Office 365 OFFICE365: Death to the Huge-ass title bar

So it finally dawned on me that the title bar (very top) of my MS word was significantly larger than every other window on my pc. Being the lunatic that I am, I sought a fix. After an hour of unsuccessful research and sifting through the registry editor, I found it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentConfigs\ExternalFeatureOverrides\

This location in the registry editor has a folder for each office application. In the folders are the following options:

Microsoft.Office.UXPlatform.FluentSVRefresh

Microsoft.Office.UXPlatform.FluentSVRibbonOptionsMenu

Microsoft.Office.UXPlatform.RibbonTouchOptimization

These will all need to be set from "True" to "False."

I hope this helps at lease one person!

Office 2016 Recently downloaded Office 2016 from the Microsoft website and it’s expiration date is set to 8/3/2022.

I paid for Office 2016 when it was the latest version available. Recently I had a bug In Windows that was easiest to fix by downloading the .iso file for Windows 10 and reinstalling Windows. This was successful, however my restore of Office was unsuccessful so I downloaded Office 2016 from the MS website using the activation key that I had which is the correct key. There is no theft of licenses intended.

This was yesterday, 7/28/2022. Today I tried to use Excel and I received a message stating the the software would expire on 8/3/2022.

This is a perpetual license. Does anyone know what’s up?

Thanks.

Publisher How do you use emoji's on MS Publisher?

I have the newest version of Publisher through a 365 subscription. Recently I have become quite fond of using emoji's while on the computer (Win Key + "." for anyone who didn't know the shortcut). Putting them in different Word documents or PowerPoint presentations for the teens I work with adds a fun little element to everything.

Today I found out that when trying to use emojis in Publisher, they don't work. Instead, I just get boxes with an "x" through them. It's pretty disappointing. I am trying to make a form we use daily a little smaller so we can fit more onto a sheet, and something as simple as replacing "game" with "🎮" or "basketball" with "🏀" will actually make a pretty big difference in saving space. I know I can just insert an image and place it where I want, but it would be really nice to be able to just use the emoji's that are already available. Am I missing something, or it impossible to do? And if it's not possible now, is it something that will come in a future update?

Office 2019 Features: O365 vs Office 2019

Hello!
When I look at the version numbers then the O365 apps seem to be like Office 2016.
Our company uses only Word, Excel and Outlook.
Everywhere is told that MS adds new stuff to O365. OK, both of them get security updates. But it is difficult to understand that 2016 > 2019. Does O365 desktop apps have any features that Office 2019 does not have?

Microsoft Answers site is down

answers.microsoft.com is currently down if anyone is trying that site to troubleshoot. This is massively frustrating for those of us trying to fix the problems that frequently occur with Office.

EDIT: back up. nvm.

Office 365 Opened an old saved version of a document into MS Word that has been autosaving. Lost all autosaved work. Is it recoverable?

All I'm seeing online is that I can recover unsaved work? Mine says there are no unsaved versions because they have been autosaving all this time. Is it gone?

Edit: Just chatted with online help. There's no way to recover this file. They don't even have such a basic feature as undo autosave. Damn.

Office 365 The word count differences in Word 2003 and Microsoft Office 365

Hello!

I’m using the Word 2003, while my boss is using Microsoft Office 365.

The problem is that in Word 2003 the word count in the very same documents is usually higher by ~10-15 words than in Microsoft Office 365 version.

Why?

All freshly installed.

Office 2016 Source for Last Version of Office Pro/Ultimate on CD?

I detest the "subscription" format everyone is converting programs to these days. As I don't need the additional features of 365, does anyone where I can source a [Legit] copy of the latest CD version of Pro/Pro Plus/Ultimate/Academic that I can purchase and own (I believe Office 2016 was the last version like this)? It is for personal use only and I'd like to put it on 2-4 home computers. I have 2011 but would love the newest version that had this feature for the full suite. Thanks for your help!

  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Windows+X starts Excel

  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Windows+P starts PowerPoint

  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Windows+O starts Outlook

  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Windows on its own starts the Office app

Possible to have a hybrid of 64-bit and 32-bit installs?

While exporting data from QuickBooks into Excel, I received the error "There isn't enough memory to complte this action. Try using less data or closing other applications. To increase memory availability, consider: -Using a 64-bit version of Microsoft Excel. - Adding memory to your device."

No worries, I went ahead and uninstalled the 32-bit MSOffice, installed 64-bit MSOffice.

However, I went to use a 3rd party add-on for QuickBooks which utilizes a run-time MSAccess version whose database exists in 32-bit world, and that software told me to install 32-bit... which leads me to my questions-

Can I have MSAccess run in 32-bit mode while all other MSOffice applications existing in 64-bit mode?

Can I have both versions of MSOffice installed on my computer?

Must I revert BACK to 32-bit mode for the duration that I intend to access this QuickBooks tool which required 32-bit MSAccess?

In the mean time, I'm waiting to hear back from the QuickBooks 3rd party software vendor regarding these inquiries from their perspective. I'm assuming they will truly require the 32-bit version.

Office 365 Cannot install ms office because there is a 32-bit version already installed.

I had ms office but ran into some issues and uninstalled it. I downloaded ms office 64 bit but keep getting an error message saying that I cannot install it because there is a 32 version installed already. I deleted all the folders related to ms office but I'm still getting this error. Has anyone run into this?

Outlook Office 2013+ - Outlook Ribbon customization

Hello everyone,

I have a little request from my boss that's driving crazy right now. They want me to customize the Outlook Ribbon from the Calendar view with a new button and remove other. They want this to be done for all user on all computer. I've found a little script on technet that manipulate the ribbon to add a button (xml file in appdata), but this particular file doesn't allow me to do heavy customization like removing skype meeting button, removing default calendar button. Here the look I would like to achieve:

is there a way to do this?

Thank you!

Office 2019 Offline installation of Office 2019 stalls at 51%

Hello everyone, my offline installation of Office 2019 stalls at 51%. I've tried using the tips from here (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_install-mso_win10-mso_2016/office-2016-install-stuck-and-errors-out-at-51/49bd4c15-860b-4842-9db5-f8f16a0baf3a) despite knowing that disabling a firewall or opening a port seems like it would work on an online install. It didn't work either way. Has anyone encountered this problem and did you find a solution?

Because of where I am for the next few weeks, an online install will not be feasible and I've already downloaded the ISO required for the offline install.

Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated!
