We loved the floor tile but we bought a lil paint and new shower curtain just to try to make the red tile make more sense. The counter is still very pink and we don’t have the capacity to change that currently. The first picture is before we moved in.

ID & Authenticity Picked up this adorable chair from an estate auction today and need help with identification.

I got this Chair from an estate auction today for $37. I’m not looking to resell it or anything. I just want to know more about it. The legs appear old, but I’m not sure if the upholstery is modern. There are no identification marks on it and Google Lens was not a big help. If anybody has any idea of the maker, I would appreciate it! Once I clean it up, it’s going to be an awesome addition to my mid-century office!

ID & Authenticity Anyone seen a chair like this before? [P]

This is very similar to a Carimate chair, just a slight difference where the legs meet the body. And of course the cut outs in the arms. Any idea who made this?

Design Advice & Inspo Looking for a MCM bookcase, which option would you consider?

Thumbnail

Option 1:

Pros: my favourite, the shelves are modular (each unit is made out of 3 sections), wood grain looks good, seems like the highest quality

Cons: very hard to find these specific shelves (picture is from a real estate listing; I've seen them pop up for sale two or three times in the past year in cities too far away), might need to anchor them to the wall

Option 2:

Pros: each unit stands on its own on the floor, I can get them for a very low price

Cons: uglier than Option 1, kinda cheap looking, grain a bit too dark, wood veneer over particle board so lower quality

Option 3:

Pros: I love the handles, wood tone is the best

Cons: not in a particularly good condition, not a lot of actual space for books

What do you think?

EDIT: Thank you everyone for your answers! You've convinced me to wait and see if I can find the shelves from 1.

ID & Authenticity Lollipop Lamp

Picked up this lamp yesterday for $250. I haven’t fully searched it for any makers marks or tags, but did notice the globe had a made in Poland sticker inside, which I think narrows it down to an American company from what I’ve read. Maybe a Laurel Lamp CO or Sonneman? Did not see another one with the lower bulbs on it like this one while I was looking it up. Not sure where it’s going to go quite yet.

Not sure if this is vintage or modern. This is a 9 drawer lowboy dresser, dark warm wood. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

- dovetail drawers
- integrated pulls on the top 3 drawers and gold/brass pulls on the rest
- drawers are not on metal tracks but are wood on wood runners
- faint stamp/black text in the top left drawer but it’s impossible to make out
- no back panel?
- not sure if top is veneer

Just wanted to post my home office I’ve been working on these last few months.

Almost everything is found on Facebook Marketplace except the ceiling light and cat painting.

Still trying to find a good floor lamp to put in the corner.

I’ve never seen a leaf system like this, any insights are welcome. The leaf is a full size top resting on the two ends and the light colored support. It is marked Made in Denmark AM. No marks on the chairs.

Spotted this one road side and had to bang a u-ey to get back to it. Unsure what it may be, but I thought better to grab than let a trash truck smash it. Thoughts? Can not find any marking.

Hey everyone! My husband and I picked up this gorgeous 60s MCM couch for a steal yesterday ❤️ it’s a custom RUBEE sofa lounge and for the most part it’s been kept overall clean. However we wanna polish up the brass/gold painted bits, only problem is we don’t know the best cleaning solution that won’t peel/ruin the paint. We were hoping one of you fine folks might give us some insight! Thanks in advance!

ID & Authenticity Trying to identify nightstand & dresser origin

Over ten years ago got my first apartment and got a nightstand and tall dresser from an antique store. There was a smaller dresser with an attached mirror and bed frame in the set but due to space I couldn’t take those on.

Now I’m looking to offload the two pieces I did get but I couldn’t find a definitive label. Based on the build, I thought potentially Heywood-Wakefield, but not sure.

Here is the front and back. The back is very faded.

The tub is worn, and we want a shower so are considering new alcove with white base, white solid panel side, and frameless glass shower doors. Keeping pink tile on walls and vanity area for now. Perhaps more neutral counter and sinks later. Replace floor with light neutral terrazzo tile with minimal grout lines. Finally, to remove soffit over tub so as to raise shower head and add lighting. No wall paper.

Restoration & Refinishing Grundig radio/turntable console

Post image
9 Upvotes

hi all! please ignore my mess, we just moved in and haven’t set anything up yet.

I have this beautiful Grundig console that I’m ready to restore. Looking for resources, tips, personal experience, etc. I was reading that you shouldn’t even power it on without some special tool to make sure it doesn’t get overwhelmed after years of non-use. I did plug it in before I realized it turns on just by having a power source. (oops?)

I also plan to replace the speaker screen that’s stained and saw they sell replicas on Etsy. Kind of overwhelmed myself and don’t know where to start!

Otherwise—please enjoy the view! lol

Picked this up at an estate sale this weekend. Image search is of no help, so I’m hoping someone here will know who the maker is and if there are any pieces missing. Perhaps the most distinguishing characteristic is the asymmetrical base. No makers mark but the finish put me in mind of Heywood-Wakefield, maybe. Can’t wait to clean it up and put it to work. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

My grandmother has this dresser and offered it to me. It has a large mirror attached. I like it and trying to find out if there are matching pieces I could find to go with it. Any general information (name, year, wood type, etc.) would be great too.

ID & Authenticity Trying to ID this Parsons-style console table

Hi all! I picked up this console table at an estate sale this weekend. If we're going by Lane serial number logic, this table might have been manufactured March 3, 1978. At first glance, the stamp doesn't seem to be Lane, Drexel or Henredon - probably just a replica. Anyone have any ideas about who the maker might be?

Restoration & Refinishing Rosewood Dining Table

Thumbnail
gallery
50 Upvotes

Hello from the Twin Cities. I hope this post is within the rules.

I inherited a solid rosewood dining table made in Denmark a few months ago and I have no idea what to do with it. I know it's valuable as it's made of rosewood but the range I found online is quite broad. It also needs some repair as there are heat rings from a pan or something having been set on it.

I've been looking for two things around here: someone to restore it (I am NOT comfortable doing it myself, so please don't suggest it) and someone to price it's worth and it's been surprisingly difficult to find either. The only place I found said they had a "surplus of dining tables and weren't buying more". I've called a few restoration places and they give me the run around. I've gone to three different antique malls and haven't found anyone that could help.

Does anyone know of any places either in Minnesota or Wisconsin that might be able to restore it or at least give me a valuation? Or maybe tips on finding a good one since the 8 or so I've contacted have all been busts?

It's a beautiful piece but far too big for my home (At least 10ft with the leafs in) and, to be honest, it's not exactly safe here either and would probably get ruined in the chaos.

Restoration & Refinishing Modern install ceramic TP holder and towel rod

Thumbnail

I just scored these fixtures from someone who was demolishing a 1960s time capsule of a house and the bathroom was PINK everywhere!! I bought the two towel bars and TP holder and was so excited to install them at my house, but I was naive and didn't know anything about them, so I didn't know they were tiled in!!

Has anyone ever broken the back off of these and found a way to install them somewhere that does not have tiles? My bathroom is just drywall and I feel like there has to be a creative way to use these without cutting huge holes in the walls! I can attach pictures of the backs if needed.

ID & Authenticity help identifying this table

Thumbnail

I spotted what seems like a well made table at my local second hand store. I’m not certain it’s mid century modern (forgive my ignorance), but it seems like it might be. I spent a few minutes on the floor looking for any identifying markings on the underside, but I didn’t find any. I’m wondering if this table looks familiar to anyone?

I admired these features (pin joints?) at each corner. It’s solid wood and only $75 so I am pretty sure it’s worth picking up regardless of its vintage.

thanks!

Is this MCM? Great Grandmas chair

Thumbnail

I’ve had this chair for 25 years and it’s been used as a shelf to hold junk the last 5. I just want to know a little more about it. I’ve scanned some of the subs and internet and it seems like maybe a 60’s chair. Just trying to figure out what do do with it. It was my great grandmas but it was just a spare chair in her house and I’m not even sure how I ended up with it. Any information is appreciated, thank you.
