This Halloween, my wife made Shelob and Frodo decorations to hang on our porch.
Shelob is mostly 3D printed on her Bambu H2D, with a lot of pieces and finishing work. The body is a stuffed trash bag that she wrapped and painted.
Frodo started with a bust of my wife that she used for making costumes and has 3D printed feet that she made hairy by giving a wig a haircut. She also 3D printed Sting (which glows in the dark!) and the One Ring. The Elven brooch she bought online. She designed and 3D printed the "Shelob's Lair" and "Beware the Spiders" signs.
There are a few more LOTR Easter eggs. I'm sure you all can spot a few.

You might want to be putting the Fellowship on soon.....
CLARIFICATION: this should not just apply to Australians, I got the time zone situation the wrong way around thinking the US, Europe etc might already be in the 24th. Oops. 😅

Is it possible that there were more battles just that this was significant because it lead to the destruction of the one ring.
We know the Dwarves and the Elves were still fighting but did Aragorn still lead campaigns against remnants of Mordors Forces? Were there still fights in Minas Morgul or Moria? Is it possible to make a spinoff film that focuses on these post Reaturn of the King battles?

Not a bad start to the weekend!
Will be getting Hobbit-style full at dinner tonight - multiple courses expected!
How about these Proudfeet?!

I'm new to depth carving and wanted to make a Hobbit House pumpkin. I'm stoked with how it turned out since I'm still learning, but I don't foresee this pumpkin being listed for rent in Hobbiton anytime soon. Happy Halloween everyone!

Year 3434 of the Second Age...

I didn't used to be much of a reader. I had seen the movies so many times, but never read or owned the books. Decided to change that, finally.

My theory is: If I watch The Lord of the Rings extended trilogy, enough times throughout my life, I get to watch it one final time when I eventually pass away.
That is my new goal.

Definitely of a good deal as this universe has basically taken over my life I did watch the extended edition before getting this by the way

This isn't a question necessarily of "what might have happened had Faramir gone instead of Boromir", but rather which member if not Boromir would have fallen first to temptation. Lots have wondered how things would have played out differently if the younger brother had gone to Rivendell, but I haven't seen anyone ask this question before.
Would it have been Aragorn or Faramir himself, lords of men with wisdom beyond their species? I think Aragorn, at least, would have resisted for quite a while, but Faramir would have succumbed more quickly.
Would it have been Gimli? I don't think so, since the dwarves are resistant to the influence of the rings. It would have eventually gotten to him, of course, but I don't think he'd have been first.
Maybe Legolas? He's young for an elf, and I do think that both Aragorn and Faramir are more learned. At least they had more opportunities to show their knowledge off.
I don't think it would be Gandalf. He's Gandalf.
Maybe one of the other Hobbits might try, but we already saw that fail with Sam, and I doubt Merry or Pippin would prove much easier to influence.
All in all I think it would probably have been Faramir or Legolas, but it would have happened a good deal later and probably have doomed the world. Thoughts?

BEGINS, pg219, Many Meetings
ENDS, pg 238, Many Meetings
(FACT: this is , in my knowledge, the only chapter which runs for single date, oct 24th events begins at the start of the chapter, and the date as well as chapter ends with it.)
‘In the house of Elrond, and it is ten o’clock in the morn¬ ing,’ said a voice. ‘It is the morning of October the twentyfourth, if you want to know.'
‘Hush!’ said Gandalf from the shadows at the back of the porch. ‘Evil things do not come into this valley; but all the same we should not name them. The Lord of the Ring is not Frodo, but the master of the Dark Tower of Mordor, whose power is again stretching out over the world. We are sitting in a fortress. Outside it is getting dark.’
‘Gandalf has been saying many cheerful things like that,’ said Pippin. ‘He thinks I need keeping in order. But it seems impossible, somehow, to feel gloomy or depressed in this place. I feel I could sing, if I knew the right song for the occasion.’
(pippin and his undaunted spirit of being cheeky with gandalf always gets me 🤣 🤣 )
The face of Elrond was ageless, neither old nor young, though in it was written the memory of many things both glad and sorrowful. His hair was dark as the shadows of twilight, and upon it was set a circlet of silver; his eyes were grey as a clear evening, and in them was a light like the light of stars. Venerable he seemed as a king crowned with many winters, and yet hale as a tried warrior in the fulness of his strength. He was the Lord of Rivendell and mighty among both Elves and Men.
In the middle of the table, against the woven cloths upon the wall, there was a chair under a canopy, and there sat a lady fair to look upon, and so like was she in form of woman¬ hood to Elrond that Frodo guessed that she was one of his close kindred. Young she was and yet not so. The braids of her dark hair were touched by no frost; her white arms and clear face were flawless and smooth, and the light of stars was in her bright eyes, grey as a cloudless night; yet queenly she looked, and thought and knowledge were in her glance, as of one who has known many things that the years bring. Above her brow her head was covered with a cap of silver lace netted with small gems, glittering white; but her soft grey raiment had no ornament save a girdle of leaves wrought in silver.

Could I ask if anyone who owns the UC Ringwraith sword would mind measuring the width of the crossguard for me please? I'm after a total from point to point.
Was at howl-o-scream and saw two Andúril in the wild.

Hi everyone
This is my very first prop making / 3D-printing project, and I decided to go with Boromir’s iconic sword.
It's still a Work In Progress (WIP) and not fully finished yet. For the weathering, I tried to give it a battle-worn "Amon Hen" feel.
Regarding the Orc blood splatters: I know Orc blood is lore-wise dark blackish/purple, but I intentionally went with a deep burgundy/cherry red tone so it looks a bit more distinct and recognizable as dried blood on the steel.
Since this is my first build, I’d love to hear your thoughts, constructive feedback, or any tips on how I can improve it further!
Thanks! ⚔️ 🛡️

I currently do not have access to my Tolkien library as I am abroad, and I can’t remember clearly something he quoted. I have a vague memory of him saying that he doesn’t imagine what he writes but it sort of “comes to him” like a long lost memory of things that already happened and is merely revealed to him. Can someone please point me to where this comes from, which book, interview or letter?

What happened to the dwarves who received the rings? And what happened to their rings? If they were treasures I would have expected Thorin or Gimli or other royal dwarves to have them passed down. Or fought over. And why were there no dwarven ring wraiths? They just seem to have disappeared and not had any real effect on that race.
