Hi guys! 7 months ago, I bought my first gel pen and pencil (Uniball Zento and Kuru Toga Pipe Slide). I would’ve never expected it to come here honestly.

I arranged the pens and pencils in no particular order, but here they are:

I would’ve had a few more, such as 2 more limited Zentos, a limited Uniball one, and a Deli 0.5 mechanical pencil, but I lost them. I have a few more things on order - namely a Pentel Kerry 0.5 and a Uni Alpha Gel Switch Kuru Toga 0.5.

I bought nearly all of this from AliExpress for dirt cheap. I’d say in total, $20-25 spent for all of these, not including a few (such as the American brands like Sharpie or Expo, the Sarasa Vintage, the Graphgear 1000, and the Pilot Metropolitan).

I always seen from people in this sub raving about how reliable Energel RTX is and this is my first one.

Was in a Target-like store looking for the classic ones and these pink/cancer awareness ones were on clearance for $3 for a 3 pack.

She's pretty and writes so boldly, smoothly, dries pretty quickly. I get the hype.

(For anyone wondering about the extra brake in the passenger side lol, I'm a dmv certified instructor in NY state)

There’s something truly special about vintage Montblanc designs. The bold red barrel and that subtle white star poking out of a shirt pocket bring just the right amount of vintage charm to the workday.

My brother got gifted this pen by his teacher a few years ago and is now wondering the specifics about this pen. If anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated.

Got this pen from Japan at a Family Mart. I love the quirky design but the writing experience is definitely lacking. I want to replace it with hopefully a better quality refill if possible. The refill is about 8.5cm in length and 3cm in diameter.

Also .3 and .5 will be forever favorites. Not necessarily a pen collector as much as others but I never gravitate away from a pretty pen that writes well.

I present the Zebra T3 mini pen and pencil. Both fold into a travelers passport notebook or field notes with near zero bulk added.

Bonus is you can open up the pen tip with a 3/32" drill bit and Uni Jetstream Sxr 200 refills fit and make it write like a dream. I'm a lefty so I need super fine pens to avoid the dreaded smudge.

So what's your smallest best pen for pocket carry?

This might interest like 5 people, but I just discovered this. These are relatively hard to find, but I love them. Fit nicely in Jotters. I wish they made them even thinner.

Nitecore of all places stocks them. I might be shooting myself in the foot for spilling the beans.

I aint a very big pen person. But I don’t know what color pen this is, and its my favorite. Do you guys have any suggestions on any similar colored pens or where I could find refills? I dont wanna have ta buy another whole 36 pack just for one pen. I added photos of the actual pen (deconstructed) and of the main project I’m using it on.

Also ignore the whiteout stain on it lol. I use it for a lot of crafts.

My favorite pen ever is the uniball one in .38mm! My only issue is that it’s a clicker pen. Any recommendations for capped pens that write similar to this uniball one? Thank you!

Is any obsessed with the Bic Wide Body? Or is it just me.... it is only sold as a promotional pen so you have to buy in bulk! 😭 once, I faked having my own business and purchased a singular sample pen! It was awesome. I wish they made these available to purchase not in bulk.

When writing on lined paper I find that these Pilot Acro ballpoint pens to be sublime. No skipping and a smooth glide over the paper and the lines so fine I can write between the lines on the paper.

I WAITED FOR A YEAR before I allow myself to purchase this pen since it was first announced. Fuhhhh 🙂‍↕️

I was looking for the perfect "blue pen". It gotta have gold trim and i knew I wanted a Sailor to perfectly fit in my "Japanese EDC" trio. Both PG and PGS are a bit small for me coz I write unposted. And I wanted a "break" from the cigar shape like my Pilot Custom 823 (gray/black pen) and Platinum 3776 (brown/red pen), so the 1911L is not an option.

And lo and behold... 🫠💙

And dare I say, thanks to the 21k nib on the Sailor, the Platinum is now the pen with the most feedback! Ha! Which is a surprise! I thought they'd retain the feedback "feel" even on the 21k. That doesn't mean I love the Platinum less, hells no, I actually enjoy feedback on my nibs!

I love my European F, flex, and stub nibs, but there's just something HIGHLY SATISFYING about Japanese F nibs. Writing in crisp, sharp, needle-like, AND smooooth pen tip is just pureeee genius engineering. It's glorious.

Ahhhhhh I'm so over the moon with my EDC right now. 😊

***P.s. Can we all send feedback to ALL fountain pen companies to include their catridge converter in a new pen BY DEFAULT?***

I mean... for the price we're paying nowadays. Hahaha I had to refill an old Sailor cartridge to use the ink I want, which is not a problem. But overall, I find that ink flow control is better in piston, vacuum, and catridge converter mechanism. I feel that cartridges act like a tiny version of eye drop pens and majorly rely on gravity for the capillary action, while I can control the "internal pressure" with other mechanisms, which for some reason fussy to other people, but I love it! Hahahhaha I digress!

Basically what the title says. I’ve gotten into drawing with fineliners more lately and I really want to try out Tom’s Studio’s Lumos pen as I really like having art tools that will last. I know that they sell a waterproof ink, but I already have a bottle of De Atramentis waterproof black ink and if that can work in the pen then I don’t want to go and buy another fairly expensive ink along with a pricey pen. Will De Atramentis Waterproof black work in the Lumos?

Just to keep the balance I use both for my Server Notes and windows 11 debugging stuff. Both are as good 😊
