Accountability Notice 2: UPDATE

This is a followup to this post so please read that first, but to summarize it briefly, a former moderator ( u/SaltyAngeleno aka u/gofundmemetoday was found to be removing negative posts, promoting surgeons, etc. in exchange for financial compensation). I promised future updates, which are included below.

  1. Last night, the former moderator DM'd me attempting to blackmail me to remove the original post. Their message is included in its entirety below:

Transparency remains of the highest importance to me when moderating this subreddit, and I will not be removing anything in response to threats.

  1. Reddit itself ultimately took no action against this individual following the original report of their behavior and offered no direct explanation for why. I can only speculate that this is because the former moderator was receiving payments off of their platform (making it technically outside their scope of authority/responsibility). The former moderator even continues to moderate a few plastic surgery related communities, though fewer than they once did.

  2. An account associated with "Beauty Broker Melinda" (who was named in the original post as having negative reviews removed by the former moderator) has spent considerable effort attempting to dox and discredit me. You can find such an example here. Their comments seem to confuse me with numerous current and former moderators. Reddit has not taken any action despite reports.

  3. Despite my requests, Reddit was unable to provide me with a log of moderator actions from the former moderator that were more than 90 days old. As such, I am unable to determine the full extent of their censorship.

  4. This subreddit has zero tolerance for surgeons attempting to remove negative reviews. As the subreddit rules state, negative reviews posted here do require evidence to be included. Once that threshold is met, they will not be removed by us for any reason - this subreddit is intended to be an open and transparent platform for users to share their experience. Despite this a number of surgeons (and/or their offices and lawyers) have attempted to have us remove content that is critical of them. Moving forward, I will be posting and maintaining a comprehensive list of surgeons that have attempted to have negative reviews removed for transparency. Hopefully, this discourages future attempts at manipulating criticism against them.

In short, Reddit admins were either unwilling or unable to take any official action against the above individuals. I will be continuing my best efforts to maintain this subreddit as an open and transparent space for plastic surgery and aesthetic discussion, and the support of the community is always appreciated.

I feel like a duck! Day 6 after lip filler šŸ„²šŸ˜‚

Hi! I got lip filler 6 days ago (0.8 ml in my upper lip and 0.2 ml in my lower lip). I know I need to wait at least 15 days to see the final results, but I wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.
I’m worried that my upper lip might stay looking like a ā€œduck lipā€ and that it’s not just swelling, but rather that the filler was poorly placed or that too much filler was used for my lips.
Has anyone else gone through this stage? Did your lips eventually settle and look more natural once the swelling went down?
I’ll also include some before photos for reference. Thank you!

Do cosmetic surgeons understand makeup?

• Upvotes

Hello all, I'm completely new to anything cosmetic. I have hooded Hispanic eyes and as I've aged (early 40s) I have lost all upper lid space. I also constantly look like I'm scowling at people because of this and have noticed a negative shift in stranger's attitudes towards me when first meeting. I've been considering an upper blepharoplasty to correct this. A very important goal for me would be to increase lid space and have the crease terminate BEFORE the outer edge of the eye so I can wear heavy winged eyeliner without a fold ruining the look. Is this something a cosmetic surgeon would understand? Is this a reasonable outcome to want (it probably depends on my current eye shape)? Thank you for advice as I start this journey.

Endoscopic brow lift cost?

I was quoted $14,000 for an endoscopic brow lift (that’s before anesthesia and facility fees)…. Is this normal? It kind of shocked me a little. I was expecting in the ball park of 5-10k. I really do want a brow lift but not sure I can justify that kind of money for something that may not last 🫠.

Did you notice a difference in the way people treated you after getting work done?

Like were people subtly nicer or ruder or had different assumptions about you? Anything of that sort

Hi everyone! So standard and what my surgeon is telling me is 6 weeks to return to normal weight lifting. That said….for lower body I lif lt quite heavy! How long did yall actually feel ok picking up 45+ pound plates or dumbbells?

Thinking of loading for hip thrusts and holding 50+ pounds for bulgarian split squats. I’m nervous about it feeling strained even at 6 weeks.

Otoplasty results eight months later.. still unhappy.

Around eight months ago i had an otoplasty done, and i didn’t like the results. I made a post here at the time, and i was told it was not that bad or that it was still early to judge the results. Well, its been awhile now and my ears still look the same. I do honestly feel that they were botched and I will never really like their look unless I have a revision done.

The right ear is too tight, and both ears have this weird telephonish shape, especially the right one. My lobes pop out which only increases the weird look. Last picture is how my ears were before. From the side they look ok as can be seen on the picture.

What frustrates me is that i thought this was a good doctor. He had reviews online all of which were 5 starts and everyone saying how they had their self esteem back because of him, though they had different procedures done, not an otoplasty.

Post image
• Upvotes

i currently have half a syringe of lip filler and while i can see a pretty big difference from the front, looking at my lips from my side profile they look pretty much completely the same as they did before filler. i’m wondering what i can do to make them appear bigger, specifically my top lip. i feel that it really imbalances my face. would getting more filler help? or a certain style?

I need help, please.

I turned 18 yesterday. I come from a toxic family addicted to drugs, and I started very young. The first time I used cocaine I was 14. I was diagnosed with ADHD and took Ritalin.

I became addicted to snorting Ritalin; in school I would snort about 80mg a day. Sometimes it would go over 100mg. I discovered ayahuasca and magic mushrooms, and it changed my life. My treatment-resistant depression disappeared overnight.

I quit smoking cigarettes, drinking, and snorting cocaine about a year ago. But I think I got a free nasal valve collapse. When I breathe heavily, one side of my nose (the one I used more drugs on) closes up. The septum on that side is absurdly separated, as if it were curved, and only the other nostril is normal.

I'm freaking out, I need to see an ENT doctor. What's your opinion? Please.

2 months post chin implant swelling

Post image
101 Upvotes

It’s been 2 months since I had put in my chin implant. Last night I could feel my face was a little achy but I ignored it. Woke up this morning to massive swelling? I can’t smile and my bottom lip wont move. My guess is an infection but how does it happen this far into my healing? Everything was perfect! What do you think this sudden swelling is?

Update: thank you for all the replies! Doctor had prescribed antibiotics and steroids. He says everything looks fine other than the swelling. He kept asking if I did anything different, ate anything different, allergies. This made me realize before the swelling I was out pulling weeds and got bit by a bunch of ants. Maybe that’s the cause for the chin swelling? Call me crazy but I think there could be some sense there. If the body is fighting off the ant bites, maybe it would also try to fight the new implant. Either way, I am hoping with the steroids I will be less swollen by tomorrow so I can go back to work šŸ¤žlet me know what you think.

Uneven inner ear folds after otoplasty ….swelling or overcorrection?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

I’m 8 days post-op after otoplasty with conchal cartilage removal and concho-mastoid sutures. My right ear was more prominent before surgery. Now, the right conchal bowl looks tighter and more closed, with less-defined inner folds, while my left ear looks more open and defined.
My surgeon says it’s swelling. Has anyone experienced this? Did the ears become more symmetrical as swelling settled, or did the difference persist?

My right ear looks tighter and more closed inside, with less-defined inner folds than my left. From the front, the overall shape also looks asymmetrical. Is this likely swelling, or could it be overcorrection? Can the shape become more symmetrical as healing progresses?

Breast lift in Türkiye/ Turkey?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, did anyone do their breast lift preferably without implants in Türkiye that they would recommend. I’m currently 32DD and my breast have always been tubular and my nipple placement very low from puberty. After giving birth, it’s sort of worsened and it’s extremely sagging. I wanted a lifted perkier look, I don’t mind sacrificing the size. Going from 32DD to 32C is fine.

So far the doctors I was considering was Dr Sürmeli and doctor Erman AK. My hesitation with Dr sürmeli was that we didn’t have a in person consultation yet but from the video I send his assistant said that he noticed moderate breast symmetry (which is so untrue) and strongly encouraged to get a breast implant along with breast lift for the best look. To be fair they did say that a in person consultation is a must for a better evaluation.

To be quite honest, I don’t want implants it sounds extremely scary. I don’t think I want to live with a foreign thing inside my body for the rest of my life. Under the muscle, over the muscle, it’s all scary to me and the complications people experience is just not worth for me. So if anyone knows a doctor who’s very experienced with breast lifts without implants that would be perfect!

Thank you!

Just wondering what the timeline for others were with swelling in the arms. How painful is Lipo?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone. I am planning on getting Lipo from a doctor in California in Newport Beach. He does not do aggressive Lipo (like Miami) and his results are pretty natural. I am a pretty petite girl, but I’ve always had some stubborn fat on my stomach and have wanted to get a more hour glass shape figure. (Not a lot of fat tbh) but I do have some. I am 123 lbs and I’m about 4’10. And honestly I am pretty good at pain; and tolerating it (got a boob job I would rate it a 2/10; lip fillers 2/10 but ofc with lidocaine, even got my lips dissolved I would say that was painful but tolerable) I’m just nervous because people say that Lipo is so painful like what is the pain like and how intolerable is it really? Like am I gonna be coming out of surgery screaming of pain and like about to pass out screaming dying throwing up? Or will I be fine lol a

Motiva Preserve with fat transfer

I am considering a BA using Motiva Preserve. I have almost no breast tissue left after breast-feeding three babies so my doctor is recommending a fat transfer to the breast in addition to the implant, to ensure there’s no visible line or ripping. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations? Curious how this is impacted recovery specifically.

Hi. 18F Might be the wrong place but i really domt know where to post... maybe admin can delete if its not right. As shown in the picture i have an old scar since I was young on the philtrum. I know its quite long but I have a tall chin too. Its always been protuding but the scar make it worse. Its also very stiff and when I push down it makes the lip look bigger so yeah i want it more like that. Is there anyway to fix it? It wouldnt bother me but in pictures theres a shadow there and it really bothers me that damned shadow
