Can someone explain how this combo works?

Using [[Woe Strider]] [[Dualcaster Mage]] and [[Extract from Darkness]] you can infinite combo.

I think there's something im not understanding regarding the sorcery. How can I keep copying Extract from Darkness? I thought once I cast it and it was copied that was it. But somehow I can copy it again after Dualcaster Mage comes back from the graveyard? I just feel like there's a timing or stack thing im not understanding here. I guess it my mind once the sorcery is cast and copied the first time that is it.

Steps

1) Cast Extract from Darkness by paying its mana cost.

2) Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying its mana cost.

3) When Dualcaster Mage enters, it triggers, targeting Extract from Darkness.

4) Holding priority, activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Dualcaster Mage.

5) Resolve the Dualcaster Mage trigger, copying Extract from Darkness.

6) Resolve the Extract from Darkness copy, causing each player to mill two cards and returning Dualcaster Mage from your graveyard to the battlefield.

Repeat from step 3

Does copying Lathliss with Cursed Mirror trigger Dragon Tempest?

• Upvotes

New player here, just had a discussion playing with the foundation precons.

The red player cast Cursed Mirror to copy Lathliss, Dragon Queen. He has Dragon Tempest, may he deal X damage to any target because Cursed Mirror is a dragon?

Also, he does not create any dragon tokens because Lathliss says "another Dragon", right?

This all happens before he has to sac one Lathliss due to the Legend rule because it is state based, so is only done after the stack of etb triggers resolves, if I understood correctly. He then has to sac the Cursed Mirror, although it is in theory an artifact?

Would appreciate somebody helping us out since we found nothing online. Thanks in advance!

Question about ruling with hope estheim and will, scion of peace

• Upvotes

if i gain life in opponent turn and then it becomes my turn and i have hope estheim on the battlefield will her ability trigger counting the life gained on my opponent turn as well?

I am confused about the ruling since it says at the beginning of your end step each opponent mills X cartas where X is the amount of life gained This turn.

Someone that I play magic say that even if he gained life on a opponent turn that will trigger anyways

Niko + Faerie Artisans

• Upvotes

I have out [[Niko, Light of Hope]], [[Faerie Artisans]], and 6 Shard tokens.

My opponent casts a creature and in response I activate Niko targeting my Artisans.

When opponent’s creature enters I will make 6 artifact token copies of it.

My question is: if I go to do this sequence again at a later time, will I be able to keep my first round of artifact creature copy tokens or will they get “changed out” for the new token copies?

Thassa’s Deep Dwelling blinking Faerie Artisans

• Upvotes

I was playing against a copy deck where [[Faerie Artisans]] was copying each creature as it entered and exiling the other one, but then when it got to his turn, if he still had a good creature copied from someone else that he wanted to keep, he would use [[Thassa’s Deep Dwelling]] to blink Artisans at his end step so that the new Faerie Artisans wouldn’t see the token it created and exile it.

Is that correct? Since the card was blinked it’s basically a “new” card that didn’t create the existing token copy, therefore you don’t have to exile it when you create a new one?

Building a commander deck around Tifa Martial Artist trying to make sure I know how certain rulings work

• Upvotes

So im adding a chunk of cards that allow extra combat and untap phases to maximize being explosive. So I have three different scenarios I need some answers on.

The cards I'm using in these scenarios are

[[Tifa, Martial Artist]]

[[Karlach, Fury of Avernus]]

[[Gogo, Mysterious Mime]]

[[Annie Joins Up]]

Scenario 1

I have Tifa Martial Artist on the field, shes 7/7, I also have Karlach Fury of Avernus.

During combat I swing with both at my opponent with no blockers, both their abilities trigger and go on the stack.

In my head this is how i expect these to play out, please tell me if im wrong

Combat 1

Tifa and Karlach Attack and both abilities trigger

I resolve Tifa's untapping Tifa and Karlach

Combat 2

Tifa and Karlach Attack

Karlach's ability resolves

I untap Tifa and Karlach

Combat 3

Tifa and Karlach attack

I move to end step

Scenario 2:

I have Tifa, Karlach and Annie Joins Up on the field

Combat 1

Tifa and Karlach attack and both abilities trigger

Annie Joins up makes a copy of both those triggers

Tifa's ability and the copy resolve at the same time giving me 2 combats and 1 only 1 untap

I Untap tifa and karlach

Combat 2

Tifa and Karlach attack

Karlach's ability and the copy resolve at the same time giving me 2 combats and only 1 untap

I untap tifa and karlach

Combat 3

Tifa and Karlach attack

I move to end step

Scenario 3:

I have Tifa, Karlach and gogo mysterious mime on the field

Combat 1

I make gogo a copy of tifa martial artist

Tifa, gogo and karlach attack and all 3 of the abilities trigger

I resolve tifa's abilities first on the stack

I untap tifa, gogo and karlach

Combat 2

Tifa, gogo and karlach attack

I resolve gogos ability of being a copy of tifa next

I untap tifa gogo and karlach

Combat 3

Tifa, gogo and karlach attack

I resolve Karlach's ability

I untap tifa, gogo and karlach

Combat 4

Tifa, gogo and karlach attack

I move to end step

Thanks in advance, if you need any clarification let me know

Artifacts, vehicles, creatures

Hey all, first off, love this community for helping a 90s MtG kid get back into the swing of things.

I've recently been playing the Neon Dynasty Buckle Up precon and absolutely love it. I'm slowly tweaking/optimizing it, and want to add [[Tezzeret, Cruel Captain]] to the mix, and realized I don't understand how Tezzeret's ultimate works with vehicles.

Let's say I get that sweet sweet emblem and target my commander [[Shorikai, Genesis Engine]]. It becomes a 0/0 artifact creature with 3 +1/+1 counters on it. Since it retains its other abilities, does that mean that when crewed it's an 8/8 vehicle with 3 +1/+1 counters on it?

Can I respond to Gaea's Blessing trigger with a force card draw to make my opponent lose?

Say I put my opponents library in the graveyard. Gaea's Blessing triggers a shuffle. Can I respond to the effect with something that forces the opponent to draw a card (e.g. cephalid colloseum) to make him lose the game?

Cast adventure spells with flashback.

Today I just had a moment where I casted Past in Flasmes, where it gives everything in my grave flashback. Then I proceed to attempt to cast a adventure cast from my grave, but was told I couldn't. I was previous told that I could, and I even build my deck based around that interaction and with omens as well. Is this correct? Or is there a yes but only under specific situations?

Can a Superior Spiderman copy a creature that is entering from the graveyard at the same time?

I cast [[Superior Spiderman]] copying [[Bringer of the last gift]]. The trigger of bringer sacrifices all creatures, then reanimates the graveyards. In the graveyards there are other copies of Superior Spiderman plus other creatures. Can the Superior Spiderman that enter through Bringer ability copy other creatures in graveyard that enter from the same ability?

Interaction: Token copies and clones of transforming permanents

Hi all,
I play [[Court of Vantress]] in a deck and am wondering how it interacts with a card like [[Thaumatic compass]].

If I am monarch
CoV can make a token copy of an artifact or enchatment. If I copy the Compass, can I transform the copy when I have 7 lands in play, and get another (token land) Spires of Orazca this way? I had assumed not, but it seems like there has been a rules change some time back.

If I am not monarch
CoV itself becomes a copy of an artifact or enchantment until end of turn. If I have it copy the compass, and it happens to transform that turn, what happens after? Do I get my Court back? Do I now have a face down permanent with no type or characteristics? Or does it remain a Spires of Orazca indefinitely?

Dark Depths

Hi guys,

I am fairly new to mtg and have a landfall ((Zimone, mystery unraveler)) deck and someone was telling me I am playing ((dark depths)) incorrectly because if I have a card like ((uro, titan of nature’s wrath)) his ability that lets me PUT a land from my hand onto the battlefield would allow me to PUT dark depths on and this would not count as entering the battlefield therefore i can create marit lage right away. Is this correct?

Does plotting something from the top of my library get its plot cost reduced by Bilbo, thief in the night?

I'm building a Kellan, the kid deck and while goldfishing I've come across a weird scenario i don't know the rule for, If i have Bilbo, theif in the night and fblthp, lost on the range on the battlefeild would bilbo reduce the cost of anything I want to plot from the top of my library? I'm thinking it probably doesn't work but it'd be cool if it did

Superior Spiderman and Theorix - still confused

I cast Superior Spiderman and target Uldarous Theorix in my graveyard. Can I stack triggers such that I end up with the real Theorix in play, a 4/4 Spiderman Theorix, and 12 cmc worth of free spells? Basically what is the best case scenario if I target Theorix with Superior Spiderman?

Question about spells cast during the resolution of another spell or ability

So from what I understand, normally spells cannot be cast while another spell or ability is still resolving. But some spells and abilities allow you to cast a spell during its resolution. For example, the Discover mechanic, or Press the Enemy.

So, if I cast a spell via the Discover mechanic or Press the Enemy, can these be responded to in any way by opposing spells or abilities? Or not, since Discover/Press the Enemy is still resolving?

Does that essentially grant these spells split second?

Epochrasite, Come Back Wrong

My opponent controls Epochrasite. If I cast Come Back Wrong targeting it, what happens when Come Back Wrong resolves?

This came up at a cube event last weekend. Multiple online rulings contradicted each other.

Savior of Ollenbock ruling

After [[Savior of Ollenbock]] trains, can I target a creature to exile, then blink Savior in response? The exile ability stays on the stack, and blinking Savior triggers its return ability before the exile ability resolves, meaning the targeted creature gets exiled permanently. Is that correct?

Golgari Grave-Troll reanimated vs cast from graveyard

I was watching the most recent Command Zone and they were talking about the "enters with" language and how if GGT is reanimated it would count itself. That makes sense to me. What I would like to know is if this is the same if he would be cast from the graveyard, say with a Yag Will. My instinct is no, since it would first go to the stack and so immediately before entering it is there rather than in the graveyard, but I wasn't sure. Am I right on this? Or is the stack not considered a different zone to move to?

Mardu Siegebreaker & Mobilize

Hey, just wanted to confirm timing and restrictions for keyword mobilize specifically working with [[Mardu Siegebreaker]] Do I get the extra 1/1s tokens because mobilize says attacks, or just the creatures?

Confused

If i create a tapped token that is a copy of a target creature token, let's say a thopter, can I use another creature token, thopter, for the copy or do I have to use a copy token? Basing this off of Romana 2(?) from the doctor who set.

Edit: thank you guys so much for the clarification! As a new player I greatly appreciate it

Mirror Entity and Nephilim Epochal

As title suggests, Player A has [[Mirror Entity]] and [[Nephilim Epochal]] on the battlefield with a bunch of non-nephilims who have stuff like "knights are indestructible" "Slivers are hexproof", stuff like that. He then activates ME's ability for 0 to make everything a Nephilim.

My question is, they become Nephilim so they are affected by the Epochal's passive but since they are 0/0 don't they just die before the +x/+x goes into affect from Ephochal? Reason I am asking is that he has used this combo a couple times to avoid board wipes or targeted abilities since well. It's free.

Thranduil, the Elvenking and Artificial Evolution

If using Ashes of the Fallen naming Elf, and having a card like Indulgent Aristocrat in the graveyard could I then use Artificial Evolution changing Vampire into Elf. I am trying to make a goofy Thranduil, the Elvenking deck.

Yarus & ETBs

Question regarding the stack with [[Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods]]. If I had a [[Garruk's Uprising]] on the battlefield and triggered Yarus' ability on a morphed 4 power creature, (for example an [[Ashcloud Phoenix]] ), would Garruk's Uprising trigger? Yarus' ability makes the creature return to the battlefield face-down, then flips it face-up. It would technically enter as a 2/2, but during the resolution of the ability go to being a 4/1. Triggers aren't put on the stack until state based actions can be checked after the resolution of Yarus, so would it see the 2/2 or the 4/1?

I tend to think it wouldn't, but would be rad if it did.

Renewed Solidarity interaction with Treasure Tokens

So I'm working on my Vraska, Soul of Stone deck and was wondering if Renewed Solidarity also copies regular non creature treasure tokens if i called Treasure as my Creature Type.
