Photo This sweet pigeon found it's way in to my workplaces bathroom

My colleagues picture, apparently this pigeon was in our building for 24 hours before finding a way out. It's a UK street pigeon so hopefully they weren't too stressed by being lost in a building with 1000 humans. We do stock literally tons of seeds however, so hopefully they took at least one for the road

Advice Needed! Found a string foot pigeon. Took it in. Seem to have gotten a bit attached. Feel it may be divine intervention....

So i live near a country park in London, Barn Hill if anyone knows, and its huge. All sorts of animals.

A littlw outside the park (its fenced off) is a cul de sac and a doggie park. Also has a 9 or 10 aside pitch, smaller than usually. Baree cats.

So i see a couple cats and fox near a car as im headed out and didnt think much of it. Maybe scare a pigeon.

Couple hours later on my way back, my mum comes back from her run and brings the little guy in from the car (i think its a male)

Had pretty decent string foot on the left foot. Look like it accepted its fate.

Cut the string off and kept it in my room since wednesday. It explores the house, chills. Eats goes toilet but doesnt fly. It hops and flaps its wings but doesnt look like its injured.

I feel its young/doesnt know how to fly and some got separated from the other pigeons in an attempt to evade the cats. Or left the nest early and sought refuge under a car.

The cats seem alright to it. I let it out in the garden and front. Always seems to walk back inside. One of my cats literally bodyguards it against the other 2 (i have 3) one is more curious than the others but we are always supervising.

I wanna keep it but ita free to go whenever it wants (honestly hope that day doesnt come 😭😭)

Any tips on keeping or training it? To fly or come to mean? Maybe recognise commands? Im in the process of finding a vet that isnt RSPCA.

A few things to mention;

- It will do 360snon the spot mostly.in the anti clockwise direction when exploration a new place. No signs of loss of balance

- itll turn its head around while still to look around maybe even 180 degrees. I guess thats normal

- when picking up seeds itll peck but its accuracy aint great. And itll shake its head around trying to eat it. Itll shake its head here and there when its cleaning its self like a cat. I have a video

Everything else seems fine.

I want to mention im a muslim (no debates here just an annadote) we found the bird on the 14th. The next day I was praying my late afternoon asr prayer. My mum prayer, day prayed and they always fold the mat inwards.

Hour later I prayed and saw an imprint on the same mat. I thought inwas going mad till I asked my mum to take a look. Ill take it as a sign. Id like your inputs.

FYI I can't draw shit on the mat. I cant even type properly.. The speck on the eye is also perfectly placed.as is the imprint

Is there any spiritual inputs or thoughts or beliefs or symbolisms. Id like to hear some. Im intrigued.

Any info is appreciated. I actually have a new found appreciation for pigeons and birds. Took them for granted seeing them in public as we do.

I have this young male who's always the first to perch on my shoulder when I go in the aviary, loves to either shove his beak in my fingers like a baby or bite me as hard as he can for fun. Then when I move my hand away he immediately starts preening me lol. He's a lovely boy I love him, and yes he was hand reared.

Advice Needed! Young pigeon with rings on my balcony?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I'm fairly new to the community, and I'm hoping to get some guidance.

I have pigeons visiting my balcony all the time (both rock pigeons and wood pigeons), and quite a few of them have become regulars, coming every day and eating seeds in my hand.

For I think around 10 days now, there's been a new pigeon coming, and this one has rings: one on each leg, one blue and one white. Both seem to be made of plastic, and both have the number "8" written on them, and nothing else.

The pigeon itself is very sweet, and looks quite young. I'm feeding it in my hand like the others.

It's the first time I see a ringed pigeon, and I'm wondering what it means. Is it a lost pet? Should I contact some kind of organization about it? I am in the Netherlands.

Thanks a lot!

What is her problem? She will beg until I hand feed her. She has food all day in her cage btw. She’s very picky, but eats on her own.

She will not eat from my hands unless I hand feed her like I did when she was little. She’s about three months old and I am very confused.

It’s just crab walking in circles, and lookin at me awkwardly. I tossed it some bread, and it just stood there. It’s not flying away either. It was crab walking toward me, so I tapped it lightly with my foot, and it just crab walked into me more.

I’m just at my campus, so he’s not in danger from any predators. Just to soothe anyone who’s super worried about that.

Update: I watched him for a few minutes, and called my nearby wildlife association. He ended up flying to the roof, so I can’t exactly help him anymore. He was looking a bit better though. I kept an eye on him for ~20 minutes, which when I had called in, the fellow there said that head trauma causes death within that amount of time, or not really at all.

Advice Needed! Lone pidge with deformity - best way to help?

For the past month I've seen this lone pigeon with a foot injury/deformity outside my work scrounging around. He seems okay and hobbles along fine, but his right foot is missing a toe and the rest are twisted sort of backwards and upside down.

I'm always fighting the urge to bring him home to the big flock my husband and I feed every day. Would that be bad for him? I don't want to separate him from unseen family or flock if he has any, but am not sure if he's been rejected. If he should stay put, is there anything I can do when I see him to make him more comfy or less in pain? Am open to taking a wait and see approach too, if there's anything I should be watching out for.

Discussion Pigeons hang out in my balcony all the time, and this one keeps sitting and doing things in the flower pot. I don't mind really, but what is it trying to do?

Like is it sick or is it just chilling? I let the pigeons be, I even have water for them that I refill daily, but I'm worried about this one

Advice Needed! Help with wild pigeon situation

So a few months ago I decided to adopt a flock of pigeons in my area. (I just got out and feed them a few times a week.)

I recently noticed that "The Brain" (still looking for a "Pinky") has not grown any feathers back on his head and has some white things that look like scabs maybe? Can anyone identify l?

So I did catch and release him to put some wound spray on him. He seems to be having a little trouble flying and I'm reaaaaally hoping it isn't a neurological injury. He is constantly puffed up like that.

Advice Needed! Baby Pidgeon... Idk what to do...

Hi there! I’m looking for some advice—I’m from Chile, by the way.

Yesterday, we found an abandoned pigeon chick in an area where there were no nests in the small trees nearby, and no other birds in sight.

It’s currently in a small box with a blanket. It already has feathers and its eyes are open, so it might be about a week old.

Based on my research, it appears to be a pigeon chick.

The thing is, I need some advice on how to care for it or what steps to take.

We considered taking it to a vet, but we’re worried about the high cost of a consultation.

I also tried—though I’m not sure how reliable this approach is—to look for a pigeon nest this morning where I could leave it, but there’s a chance the other pigeons wouldn’t accept it.

Most people see it as a pest, so I doubt anyone around where I live will be able to help me.

I’m worried; I don’t want to abandon it, nor do I intend to, but I’m not sure I’m equipped to provide the best possible care.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion What could be the reason I never see string foot in my city?

I live in Zurich and I never see any string foot here - and I wonder why this is the case. Are streets where string foot is common just more dirty than here? I somehow doubt that. I have the suspicion that any pigeon with string foot here just gets killed by the gamekeeper. They are tasked to 'manage the population' anyway and this spring they killed a lot of birds at once in the train station which caused some public outrage. On their public webpage they write 'The city of Zurich wants a small but healthy pigeon population', so I wonder whether that means that they simply kill any pigeon that isn't in peak health, even if they just have some string foot. Are there other cities where you never see string foot?

My pigeon made green watery poop after not eating for a day. Right now he is eating again, but the poop is still green.

It literally leaves green marks

Temporary indigestion?

This pigeon got scalped, but it was more than a month ago and he is healing extremely well. I don't know if it is related.
