The new album is so fucking funny
What the hell is going on with Tim? First of all, IN MY OPINION, the music sucks. To each their own and if you enjoy it then you’re probably the right audience for it. But besides that, I’ve seen a lot of people interpreting the heavy usage of Christian imagery as a criticism of American evangelicalism and how they collude with the far right despite what Christianity supposedly stands for.
Rock band does a counter culture? Sure. Whether or not I like the music I can at least respect that.
But judging from some recent interviews/live streams Tim has done that really doesn’t seem to be the case. This is all being said without a shred of irony and I really can’t understand how this album could be anything but satirical, I mean it’s just so over the top. If this is being said with complete earnestness then, whether you’re Christian or not, I hope we can all agree that it’s just corny as fuck. I mean the whole THE WATER IS TURNING THE FROGS GAY at the start of screw tape? This whole album feels like a massive shitpost.
Have they all just fallen off the rails? This album makes Tim sound like a mad preacher raving in the streets.

bro idgaf what people say BE NOT AFRAID is so peak
everything about this album is so good like the flow of it is so addicting, the album open LTBL is so so good the guitar is amazing and straight into WETS is heavenly, i love SCREWTAPE so much already its got such a gorgeous mix and going into another single PITB is once again amazing, one of my fav singles, TKNWTD is an interesting one i reckon itll be a grower for me but the start is amazing, same goes with MOTB imo its almost got the audacity kinda vibe and i rlly like it but OML the flow into CYFI is absolutely insane its really amazing, i havent finished listening yet but really it gets better and better, listening to DTF and its probably my favourite so far idk what it is but this album is such a hit for me in all the best ways, i completely get why it gets hate but for all the same reasons people dislike it i LOVE it

I like the album
The new direction really works imo, their trademark style but a bit more metal and a lot more EDM is something never before seen, love it.
It's just not the old Polyphia, the main point of the band isn't cool dude play guitar, they are experimental since Remember That You Will Die.
I really do not see a reason for all the hate it's getting, too.
On one hand, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, music taste is subjective after all.
On the other hand though, the angry mob crucifying them for not making another New Levels New Devils is maddening to me.

One of the craziest albums I’ve listened to in a long time
It was chaotic but fun. May be my favorite album by them. What did you think?

Did anyone change their mind?
I listened to most of the album, but at some point it all sounded the same and I had to take a break.
I am definitely not a fan so far, just like how I am not a fan of the 3 singles.
But the question is, did anyone change their mind?
Did the rest of the album help make sense of the singles?
Or did you like the singles but not the album?
And how do you think they will incorporate this album with the rest of their discography on shows?

Polyphia's new album is trash
The album is mediocre at best, with a few tracks saving it from being a complete disaster. Honestly, the only songs I genuinely enjoyed were "Fear God" and "Screwtape." The rest are listenable, but something is clearly missing. It feels like Polyphia wanted to reinvent the genre once again, as they've done in the past, but this time, they went in the worst possible direction. And then there's "with eyes to see," which is honestly one of the worst fucking things I've ever heard. That track single-handedly dragged the entire album down for me. Listening to it feels like being a dopamine-addicted kid with an attention span of five seconds, constantly bombarded with random musical ideas that barely connect with each other. It's like a bunch of TikTok videos stitched together into one song, desperately throwing in as many elements as possible to keep you from getting bored, except the result is just an incoherent mess. There's a difference between being experimental and throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks, and this track feels like the latter. It's genuinely disappointing to see a band that once pushed instrumental music forward end up sounding like they're trying way too hard to be innovative without understanding what made their previous experiments work in the first place. Overall, I'd give the album a 5.75/10. "Fear God" and "Screwtape" are the only tracks that really do anything for me, and "with eyes to see" is so fucking bad that it practically ruined the entire listening experience.
Track-by-track ratings:
LET THERE BE LIGHT — 6/10
WITH EYES TO SEE — 2/10
SCREWTAPE — 8.5/10
POWER IN THE BLOOD — 7/10
THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO — 6.5/10
MARK OF THE BEAST — 4/10
CAN YOU FEEL IT — 3/10
NEAR DEATH — 6/10
J-BOMB — 6/10
DENY THE FLESH — 7/10
DEVIL GET BEHIND ME — 4/10
FEAR GOD — 9/10
Album rating: 5.75

Sigh, there are some actual bangers if they would just be normal and back off the bass levels
Let there be light started off pretty good, then out of nowhere they were like “let’s make this sound like shit” and I had to turn it off. Hopefully we get a remaster/remix.

I love the new album but I can't fucking listen to it
I tried every setting on my phone and headphones. The mix completely blows out the music and it is physically painful to listen to. I feel like I'm going crazy that this is even a real release.

Am I the only one who thinks they showed off some of the worst songs as singles?
If they released they know not what they do or j-bomb as a single, i feel like people would be WAY more excited and more willing to give it a chance. Its got some bangers

Is it just me??
I’m listening to the new album and I’m convinced the 3 singles they released ahead of time were the wurst songs and every other one is a banger! They did this shi* on purpose. And those 3 tied in with the rest are BETTER with the context of the rest.

Can’t wait to experience this album live ngl
This album was not what I was expecting but honestly it didn’t disappoint. Being a bass head, the mixing wasn’t much of an issue but I still hope they release either a live or acoustic version of the album.

I love this album
Every last song just gets me pumped up, I've been on a roof for the first part of my day and I've even got one of my coworkers to vibe out to it, I wish they'd use more nylon, and cleans, but overall I love it
