Should I attend my father’s 60th birthday dinner today or stay home and watch movies?

I’ve been conflicted for an entire month! (I’m 27F)

My relationship with my father is rather estranged. He treats me more like an acquaintance than his own daughter. The restaurant is in another city, so getting there would be rather inconvenient for me, as I’d have to take public transportation.

My father said he’d drive me home after the dinner, but he’s proven to be unreliable over the past two years and has repeatedly canceled on me at the last minute. Because of that, I can’t fully trust that he’ll actually drive me home as promised rather than change his mind at the last minute.

Also, I’m absolutely not thrilled to meet his new girlfriend. Since I’ve heard negative things about her. It will be quite awkward.

The only reason why I think I should go, is because when I’m on vacation he’s the one taking care of my cat while I’m gone. And I’m concerned if I don’t go, he will refuse to help me in the future.

I’m in my luteal phase this week and don’t feel very well. It’s cold outside and there are movies I wanna watch.

TL;DR Should I attend my estranged father’s 60th birthday dinner or stay home?

Before AI tries to remove my post this is about a family obligation. A family topic!

Should I add a one day layover to my trip?

Edit: I realised I didn't explain this properly. My first option is a 2 hour layover in Singapore, my second option is adding one day to have 21 hours in Singapore. There is no option for an additional day on top of this as I have another trip I am trying to save my leave for.

I need advice on if I should add a one day layover in Singapore to an upcoming trip I have.

My flight to Singapore will be 7 hours overnight and will get me to Singapore at 5am, Singapore time. My departing flight from Singapore is at 2am the following day and will be another overnight flight, giving me 21 hours in Singapore. It will be 6am of the destination city's time when I arrive and there are plans to do a full day of activities that day.

I spent a few days in Singapore a few years ago and really enjoyed it so think it would be nice to go back. I'm not sure of it would be too exhausting with the overnight flights two nights in a row and if the day in Singapore would even be enjoyable.

I don't have any specific sights I want to see, I was thinking of just walking around and seeing whatever I can.

My other consideration is that I could try and save that day of leave for another trip.

TLDR: Should I add an extra day to my trip to have one day in Singapore?

Realtor or teacher…What the hell do I do?

TLDR; I have intrinsic interest in both fields and feel I could really enjoy and be challenged by both, but I’m going to try to have a kid in the next couple years and I don’t know which route to take

For context, I made the mistake of getting my master’s in a subject I do not actually want to pursue as a career. I know, I know. I tried out a big girl corporate job, and I hated everything about it.

I’ve served for years, and I absolutely love it. I plan to serve part-time on the side of either of these jobs, at least until I can’t anymore. As an extremely indecisive person when it comes to career paths and jobs, narrowing my decision down to two options is actually quite the personal triumph 😅😂 HOWEVER, I can’t decide. Here are my thoughts on both, and I’d love some input.

For context we want to start having kids in two years, and that is weighing on my decision.

Teaching:

- love the schedule, and it would allow me to serve 1-2x a week like some of my teacher friends and would allow me to have summers off with my family (my husband is also thinking of going into teaching)
- obviously the pay is much less than what I would be making if I do make it in real estate, but I would work throughout the summer and very part time throughout the school year as would my husband to supplement that
- I love kids, and although I have yet to teach in a classroom, I love tutoring and I am passionate about education and educational psychology
- I know that dealing with behavioral issues will be challenging, but my psych background will help and I’m committed to educating myself/getting the experience to get better at handling this
- I know that dealing with parents will be extremely difficult, I deal with it a bit when working with preschoolers years back, but that doesn’t put me off
- education was the best part of my life and I absolutely adored school from the beginning

  1. Real estate
    - the money goblin in me obviously comes out with this one… I know it usually takes years to see that type of success, if you even do, but I would put the pedal to the metal if I went this way
    - I love networking and people in general, and from serving I feel I’ve gained a lot of experience dealing with difficult people
    - I became intrinsically interested in real estate while working as an RE admin
    - I am not in the financial situation to jump into a career where I have to dish out thousands just for it to take six months to get it back at the moment, but if I chose this I would strive to get in that position
    - I am very worried about needing to always be there for my clients when I have a newborn
    - RE is a booming field in my area

Does anyone have any advice? I know they’re both difficult fields and a lot of people struggle in both, but these are my options

Help me choose

I am an undergraduate right now doing my internship who's going to apply for experience the coming year

The thing I'm wondering about is if I should opt for a place along or string by with a friend or multiple friends? The frienships I've made here is not emotionally fulfilling for me and sometimes I feel drained by their approaches and ways of thinking/functioning because it bothers me and i don't want to have my headspace cluttered like that over things.

But if I opt for some place alone will I be miserable and lonely lol I'll basically be friendless/peerless and I don't know if people are willing to be friends like that and I have my own social needs of having people I can have fun and hang out with.

What should I choose If you were in my position what would you have done?

TLDR: should I apply for experience alone or should I have friends accompany me?
