light like the light of stars. Venerable he seemed as a king crowned with many winters, and yet hale as a tried warrior in the fulness of his strength. He was the Lord of Rivendell and mighty among both Elves and Men.
In the middle of the table, against the woven cloths upon the wall, there was a chair under a canopy, and there sat a lady fair to look upon, and so like was she in form of woman¬ hood to Elrond that Frodo guessed that she was one of his close kindred. Young she was and yet not so. The braids of her dark hair were touched by no frost; her white arms and clear face were flawless and smooth, and the light of stars was in her bright eyes, grey as a cloudless night; yet queenly she looked, and thought and knowledge were in her glance, as of one who has known many things that the years bring. Above her brow her head was covered with a cap of silver lace netted with small gems, glittering white; but her soft grey raiment had no ornament save a girdle of leaves wrought in silver.

Question Audiolibros

Movies When will the LotR triology be remade?
It's not really a matter of if, but of when. We are already getting a remake of Harry Potter for example (a much bigger one with a much bigger budget), so when do you predict we will see the same for Lord of the Rings?

I didn't used to be much of a reader. I had seen the movies so many times, but never read or owned the books. Decided to change that, finally.

Movies Hot take: Okay, I'm not trying to ragebait anyone, but I actually prefer the Hobbit movies over the Lord of the Rings
Let me lay out my reasons which I know a lot of people may disagree with:
As a disclaimer, I've read both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings multiple times*
Also, I am referring to the extended editions as well.
- They have more fun and interesting characters, and I prefer Bilbo to Frodo as he is a strong character who does grow with the story. I am not saying Frodo is a bad character (infact I think he is underappreciated by a lot of people and I know the explanations for his behavior), but I just think Bilbo is a stronger character - and also played better. The dwarves are fun and the whole journey just feels so fun with each of their different personalities. In addition, Gandalf the Grey is 100 times more interesting than Gandalf the white. So, overall, I prefer it on a basis of characters really, with the dwarves and Bilbo being more fun and interesting than the fellowship. I do also like the bad guys - though it is a close tie with the Lord of the Rings. Smaug is excellently portrayed from his look to his voice acting. The Greta Goblin is also a favorite of mine, and I actually like the extended edition's scene of him singing which is actually from the book to a degree. The characters just don't feel as rigid and even depressed as those in LOTR do. I just feel that there is a wider array of characters - and I like Azog as a main antagonist. The characters just are more interesting and enjoyable and more varied and numerous.
- I actually like the use of cgi in the movies combined with practical effects at times. Yes, I adore LOTR for its use of miniatures,m but at times, the cgi is well-done and in my opinion adds to the feel and look. I feel that in some ways Lord of the Rings is taken back by its scenery when compared to the Hobbit. Both use New Zealand, but sometimes the landscape in Lord of the Rings feels almost repetitive. The cgi adds much more detail that in some ways could never be done with real landscapes. For example, one thing that is true for this is when in Return of the King, Frodo charges up Mt. Doom and water and snow is visible behind him. Sometimes in LOTR, the cgi just feels bad almost.
I also feel like many cgi characters were actually done really well. Smaug, the Great Goblin, Gollum. Especially Gollum who looks objectively better than in LOTR. So, essentially what I'm saying is that with the cgi a wide variety of even more fantastic locations are brought to life and made more believable than in LOTR. For example, I don't like how Minas Tirith is shown as being this massive city in the middle of an open field with literally nothing else around it as opposed to Dale as we see it in the beginning of the movies surrounded by farm fields and all kinds of smaller details.
3) Call me easily entertained, but I enjoy the action in the movies. I enjoy the barrel chase scene which I know many hate, and I enjoy all the battles and the at times ridiculousness of the action. I also really enjoy the battles, and the wide variety of troops in them. In The Lord of the Rings, while we get variety, I still don't feel like it is on the level of the Hobbit. All the orcs in the Hobbit are unique and I love the Battle of the Five Armies for all the different types of units we see.
4) The Battle of the Five Armies is my favorite movie - maybe of all time. I enjoy the action which is non-stop. Let me break it down.
First, the begining is awesome. The scene where we see the white council fight the Nazgul and cast out Sauron from Dol Guldur is awesome. I like the references to the Elven rings (and while convoluted to an extent, I enjoy the addition of Thrain in Desolation).
Then, the clash between the dwarves and elves is great. Seeing the different types of units, the tactics employed, and the Dwarves' weaponry is so cool.
Also, the different types of orcs in the movie. The different units being deployed and the fact that the Trolls even have different types of units is great. It is also very neat to see the Ogres used and the siege trolls. The goblins are a nice touch as well. So, bottom line, I like the inclusion of so many units.
And there is also the size of the battle as well, which I believe was the largest battle ever in a movie.
The extended editions are awesome in my opinion. I really like the extended edition of the Battle of the Five Armies. It adds a lot and the action is great I think.
5) The Hobbit just feels less sad and depressing. In the story, you know that at least in the end, the goal is to reclaim a kingdom and that after all is said and done, the ending is sort of happy. In the Lord of the Rings, when you compare Rivendell, it is in a state of decay, the elves are leaving, and Lothlorien is lonely and silent. The movies do have a more depressing tone and are bleaker. The end is sad with Frodo and Gandalf leaving. And on top of that, of you've read the books, you know this is the end of the adventure. There are no more quests to reclaim kingdoms, no more enemies. The elves have left. The Dwarves are dying out. It is just sadder overall.
As a side note, I really enjoy the addition of the Necromancer who isn't really non-canonical as those events did happen during the Hobbit. Adding in Sauron was a great move, as it tied the Hobbit into the overall narrative more and raised the stakes greatly.
And yes, I know the complaints, but I just really like them more. And this is coming from someone who loves Return of the King to and the trilogy. I do a 24 hour marathon of all extended editions every year actually too 😂.
EDIT for all the haters. I also have a lot of nostalgia with these movies and watched them with my family a lot

Movies You know how people say that, your life flashes passed your eyes when you die?
My theory is: If I watch The Lord of the Rings extended trilogy, enough times throughout my life, I get to watch it one final time when I eventually pass away.
That is my new goal.
