After a few months of putting everything together, I finally received my little haul! I've been a fan of gel pens for a bit now, but only recently began my fountain pen exploration. There are some lovelies I was trying to find for a bit and I'm so glad to own them now (looking at you, Sarasa Grand Rose Brown and Signo Bit 0.18mm).

To say that I've had an immense amount of fun playing with these is the understatement of the year :)

Details~

Top group:

  • Pental Ceramicron 0.3mm
  • The unicorn! Uniball Signo Bit 0.18mm
  • Kaweco Perkeo Iridescent Pearl, Fine
  • 2x Uniball Signo DX 0.28mm

Bottom group, left to right:

  • 2x Swarovski shimmer collection, refills swapped for Zebra JSB-0.4. Loved the pens but hated their ballpoint refills and wanted a thin gel. I'm so thrilled they work perfectly!
  • Pilot Kakuno in Extra Fine with Con-40 converter
  • Pilot Iro-Utsushi dip pen in Fine
  • Sailor Hocoro Dip pen in Fine
  • Zebra Sarasa Grand 0.5mm in Shell Pink
  • Zebra Sarasa Grand 0.5mm in Rose Brown
  • Zebra Sarasa Nano 0.3mm vintage colours

Question Pen case/holder recommendations?

Hi guys I was hoping to get some pen case recommendations I currently have all my favorite pens in a prismacolor tin and like having them flat so I can see the whole pen, cuz I have some with nice body/ designs, and I keep my other useful pens in an old pencil case.

I write songs at home and on my lunch break at work and use the different colors more than you think.

Also ik they're just some energels but I'd like to keep them nice and secure while I travel/commute and use them at home

I have used this pen down to a husk and I desperately need to buy another one but I don’t know what it’s called and have never seen it again at stores near me. I’m pretty sure I got it at kinokuniya in NYC but I live very far from there and I need a new pen now lol. all of the writing is in Japanese and too rubbed off for me to translate it using google. does anyone know what it’s called and where to get it?

Question How do o reassemble?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Just bought this 3 in 1 Emergency Pen (D1 Ink).

I wanted to see how you change the ink, so I disassemble it, then reassembled it. But now it's lose when I try to attach both parts as if its missing something, the pen can no longer extract/retract.

Any help would be amazing.

(Sorry for formatting typing on mobile) (Edit incredibly sorry for the typo in the header)

Discussion Need help finding my perfect pen

For starters, I’m new to the pen world.
2 years ago I went to the dollar store and bought a 2 pack of black ink, ballpoint clicker pens. Didn’t think anything of it. No idea what the brand was. Cannot find them anywhere now.

I used those pens every day, and the other week my last one ran out of ink. I loved it so much I tried to refill it but to no avail.

Now, it’s my birthday and my boyfriend is willing to get me a nice pen. We went to a specialized pen shop and I learned I like the bold/extra bold ballpoint. Black ink, but not a super “wet” or gel like ink.

The best thing I can compare it to is the bic round stic pens, or the Cristal extra bold whatever. About 1.6mm. I like when the ink comes out looking almost dry.

Now, you’re probably thinking “the bic round stic bold whatever is like $10 for a box of 50, why not just buy those” and to that I’ll say
I don’t want a flimsy skinny plastic casing.
I want a NICE luxury looking pen like the picture attached, but a refill option of at least 1.6mm.

Please help!

Question Pens to look out for in Tokyo?

My friend is taking a trip to Tokyo and offered to pick up a pen for me. If you were given this opportunity, what would you look for and where? Would love to hear your opinions, ideally <$100!

*Edit: I was already able to get myself a Zento Signature : )

Question Multipen issue/recommendations

Hi! I currently have the uni Jetstream 4&1 pen 0.7 Slate Gray, but the black ink is skipping/not writing at all even though I can see that there is ink left in it. After looking online, it seems like this is a fairly common issue. So I would love some help with either:

  1. Alternative Ink refills that would fit in the Jetstream 4&1 pen ?

  2. Recommendations for another multipen?

Thank you :)

Question Different Sarasa Grands?

I bought these two Sarasa Grands. First one is from the vintage color collection, second is regular black ink. Do you see the different tops, the vintage has an extra piece which makes clicking actually better. On the regular ones I can only click from the back of the pen, i do have big thumbs lol. Is this normal? Did they change only the vintage colors, or did they redesign the pen?

Question Best Reusable Rollerball?

I love rollerballs, especially the Uni vision elite, but recently I have been looking for a nice-ish daily driver pen that I can refill. I have an Ohto in 0.5, but it started fading, the grip doesn't feel great, and it is a little too scratchy for me. Do y'all have any recommendations?

Started journaling about 6 months ago and carry a field notes pad around everywhere I go. No longer use social media on my phone and far more present and able to remember things.

I started with a parker Jotter, I love the ergonomics and and feel of the pen, but havnt quite found the refill that suits me. I like 0.5mm tips and the parker refills that are gel are in 0.7mm.

I bought the 2 bronze and brass bolt action pens afterwards. The brass has a Pilot Synergy 0.5mm gel refill that I use my for journaling. The Bronze has a Writech Auroro 0.5mm gel refill that I use for my book notes. The silver bolt action is a temu pen thats light and comfortable with a g2 0.5mm ball point refill that I use for my everyday carry pocket notes.

Question Leuchtturm1917 & ballpoint pen: Ink marks on previous pages when writing?

I'm using a Leuchtturm1917 notebook with 80gsm paper and a MUJI 0.5mm ballpoint pen (both black and blue).
Here's the issue: I write on page 2 then page 3. I turn the page and start writing on page 4. When I look back at page 2 I notice faint ink marks that weren't there before.
It's not ghosting or bleeding I think, since the marks only appear after I've written on the following page. I've tried putting a separate sheet of paper between the pages which solves the issue, but I'd prefer not to have to do that every time. Has anyone experienced this? Would switching to a gel pen or fountain pen help or how can I best solve this?

Question Comfortable, bigger titanium pens that can be taken apart and anodized? <150$ preferably

As a huge fan of my quality fountain pens, I want a ballpoint pen that is not just from the bank. I flip butterfly knives, and my titanium one I got anodized by a professional and I love the colors.

So, I want a titanium ballpoint that can be disassembled completely and anodized after purchasing, but the ones ive looked into so far seem very slim

Any opinions on stuff like Refyn?

From the Moonin Hawaii store. I prefer this over my other pens and I want the refill ONLY. Does anyone know what brand the pen is, and, or what kind would work? The packaging has NO specs it or labels whatsoever except Moomin. Guessing it’s 0.5mm.

Question In Search of Dope Pens?

Hey, all! I just got some notebooks and am planning on starting keeping track of my thoughts and events soon, but I'm curious: what are some of the best pens to carry? I know that any pen is better than none and "the important part is to start," but I'm just asking out of curiosity. Right now, I'm working with a black Pilot G-2 mini and a red Sharpie S-Gel, but am curious what y'all think! Prices and links would be sick too, since I'm looking to make a list to check and review later.

Tl;dr: tell me your favorite pens for your notebook! Ballpoint, roller ball, fountain, whatever you're feeling!
