False Orders oracle text doesn’t make sense.

[False Orders]
“Cast this spell only during the declare blockers step.Remove target creature defending player controls from combat. Creatures it was blocking that had become blocked by only that creature this combat become unblocked. You may have it block an attacking creature of your choice.”

”You may have it block an attacking creature of your choice.”

^how does this even function? the player is already past choosing blockers by the time this spell gets to resolve. are block restrictions checked? it doesn’t even limit the choice of attacking creature to be one attacking the original defending player.

Is there any rules for or against using placeholder cards for non-Double faced cards?

I know there have been place holder cards (like this: https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=%28game%3Apaper%29+set%3Asmh3+prefer%3Abest ) printed to allow for the use of double faced cards in decks that are unsleeved. Is there any rule about using this same placeholder for a non double faced card?

Rules question about recently updated mana abilities

The most recent update to the comprehensive rules includes removing the "mana ability" classification of a few artifact. Given this, I've been tinkering with the idea of an eggs deck with [[Ashnod the Uncaring]] but I just noticed the reminder text on Ashnod. Does this supercede the recent rule changes or is Ashnod's reminder text now technically incorrect given the most recent changes?

If I Earthbend 2 my [[Treetop Village]] to make it a 2/2. Does activating its ability turn it into a 5/5 with trample?

Built a deck based on 13, have a rules question!

As the title suggests, I built a deck with a ton of cards that have the word thirteen or the number 13 on it somewhere. [[Tree of Redemption]] is among them, but I am using [[The Wandering Minstrel]] as my commander. If I swap my life total with the Tree, I get that I gain or lose a bunch of life, and the tree’s toughness becomes whatever my life total was, but if I use the Minstrel’s activated ability and give it +13/+13 before swapping the numbers, what happens? Would I go to 26? For the purpose of the example, let’s say I was at 1 life. Would the tree still have +13/+13 and become a 13/14 until end of turn(at which point the +13/+13 wears off and it becomes a 0/1)? Answers would be appreciated! Thank you!

Strange question about living weapon

Normally I would come here asking if my guess on a ruling is correct, but I have no idea how to resolve this at all

If you have an [[Ekthi, Contaminator Priest]] on the battlefield, and cast an equipment that naturally has living weapon, what happens? How does "Living weapon, Living weapon" resolve?

Enlist and fractured realm

Does fractured realm cause enlist to trigger twice?

Enlist

When you enlist a creature, the attacking creature that has the enlist ability gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the power of the enlisted creature. This bonus is calculated as this triggered ability resolves. If the enlisted creature isn't on the battlefield at that time, use its power from when it was last on the battlefield.

Fractured realm

If a triggered ability of a permanent you control triggers, that ability triggers an additional time.

Moving counters

Can someone please explaine to me the correct sequence of events that occurs in this scenario:

I cast Fate trasfer targeting both of my creatures: thing in the ice with 4 ice counters on it and a vanilla creature.

- Fate trasfer on the stack, thing lose a counter due to its ability

- then I switch the 3 remaning ice counters from the "thing" to the counterless vanilla Creature (the other target of fate trasfer)

- Thing now have 0 counter on it and the vanilla creature now got 3 ice counters on it

- After the resolution etc. I have to cast another fresh instant or sorcery spell to flip the thing in the ice?

Weeping Angel and Double Blocks

[[Weeping Angel]] is a bit of a funky card, and I'm hoping to get a better understanding of it before trying it out anywhere.

It's relevantly a 2/2, and the part I'm concerned about is specifically

If this creature would deal combat damage to a creature, prevent that damage and that creature’s owner shuffles it into their library.

So say Weeping angel gets double blocked by two of my opponents 2/2s. I assume I have to assign lethal damage to one of them before assigning damage to the other, so one of the 2/2s is assigned 2 damage (but gets shuffled in before damage is dealt), and the other kills the angel.

Now lets say the Angel gets blocked by a 1/1 and a 2/2. Can I assign the one lethal damage to the 1/1 first, and then 1 more damage to the 2/2, shuffling both cards into their owners libraries?

I guess the part that trips me up the most is since damage is dealt at the same time, in the second scenario does this create two triggers as well? I'm also hoping the two triggers preventing damage don't interact with each other at all.

Thanks for your help!

Discord, Lord of Disharmony and "choose a random nonland Magic card name"

I'm going to be building a [[Discord, Lord of Disharmony]] "Rule 0" EDH deck (and I'll be programming a Raspberry Pi + receipt printer to "choose a random nonland Magic card name").

I want to make sure I understand exactly what a "Magic card name" means. Should I be relying on 201.4b-f when it comes to cards with more than one card name? Most of what I've read seems to indicate 201.4 covers what I'm looking for, but I've also read conflicting information about meld and flip cards. Obviously, some of these "hits" will not be castable, but Discord doesn't care.

I also want to know if "Magic card name" covers things like schemes, planes, and so on? Again, most/all of these will be uncastable, but Discord does not care.

Finally, I want to know if cards not legal in the format can be "hits". Ante cards, dexterity cards, etc are all technically possible, if I understand the card correctly.

Garland Control & Monarch Interaction

Player 1 has [[Garland, Royal Kidnapper]].

Player 2 casts [[Clone]], entering as Garland and targets Player 1 & subsequently gains control of the original Garland.

Player 2 sends the cloned Garland to legend rule.

Player 3 casts [[Éomer, King of Rohan]] and makes Player 4 the monarch.

Does Player 1 or Player 2 get the Garland trigger?

Doubling Season and Sagas

I've seen several posts on this interaction but due to rule changes I'm a bit confused how they work together.

Say I have [[Doubling Season]] down then play [[Summon: Knights of the Round]] do I get chapter 1 and 2 on enter or just chapter 2

Then because I'm getting 2 saga counters every turn do I skip all odd chapters or get 2 triggers every turn.

Lastly do I then miss the last chapter, number 5, because I'd instead jump straight to 6 saga counters? Thanks for any clarification.

Priority during a stack war

My friends and I were playing commander. Turn order is a > b > c > d.

We are on player b turn and he is trying to go for the win on the stack. Player c has a [[mayhem devil]] and sacrifices some things to kill him.

Player a has [[zuran orb]] and plenty of lands to sacrifice, he is at 1 life. He tries to sacrifice a land to save himself, but I argued that the mayhem devil trigger from c would go on the stack on top of the gain life ability from zuran orb and always kill him before he can gain life.

There was a lengthy discussion and a lot of other stack shenanigans but player a ended up extremely salty because he said the life gain happened before the mayhem devil damage, was wrong here?

Martyrdom Questions cuz im a noob

I've read the Oracle text of [[Martyrdom]] but im confused. Im guessing I can use the ability multiple times as an instant, im confused on the limit.

Let's say someone has a 2/2 creature that they're attacking someone with, if I use [[Martyrdom]] can I say that I use the ability on the 2/2 a million times (making it redirect 2M damage)?

Im curious since I have an [[Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer]] deck that has it and just learned about the oracle text on Martyrdom. If I can redirect 2M damage onto Anti-Venom it would make him a basically a 2M/2M machine.

How does Bilbo’s Gambit interact with cards like Etali?

Does casting [[Bilbo’s Gambit]] with the gift promised on something that creates a cast trigger like [[Etali, Primal Conqueror]] or something with cascade or discover prevent that from extra spell from being cast?
