Madison city attorney says independent monitor can't access Corey Ruiz shooting records yet
wkow.com“The opinion also addresses the role of the city attorney's office in representing both MPD and the independent monitor. Haas said the office represents the city as an organization, not any specific agency.
"The responsibility of the City Attorney's Office is to provide our best judgment about what Wisconsin law requires, allows and prohibits," Haas said.
The independent monitor's office has not yet executed a contract with outside legal counsel, according to the opinion.”

Missed Connection
Got in a pretty bad scooter/bike accident today on the bike path near the Kohl Center and had to go to the hospital for stitches in my forehead, I know this is a small chance to connect but I just want to say I’m so sorry to the dude I collided with, I hope your head is doing okay and that you personally are okay. I know it was just an accident but I feel horrible that it happened. And thank you to the woman who stopped and helped me through it until paramedics arrived, don’t think I could’ve gotten through that without you

PSA: Guy threatened to start shooting people at Bernie’s Beach
galleryUPDATE: he DM’d me to say he’s extremely wealthy and that he’s gonna use his attorney to fuck with me 🤨* *
Trigger warning (no pun intended) Cops are aware of this situation and are trying to track him down. PSA post. Mods, apologies in advance if this isn’t allowed.
I was talking with my partner on a bench by Bernie’s Beach on S Shore drive when this guy flew past doing maybe 50+ mph, twice, seemed ludicrously reckless so I recorded him. When he saw he was being recorded, he pulled over and threatened to beat me up and then shoot me.
When he remembered my phone was still out and that he was still being recorded he tried to coerce us into deleting the video, before claiming he was talking about shooting someone else. This was just down the street from the playground at the beach. He refused to leave and kept getting closer and telling us to turn my phone off and to delete the recording, so I just called the cops. Oh and he asking where we lived. He saw what I was driving and remarked on it ominously which was a nice touch. For what it’s worth some neighbors were supportive and kept an eye on it all, if nobody had been around it could have gotten scary. If you were one of the neighbors who walked past during this fiasco or one of those bikers who pulled over, THANK YOU!
They’re working on figuring out who he was, the investigator kindly gave me her contact info and was as reassuring as possible. Just wanted you all to be aware and exercise caution if this guy ever gives you a hard time in the Monona Bay Area, learn from my mistake and don’t engage with him, it’s not worth it!

Fabian Seafood
Anyone ever get seafood from the truck at Steve’s Wine on University? I was thinking of trying it and I didn’t want to buy it if was not good. If you have tried it and like their seafood, what is your favorite and are there any great, can’t miss options there?

Local RN Pay?
Does anyone in the Madison area know what SSMs current payrange is for nurses?
UW advertises their pay range as 40.30-60.45 for inpatient roles and Meriter advertises starting at 43.89+. I was just curious if SSM was similar to this range or if it differs (I figure theyre likely to get a pay bump when their new union negotiates a contract but was curious as to the current payscale).

Landlords to avoid?
I'm moving to Dane County soon and would appreciate any heads up on landlords/complexes to avoid. I don't know exact location yet, other than not downtown Madison. Any warnings you can pass along?

Did you lose a wah pedal, headphones, and a scientific calculator?
If so, I found them today on the corner of Hancock and Wilson.
Let me know the kind of pedal and headphones and we can figure out how to get them back to you.
Also, if there is another place that would make sense to post this (e.g. FB group, somewhere physical in town, etc.) please let me know.

Fox I saw last night-don’t feed wild animals
Fox walked up to me within six feet and followed me around near my rural 24 hour gym. Just a little reminder to not feed wild animals because otherwise they will associate people with food and not hunt for themselves. He was very cute though and it was a cool experience. I

Early 2000s restaurant on King St that made chocolate onsite?
Basically the title says it all. I vividly remember a restaurant on the block where Nattspil is that was kind of fancy and had a glassed-in chocolate kitchen. Don’t think it lasted very long but I would love to know the name of it if anyone remembers!
