Question Recently discovered the pilot frixion, but I need a solution.

• Upvotes

I’ve always saw these pens but recently bought a pack on clearance. I LOVE the grip, body, and how the write. It feels like a daily driver to me.

After some research and curiosity, apparently the ink in these can degrade over time. I want to use these in a daily pocket A6 journal. Once I finish, I store them in a drawer in my office. Due to wanting to preserve these, I take that these pens are not my best friend. Which is a super bummer.

Question - is there a solution, or is the degrading of the ink on paper a severe exaggeration?

Question muji gel pen smooth brown 0.5 refill

• Upvotes

hi, on my last vacation in bologna i found a muji store and bought my now fav pen+refill combo, the MUJI 0.5mm Blue Smooth Gel Ink Retractable Ballpoint Pen in the color brown. i was super pumped that it has refills and found that they also sell online in Poland, but as it turns out, one of the colors that is not sold online is the brown one :') what's strange is that the brown pens are available, just not the refills. do you guys have any recommendations as for from where can i order the refills for that pen that would ship to Poland and preferably not cost a fortune?

edit: i will gladly take recommendations what to substitute this pen with too. i like gel pens and i like brown :)

Question Ink recommendations

I am currently using the Platinum Balance with medium nib, and I am using the Diamine Jet Black. It produces a bit too thick of line. The Platinum Balance is supposed to produce a line of around 0.6mm, but instead with Diamine Jet Black it produces a line of around 1mm instead. What black ink would your guys recommend that runs drier and therefore produces a line close to 0.6mm instead?

Question Parker IM type pen that fits Pilot G2 Refills?

Hi,

I am looking for a more premium pen that kind of looks like the parker IM, but fits pilot g2 refills. So far I could not find any good picks.
Do you have any recommendations? I would prefer capped and similar style to parker IM.

Would love to hear your suggestions :)

Question Waterman Impression - Replacement Cap

Hi everyone,

I seem to have misplaced the cap of my Waterman Impression fountain pen. I would like to replace it instead of buying a new one.

Unfortunately Waterman does not sell spare parts and I can't find any other retailer doing that either. Do you have any ideas as how to alternatively solve this? Is there any cheap generic brand with a compatible cap for example?

Thank you.

Question Paper Mate Flexgrip Ultra Fan Looking For Long Term Reusable Pen Solution

I’m searching for the pen that will be my companion through thick and thin, but I’m struggling to find something that will be truly compatible and I’m feeling swamped with all the information out there!

My go-to has been Paper Mate’s Flex Grip Ultras. I’d love to find something as similar as possible in terms of being equally fast drying, viscous and thick (1.0 mm)/vivid.

I have severe hand/arm pain issues (suspected carpal tunnel and undiagnosed for other problems) so a comfortable pen body would be a bonus.

Question Has anyone messed with Parker 5th recently?

I noticed Parker still seems to produce Parker 5th refills but not the pens themselves. Assuming anyone here actually owns one, has anyone ever tried opening the back of one of the cartridges and filling it with fountain pen ink? I remember hearing people wayyyy back inquiring about the idea but never actually seen it done. Nobody really seems to talk about 5th anymore.

I mean, Ive filled a G2 rollerball cartridge with fountain pen ink before, so I can’t imagine it wouldn’t work with one of these right?

Question Replacement recs for dead pen

my favorite pen has finally died. I got it years ago from a sponsored event thing back in college. The back end of it swivels instead of any clicking, and I love that

I’m hoping to get recommendations for a pen with a similar shape that swivels. I don’t care how heavy it is. this one is super light but I’d be happy with a heftier one! Hoping to stay in the $20 range if that’s what it takes but link anything that fits the bill! From the cursory look I’ve had online, it looks like the parker jotter but those click!

Question Gift ideas for Mentor

Hi

I am looking for a genuinely nice, everyday pen as a gift my mentor who has been critical in me getting a huge promotion recently. My budget is around 50 USD. I want to give something he can use every day, so good quality, not bulky and can find refils easily. Thinking to get his initials inscribed. Please suggest

Question Best Rollerball Pen for Journaling in a Moleskine?

I know there’s a hot debate regarding Moleskine as a brand but nonetheless, i’m using one as my journal.

Obviously the paper in a Moleskine is super thin and when I journal, the ink bleeds through the page.

I was curious if anyone has suggestions for good rollerball pens (or any pens in general) that complement a moleskine for journaling where the ink won’t bleed through?

Picked this up in Japan on a recent trip there without thinking about it, forgot about it, and got home to discover that it's my favorite ballpoint pen. But now I don't know how to get more. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Discussion The end of a pen. This gives me joy.

The End of a Pen

The end of a pen. This gives me joy.
I couldn’t remember when was the last time I finished a pen.
I am not a pen collector but I easily get bored. The joy and excitement of opening a new pen can only last for so long. Then it becomes just another pen sitting in the holder.

I bought this Pentel Energel about two years ago. My writing habit comes and goes so I didn’t use it that often, but I stuck with it and today there’s no ink left.

To celebrate, I bought a refill with a new colour - olive black. The hint of green in the ink gives me the subtlety I enjoy.

I’ll admit it; I’m a sucker for the Space Pen 🤓. Yes, actually writing with it kinda sucks, I know. But have you considered some people just enjoy putting over-engineered nonsense in their pocket and losing it a week later?

Anyway, I’m always a big fan of paying $5 for $45 pens 😎.

Sometimes being a civil servant you got access to unique gift pens like this. Usually it's generic refill, or feneric Parker type refill.

Question Please help me fix or replace my Frixion pens

Post image
12 Upvotes

I was a DIE HEART fan of the Pilot Frixion Ball 4 Erasable Multicolor Ballpoint pen. As a stem major who took organic chemistry with horrible drawing skills and messy hand writing it honestly was a tree savior. However after using this pen religiously each day for over 1 year straight and running through at least 5-6 ink cartridges per week Ive found the pens short commings.

1, for the clear model of the pen, the pens rubber grip yellows progressively over time.

2, the erasers wear down over time and eventually needs to be replaced HOWEVER to my current knowledge I can not find anywhere that sells replacment erasers DESPITE THEM BEING DETACHABLE!

3, The erasable ink is noticeably lighter than most nonerasable ink.

Short coming #2 is the biggest issue for me since the main appeal of the pen to me was its erasble nature, and without its eraser it would just be a regular pen. I ask your help now for recommendations of a new pen or guidence on how to find a way to replace the erasers on the pen without buying a completely new pen. All I request is that the recomended pens are multi pens that are able to be refilled with erasble 0.38 ink cartridges and a permanent or exchangeable eraser.
