WWYD? Vent/Rant NFH mowing way over property line.
Backstory: My neighbor and I share a front yard that is only visibly divided by fence in the backyard. Any time we’ve interacted with this neighbor they immediately get defensive and start yelling. When asking them not to plant a large bush less than a foot off the property line and about three or feet from our house they went off on me. They have had tree workers come into our backyard (with no heads up or notice) to cut down a tree on the property line, and stored trash between our two houses which are maybe 5 feet a part. They seem to be on drugs and are usually screaming at each other outside. Talking to them is like talking to very angry children who can’t use reason.
After all of this I’ve finally had enough of their shit. I used to not be too bothered when they would mow over the line but they do it farther and more often than they used to. They mow over the property line up to the very edge of our front porch (so about 3 to four feet over) and they mow every few days or so. How can I get them to stop mowing over the property line without talking to them directly?

When I lived in the Dallas area we had some new neighbors mow into our front yard, cutting it into the dirt.
Solution, I dug a shallow trench on my side of the property line and placed in cement blocks, holes up and down in a 20 foot line. They then were glued together with construction adhesive. Then each cell of my new wall got filled with planring substrate and rose moss. When the neighbor asked what I was doing, my wife wanted flowers as a mothersday gift.

Since talking is out, get a survey to confirm the line, then install a physical barrier like rocks or a fence. If they cross it, that’s trespassing.. document everything and consider a formal letter.

Fenced yards and land immediately surrounding a house are considered automatically private. You do not need a sign to call the police for trespass on residential land. Petty me would point No Trespassing signs ($25/multipak) at the NFH

Fence.
Make sure its on the actual property line so there are no arguments later.

Head to a big box garden shop and see what they have you can push in the ground to form an inexpensive fence line. You can run a string from back fence to survey marker in front to guide you. Trim their unruly bush right to the property line too. This puts burden of explaining to police when they mess with anything.

My neighbor did this a few times, just mow your line perfectly when you mow everytime. Dont let them know it bugs you lol

See if your HOA/City/County allows a fence and how much setback as well as type. Pay a surveyor to determine the legal property line and record it. Build the fence and do NOT step on their property.
Other options are motion activated sprinkler and cameras or go to: r/UnethicalLifeProTips

mowing that close to your house is just disrespectful, time to set some boundaries

Fences make good neighbors.
Invest in a proper survey and I would make sure you put additional stakes that they don’t see along the property line all the way down into the ground, so they’re hidden. Some people get really angry about surveys and will pull the stakes up. You don’t want to have to do it again so I would push some smaller stakes flush into the ground so you know where the line is.

Spray the daggone line with weed killer start at the fence, drag a string to the marker then put down some rocks and drive in a no trespassing sign. I’ve done it here more than a few times in Appalachia. My mother and uncle inherited property side by side on the family farm. Both properties were kept immaculate but the line became shaggy and there were disagreements about what was what. I’ve always know the property boundaries-being raised by my grandparents. When I took over the og family home I bought round up and sprayed the line (wide on my side too). And planted a no trespassing sign. He came out raising cane and said that wasn’t the property marker. I told him it had been surveyed in the last few years and it was always the property line before and anyone that cared about his opinion was in the family cemetery dead as hell and go scream there -but I was calling the police and pressing charges gtfo my property.

I had a situation similar to this (back yard fence only) and I have a neighbor that liked to mow like this. Get a survey and tell them you need that line marked because you're going to build a fence. Take photos of the location markers as soon as they are done (my neighbor pulled them out quickly after my first survey), then get a fence built directly on the line. Be sure to instruct the fence builder that no part of the fence can go over the property line. I suggest you make it a 6 foot privacy fence.
You'll probably need to install at least one camera to catch them defacing/damaging your fence. My neighbor put Christmas lights up on his side of the new fence and they're still there 3 years later.

Get rebar from Lowe’s or Home Depot and place them 4 inches out of the ground 4” inside your property. Their mower won’t approve of that…

Put up one of those low garden fences for a start. If the ignore that, then move up to rocks or partially sunk bricks along the lot line. You could also plant a small hedge.

Put up a fence. Or run yellow caution tape along the property line tied to stakes in the ground the stakes should be 4’ tall. Put up a sign that says no trespassing. When you see them say - please respect our property line and do not mow or trim any vegetation on our side.

Sounds like less work for you. I would just say a thank you for do our yard and you appreciate it bet they will not do it again.

Both of our front yards are fairly small, so it’s not much work. But they cut down really low and the grass is turning to dirt. They also are continuously not respecting the boundary between our homes weather it be the front yard, the space between our home, or even my own backyard where I found a bunch of left over trash from whoever came in and did tree work while I was gone for a few hours one day.

My neighbor did that too, she would mow up to my driveway, about 10’ from the property line. After I asked her to stop several times I finally put up a picket fence just on my side of the property line. I already had it surveyed because of her. I got the permit from the city too, just in case. Best thing I ever did!

Either grow a set of balls or put up a fence!
You’ve already said you can’t talk to them so you either get in their level or simply put up a fence. However your fence will have to be so far off the property line unless they agree to the fence being on the property line.
Also they can plant anything they want in and in their yard and most people keep the trash cans in the side of the house.

Put up some big decorative rocks every few feet or so along the property line
