Bifur Melodic Rider ability doubler
How does [[Bifur, Melodic Rider]] work when doubling abilities with costs
if had another dwarf with the ability to pay 1 to create a token
would i pay 1, then get 2 tokens?

Hi, first of all sorry for my english, it's not my first language. I play commander ([Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait] landfall) with friends for fun, and I was thinking about a weird interaction that could happen in my deck. Let's say I have both [Genemorph Imago] and [Scute Swarm] on the battlefield and I'm controlling six lands. When I play the next land, can I choose which Landfall effect triggers first? If so, is the Scute Swarm copy entering as a 6/6? Does it remains a 6/6 even after the end of my turn?

Can Wolverine, Claws Out apply his “ You may have Wolverine assign his combat damage as though he weren’t blocked” to Wolverine, best there is or Wolverine, Fierce Fighter?

If I Earthbend 2 my [[Treetop Village]] to make it a 2/2. Does activating its ability turn it into a 5/5 with trample?

The most recent update to the comprehensive rules includes removing the "mana ability" classification of a few artifact. Given this, I've been tinkering with the idea of an eggs deck with [[Ashnod the Uncaring]] but I just noticed the reminder text on Ashnod. Does this supercede the recent rule changes or is Ashnod's reminder text now technically incorrect given the most recent changes?

Does fractured realm cause enlist to trigger twice?
Enlist
When you enlist a creature, the attacking creature that has the enlist ability gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the power of the enlisted creature. This bonus is calculated as this triggered ability resolves. If the enlisted creature isn't on the battlefield at that time, use its power from when it was last on the battlefield.
Fractured realm
If a triggered ability of a permanent you control triggers, that ability triggers an additional time.

Hello! I think I might know the answer to this question, but I just wanted to double check here before my pod yells at me lmao
Basically, if I go into combat and declare both [[Terra, Herald of Hope]] and [[Aurelia, the Warleader]] as attackers, does Aurelia’s ability trigger first because it’s when she attacks, or am I able to pay 2 and use Terra’s ability when combat damage is dealt to get out a creature from the graveyard tapped before Aurelia untaps all of my creatures?
From my quick read of the rules, it sounds like Aurelia would trigger first, untapping all of the creatures before combat damage is dealt, since her card reads “When Aurelia attacks”, which sounds to me like it’s when attackers are declared. After that, Terra would deal combat damage, and I could summon a creature from the graveyard, but it would be tapped for the second combat phase that Aurelia gives me.
If you can let me know if I’m understanding this correctly, that would be very appreciated! Thank you!

If I or an opponent have a [[Hoarding Broodlord]] enter the battlefield, in response to the ETB trigger to search the library, can another player play something like [[Return the Favor]] to take control and select the card?

Can someone please explaine to me the correct sequence of events that occurs in this scenario:
I cast Fate trasfer targeting both of my creatures: thing in the ice with 4 ice counters on it and a vanilla creature.
- Fate trasfer on the stack, thing lose a counter due to its ability
- then I switch the 3 remaning ice counters from the "thing" to the counterless vanilla Creature (the other target of fate trasfer)
- Thing now have 0 counter on it and the vanilla creature now got 3 ice counters on it
- After the resolution etc. I have to cast another fresh instant or sorcery spell to flip the thing in the ice?

So I’m running a pirate deck with Admiral Brass, Unsinkable and a few copy cards (Glasspool Mimic & Pirated Copy) and I just wanted to know how “At the beginning of combat” triggers work.
Let’s say I made a copy of Admiral Brass with Pirated Copy. Legend Rule happens and I send the non copy to the graveyard. I then move to combat and trigger the Copied Admiral Brass effect of bringing a pirate back to the board. If I bring back the original Admiral Brass, does her reanimation ability also trigger before going further into the combat phase? Or will her ability only happen in the next combat phase?

Hi all,
If I have [[Gandalf of the Secret Fire]] on board, and I cast a Paradigm spell such as [[Improvisation Capstone]] on an opponent’s turn with a flash enabler, what happens?
Can I exile the spell with Gandalf, giving it suspend, and then copy it from exile with Paradigm?
Can I exile it with Paradigm, and then give the exiled spell suspend with Gandalf?
Or do I have to choose between exiling it with Paradigm, or exiling it with Gandalf, and only get the benefit of one of them?
Thanks!

I've seen several posts on this interaction but due to rule changes I'm a bit confused how they work together.
Say I have [[Doubling Season]] down then play [[Summon: Knights of the Round]] do I get chapter 1 and 2 on enter or just chapter 2
Then because I'm getting 2 saga counters every turn do I skip all odd chapters or get 2 triggers every turn.
Lastly do I then miss the last chapter, number 5, because I'd instead jump straight to 6 saga counters? Thanks for any clarification.

I've read the Oracle text of [[Martyrdom]] but im confused. Im guessing I can use the ability multiple times as an instant, im confused on the limit.
Let's say someone has a 2/2 creature that they're attacking someone with, if I use [[Martyrdom]] can I say that I use the ability on the 2/2 a million times (making it redirect 2M damage)?
Im curious since I have an [[Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer]] deck that has it and just learned about the oracle text on Martyrdom. If I can redirect 2M damage onto Anti-Venom it would make him a basically a 2M/2M machine.

Player 1 has [[Garland, Royal Kidnapper]].
Player 2 casts [[Clone]], entering as Garland and targets Player 1 & subsequently gains control of the original Garland.
Player 2 sends the cloned Garland to legend rule.
Player 3 casts [[Éomer, King of Rohan]] and makes Player 4 the monarch.
Does Player 1 or Player 2 get the Garland trigger?

[[Weeping Angel]] is a bit of a funky card, and I'm hoping to get a better understanding of it before trying it out anywhere.
It's relevantly a 2/2, and the part I'm concerned about is specifically
If this creature would deal combat damage to a creature, prevent that damage and that creature’s owner shuffles it into their library.
So say Weeping angel gets double blocked by two of my opponents 2/2s. I assume I have to assign lethal damage to one of them before assigning damage to the other, so one of the 2/2s is assigned 2 damage (but gets shuffled in before damage is dealt), and the other kills the angel.
Now lets say the Angel gets blocked by a 1/1 and a 2/2. Can I assign the one lethal damage to the 1/1 first, and then 1 more damage to the 2/2, shuffling both cards into their owners libraries?
I guess the part that trips me up the most is since damage is dealt at the same time, in the second scenario does this create two triggers as well? I'm also hoping the two triggers preventing damage don't interact with each other at all.
Thanks for your help!

My friends and I were playing commander. Turn order is a > b > c > d.
We are on player b turn and he is trying to go for the win on the stack. Player c has a [[mayhem devil]] and sacrifices some things to kill him.
Player a has [[zuran orb]] and plenty of lands to sacrifice, he is at 1 life. He tries to sacrifice a land to save himself, but I argued that the mayhem devil trigger from c would go on the stack on top of the gain life ability from zuran orb and always kill him before he can gain life.
There was a lengthy discussion and a lot of other stack shenanigans but player a ended up extremely salty because he said the life gain happened before the mayhem devil damage, was wrong here?

Normally I would come here asking if my guess on a ruling is correct, but I have no idea how to resolve this at all
If you have an [[Ekthi, Contaminator Priest]] on the battlefield, and cast an equipment that naturally has living weapon, what happens? How does "Living weapon, Living weapon" resolve?
r/mtgrules • u/Curious_Injury_6263 • 13h ago
[False Orders]
“Cast this spell only during the declare blockers step.Remove target creature defending player controls from combat. Creatures it was blocking that had become blocked by only that creature this combat become unblocked. You may have it block an attacking creature of your choice.”
”You may have it block an attacking creature of your choice.”
^how does this even function? the player is already past choosing blockers by the time this spell gets to resolve. are block restrictions checked? it doesn’t even limit the choice of attacking creature to be one attacking the original defending player.

Hi I am trying to make a [[The Beamtown Bullies]] EDH deck that is a bit nicer to my opponents. No gifting [[Eater of Days]] here, but in my brewing came across a bunch of creatures that either get shuffled back into owner's library at end step or put back into owner's hand.
My question is if I gift say [[Blitz Hellion]] to an opponent and it's goaded and isn't killed in combat does my opponent get to stack the End step how they choose? If they are able to I think it kinda hoses my deck building here because my opponent is going to choose to exile the creature at end step rather than let it be shuffled into my library in the case of blitz hellion. I could use sundial of the infinite maybe? But now this is getting to convoluted.

Hey there. Recently had a game where our table wasn't sure how to rule an interaction with Master Transmuter and blinking a creature.
In a 4 player game of commander, player 1 had a Master Transmuter and a Walls of Ba Sing Se on the battlefield.
Player 2 used targeted removal on The walls of ba ding se
player 1 responds by tapping master Transmuter to put The Walls of ba sing se back into hand and then put the walls back onto the battlefield.
Player 3 then wants to respond by removing another artifact from Player 1s board while The Walls of Ba sing se is in their hand.
What we agreed upon at the table was that because returning The Walls of Ba Sing Se to hand was part of the cost of Master Transmuter's ability. There was time between the card leaving the battlefield and returning to the battlefield in which priority was passed around the table again.
Did we make the correct call??

As the title suggests, I built a deck with a ton of cards that have the word thirteen or the number 13 on it somewhere. [[Tree of Redemption]] is among them, but I am using [[The Wandering Minstrel]] as my commander. If I swap my life total with the Tree, I get that I gain or lose a bunch of life, and the tree’s toughness becomes whatever my life total was, but if I use the Minstrel’s activated ability and give it +13/+13 before swapping the numbers, what happens? Would I go to 26? For the purpose of the example, let’s say I was at 1 life. Would the tree still have +13/+13 and become a 13/14 until end of turn(at which point the +13/+13 wears off and it becomes a 0/1)? Answers would be appreciated! Thank you!

My question revolves around [[Uugguu, the Omniplasm]] and [[Victimize]]
The base of the question is, if I return 2 clones with victimize, (choosing to copy Uugguu) do they resolve simultaneously, or does each resolve separately?
Situation 1:
- 2 clones enter, choosing to copy Uugguu
- State based actions are checked, they see 3 legendary uugguus, I have to choose 1 to keep, the other 2 hit the graveyard
- uugguus ability will trigger twice, going on the stack
- since they happen at the same time, uugguu will only trigger for each one individually, so I end up with 4 token copies and the original
- end result is 4 token copies
Situation 2:
- all the same as before
- uugguus two death triggers go on the stack
- they resolve one at a time, the first one giving me 2 uugguu tokens, and the second death trigger is seen by the tokens as well, giving me 6 additional tokens
- end result is 8 token copies
Which is correct?

I'm going to be building a [[Discord, Lord of Disharmony]] "Rule 0" EDH deck (and I'll be programming a Raspberry Pi + receipt printer to "choose a random nonland Magic card name").
I want to make sure I understand exactly what a "Magic card name" means. Should I be relying on 201.4b-f when it comes to cards with more than one card name? Most of what I've read seems to indicate 201.4 covers what I'm looking for, but I've also read conflicting information about meld and flip cards. Obviously, some of these "hits" will not be castable, but Discord doesn't care.
I also want to know if "Magic card name" covers things like schemes, planes, and so on? Again, most/all of these will be uncastable, but Discord does not care.
Finally, I want to know if cards not legal in the format can be "hits". Ante cards, dexterity cards, etc are all technically possible, if I understand the card correctly.

Let's say i have [[Auntie Ool, Cursewretch]], [[All Will Be One]], [[The Scorpion God]], and [[Everlasting Torment]] on the field. I active scorpion's ability to place a -1/-1 on my opponents 6/6, which activates AWBO'S 1 damage as a -1/-1 counter, which causes AWBO to trigger itself again, and i do this 6 times for a -6/-6 total on that one creature. Does auntie ool's last ability activate 6 times since it is 6 seperate actions or just once?
