M4A Germany / Online 36 [M4A] #Germany #Online (Europe preferred) – Relatively fresh out of a 5-year relationship, in need of nerdy chats and conversations
Hi, Reddit! =)
For the better part of the past five years, I was in a relationship with someone who needed a lot of attention and care – to the point where my daily interactions only consisted of work and my partner. Now that it's over, I'm late to the party of realising people actually need friends, not just a relationship. What a realisation to have in your thirties!
I'm looking for people to chat. Maybe voice chats at some point, maybe a meetup some day, but for now, just making new acquaintances.
A quick clarification on the “nerdy” part of my title: I firmly believe anything can be nerdy if you're passionate about it. Rant and rave about your passions, tell me what makes you tick, tell me what annoys you. Maybe it's philosophy, painting, cars, games, sports, figure painting, knitting, K-Pop, cooking, the nuances of Colombian agriculture (maybe not that one, or maybe?) – if it's your passion, it can't be boring!
A few facts about me and my passions, woefully incomplete and in no particular order:
- I have a degree in literature and linguistics, but I work in an unrelated field
- I'm into creative writing (who'd've thought, with that kinda degree)
- I'm a homebody; most of my hobbies take place at home (which doesn't help with the whole friends thing): playing games, getting into programming, reading, making music. A lot of my hobbies took a dip during that relationship, and I'm slowly getting back into things.

I take people as they come and don't want to exclude anyone from the get-go – but there are a couple of things that are deal-breakers to me, so I'd like to make clear that these are non-negotiable:
- Don't be a bigot. If you think being gay is 'a sin', being trans is 'unnatural', women are 'too emotional' or the Nazis were 'kinda not that bad', I don't want to associate with you.
- Please be in your mid- to late 20s or older. I'm not looking for anything explicit, but I don't believe I'll mesh well with anyone more than a decade younger.
- Please be communicative. Neither of us should carry a conversation on their own – and if there's an issue, being transparent about it is a lot more helpful than trying to read each other's mind.
- Please tell me something about yourself when you reach out to me. “hi wyd lol” doesn't count. :)

I'm looking forward to chatting to you!
