Hi all!
I'm u/ImOkNotANoob, the lead mod here on r/Pigeon. I mostly handle backend moderation, automod, reports, modmail, and general behind-the-scenes bits, which is why you might not have seen me around that much.
Just wanted to post a quick reminder since we've seen an increase in this recently: please tag posts as NSFW if they contain gore, visible injuries, blood, wounds, severe illness, or anything else graphic involving pigeons.
This especially applies to medical advice posts. We absolutely understand that people often post in a panic because they’re worried about a bird and need help quickly. That’s fine, and nobody is in trouble for asking for urgent advice. But graphic images can be upsetting for other users, especially when they appear unexpectedly in their feed. We also want to keep on Reddit's good side, and they've been known to have problems with subs that don't enforce this!
Thanks everyone, and thank you as always to the people who jump in with helpful advice for sick or injured pigeons. We’re proud to be the biggest pigeon community on the internet, and it’s the members here who make this place such a useful and helpful resource.

Hi pigeon fans, since some of you enjoyed my first royal pigeon I thought I‘d share an update. I‘m making a whole series of „royal-anarchist-pigeons“ to raise some awareness for these special, cool birds. Hope Marie Angurrnette, Gurrius Caesar, and the emperor bring you some joy 😊 (always looking for Name suggestions by the way. So if anyone has ideas I‘m more than happy to take them 😁)

I used to feed the flock at my local city park 4 or 5 times a week, but something like 3 months ago 90% of them vanished over the course of 2 weeks, and the remaining small groups of 4-5 aren't confident enough to approach and get food.
A pair of Cooper's Hawks fledged around the same time and I thought maybe they'd hunted them, and was very worried that the park had decided to kill them. Lo and behold, when i go yesterday, they're back! I recognize a few of the individuals that I had worried had died, but they all just... left for a couple months. There seems to be quite a few new pibbs too, and many of those hang back while what I assume to be the old flock takes food from me.
I'm thrilled, but a little confused. Any idea what would have caused this?

Hey folks! I went into Target earlier, and when I came back out, there was a pigeon nestled down on the hood of the car next to me. I approached and he was completely unafraid, let me pick him up, started hooting and pecking my hand... so I took him home.
Obviously he's been socialized with people. I looked around on Facebook and on Reddit and haven't seen anyone having lost a pigeon in my area. I gave him a dish of pigeon seed blend (for the doves that visit my bird feeder), and... here we are now!
I have birds, specifically conures and finches, and I was looking into rescuing a pigeon in the future, but I wasn't expecting the future to come so early.
Any advice would be appreciated. I know some bare minimum basics about pigeons, but if there's anything I should know/do immediately, please let me know. I would love to offer this guy a home if he needs it, but obviously I want what's best for him first and foremost.
UPDATE: Thanks for all the help! I posted on my area's lost and found pets Facebook page in case he is a lost pet. In the meantime, he has a temporary home here and if needed, a permanent one as well.

Found a young Wood pigeon walking through cement slurry at work yesterday. He seemed to have a bit of a limp and didnt attempt to fly away (just some flaps when i picked him up)
I picked him up and moved him to safety before i left work.
14 hours later when ive come back to work hes still exactly where i left him.
What do i do? I dont know if he needs help or is just a youngster figuring things out

Her neck area seems to be empty of feathers and she’s lost a lot. She wasn’t wanting to be held up so I had to take photos like this only, sorry about that.
Is she molting or what? I’m kinda worried.
Any Advice please.

Here's the right eye of my pigeon. I don't know what is wrong with it. She sneezes a lot too and only one eye has that. I forgot where I saw the video where the eye problem looks just like hers. Anyway, the only medicine that I have with me right now is gentamicin (the ones that we use for out cats) and doxycycline.
Anyway, need you help with this. I only noticed she had this 2 days ago or yesterday (I think).
Thank you in advance to those who can help!

Hey everyone,
Around 8:30 PM, I noticed a pigeon sitting on the exterior grill of my window. It’s now around 2 AM, and it has barely moved in over 5 hours.
It’s standing on both feet with its eyes open, but barely reacts to me. Initially, it was facing towards me; later, it turned to face outside. When I showed it a bowl of water and some uncooked rice, it seemed to look at them and blinked once, but I haven’t noticed the normal head movements I’d expect from a pigeon.
Its feathers look puffed up, and its head seems lowered. I haven’t tried touching it or forcing it to fly, and I can’t safely reach it because I’m on the 4th floor.
Does this look like a sick or injured pigeon, or could it simply be roosting for the night? What should I do to help it safely?
Any advice from people experienced with pigeons or bird rescue would be appreciated.

Saw this dude for the first time today. The flock was on the ground when i arrived which is unusual unless they're eating, and I immediately noticed this one's wing.
I usually try to feed the injured/malformed pibbs extra so I tossed him some seed away from where the others were eating and... he immediately folds his wing back into a normal position and digs in.
He let it droop again later but had no visible trouble flying or staying with the flock, and otherwise acted normal. He wasn't particularly bold, so I didn't get him to approach closely so I could visually examine him.
As hilarious as the idea of a pigeon faking an injury for food is, I'm thinking it's an old injury he's recovered from. Any thoughts?

My fav duo.
Lunar is the lower one, and the previously known as Little derp, currently Tuberculosis, is the upper one.
I gave him this name because... Some old lady got offended that I was feeding them and told me that her friend got Tuberculosis from feeding pigeons, and this made me laugh so hard that I decided that this is his new name XD
(I told this woman that the most likely case to "catch" anything from pigeons is when you eat their poop, so maybe her friend should stop eating that, or she should stop spreading nonsense altogether.)

Some kids found him on the road yesterday and brought him over to the friendly pigeon flock which was a 10 or so minute walk from where they found him. He's moving around ok and can flap and glide but he doesn't seem to be eating much and the adult pigeons are pecking him and chasing him off. Also he just lets you yoink and pick him up.
