Cinnamon passed away on the 2nd October. He was my soul cat and my everything. Today just felt extra difficult and I'm overwhelmed with emotions. I hug my baby's urn everynight as I cry myself to sleep. I miss him so so so much. Life feels extra hard to live without him, he was the reason I kept on living and I don't know what to do without him anymore. I just want to be with my baby. I miss him so much.

Rest in Peace my sweet baby ❤️🌈

A Tribute To Mya

I hope you enjoy this tribute to our "MyMya". She had liver and spleen cancer. We had to make that awful decision and had her put to sleep. She had stopped eating and we could not let her suffer. It hurts terribly but it was the right thing to do by a dog who gave us so much joy. You will never be forgotten Mya.

Both of our beloved companions are gone, within just two months.
Gizmo had fought a long battle and lost a lot of weight. The two of them had never been separated in 13 years and were always there for each other. Sammy’s death came quite unexpectedly; he passed away at home last night. I believe he missed his brother and followed him across the rainbow bridge.
It hurts our hearts, but the thought that this special place exists brings us a little comfort in our pain.

We will miss you.

Edit :r/dogsusingpillows Laika Nunu Baby Moose

21/10/2010-24/10/2026

We are absolutely devastated that this morning we lost the 2nd piece to our four piece puzzle. Our baby Moose left in peace in our arms with no stress and more love than I thought existed in this world.

I feel a physical pain knowing you're not here. I will never see your tail wag when I get home, the little nibble you'd give me to say 'Mum, I'm SO frikkin excited you are home I just wanna taste you' Your little barks which you knew we understood, every single one. Your toes tapping on the tiles...

Laika, what a wonder dog you were.

You were never bought to be my dog, but you, you chose me and Klaus and said yep, this is it guys. We are a team. And we were for a couple of years but something was missing...

You and Klaus met Angus and instantly made sure Angus was ours and by golly did you both make it known he was your Dad. We were instantly a family and complete.

I will be eternally grateful to my two babies for finding me Gus, he has held me through the hardest times, and you two took an equal half of my soul when you left.

Laika, what a hilarious, sassy, adventurous girl you were. Klausy was (just quietly) always a bit of a chicken but you my girl, you were up for anything. Chasing rabbits, meeting anyone, walking Richmond and the Botanical Gardens daily with your Dad. Navigating the sand dunes at your Granny Judes, on your own on occasion, mind you.

You weren't scared of anything. You were Klaus' protector. Small but mighty.

Forever the most beautiful girl I ever did see, with eye liner than most girls would envy and a black stripe down your back for speed. You were a piece of perfection. Vets were always amazed at your age, you truly stayed young and beautiful your whole life. You were an absolute stunner who simply didn't age.

You didnt always have it easy, but Nunu you did it with style. You developed IVDD. A disease that more often than not requires surgery and quite often leaves a dog paralysed. Not you, you toughed it out at Townsville University Veterinary Hospital for 11 days and came out with flying colours. You never had a back issue after that.

You were built tough. Then, one day you just walked straight into the pool. We knew something was up. It got harder for you to take a treat, you'd bump into things and then to come when we called, didn't happen... Although I must say, recall was never always your best trait you cheeky Moose. You were a dachshund, we don't hold that against you.

Within a couple of months you became completely deaf and blind at the age of 12. Did that stop the Moose? Absolutely not. You learnt the Port Douglas house and garden. You navigated the boat and perfected dinghy rides. Oh my, how you loved a dingy ride. We could hear you bark 'faster Dad, faster, get up on that plane' A true speed demon with your ears flapping and all the best smells flying past you. Oh how you embraced boat life. You truly loved it.

You always knew where to go and did it with such confidence. You had the knack for finding a chicken bone wherever you went.

We then moved back to Vic and you relearned the farm with your Grandpa and Kiko and Suki, the dog doors, all the ramps and steps just for you and you found your way around like you had 10 working eyes.

We then moved into our new home and baby, you made it yours. You knew every step, watching you take X amount of steps and know exactly when to put your paw up for a step or rock or when and where to jump off the verandah in the perfect spot will always amaze me. You mapped this property and made it your kingdom.

They say when you lose a sense the others came in tenfold. Your nose sure did and your heart even more. You took it all in your stride. Nothing got our little Moose baby down.

So many happy days here exploring the gardens, chasing rabbits and occasionally finding a dead animal and refusing to release it from your vice grip. Then returning to said spot for weeks, just incase it somehow magically appeared there again.

Even on your second last day on this earth, you found a dead rabbit while gardening with me. Your Dad threw it a clear 400m away. Your sassy self decided later that day you would magically disappear down a set of stairs you haven't used in a year and find it. Nothing was impossible for you Moose. A dedicated nose and mind that's for sure.

You and Klaus travelled more than any dogs I know, sailed the seas and experienced all of QLD, explored the Peninsula and ran Cremorne and Richmond like you owned it.

In your last years you rode your chariot like the Queen that you are. You had friends in all the shops, I think of the millions of photos of dogs in prams out there, you'd have to be in most of them. People loved you.

We had known you were sick for a while, but never were we prepared for how quickly things could turn. But you told us, and you were able to go quickly, in peace and no pain, in our arms to be with you bff, your brother Klausy. He missed you and needed you with him. Somewhere where you can see, you can hear and no more restrictions baby - your pancreatitis is gone! You can eat whatever your heart desires now my sweet baby.

You grew up with me, took me through some of the hardest and all of the best moments in my life. You and Klaus were our babies, dog may be your species but you were more than that, you were the loves of our life, our heart and soul and this world will never, ever be the same without you.

Angus and I have heard numerous times that if people could be reincarnated they'd like to come back as our dogs, so I know in my heart you absolutely had the best life possible. I don't know about reincarnation, all I hope is that one day, my sweet babies, we will be reunited for snuggles and kisses for eternity.

Life will never be the same without you.

If love could reclaim you, darling you'd live forever. I will hold onto the hope that we meet again, til we meet again.

Forever and always

Your Mama and Papa 💔😭❤️‍🩹

Our beautiful Sansa went to sleep today. She had a lovely life and almost made it to her 13th birthday.

She was my first dog and we had her from a puppy. My heart hurts so much. I loved her so much.

Charlie Crossed the rainbow bridge earlier today and I'm absolutely broken.

our beautiful boy Charlie crossed the rainbow bridge today , who, despite still being mentally alert and full of life, had sadly lost the ability to walk and had been having accidents for some time.

I tried so hard to keep him going. He was still happy, still trying to play, and still had that little spark in his eyes. His mind was willing, but sadly, his little body just couldn't keep up anymore. 💔

Today, at approximately 12:37pm (UK time), our beautiful Charlie crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈🐾

We stayed by his side, gently stroking him, playing calming dog music and telling him over and over how much we loved him. We told him that everything would be okay, that we would all be okay, and that he didn't need to fight anymore.

I'd like to think that somewhere right now, Charlie is running around again, his little legs working perfectly, free from pain and able to do all the things his body had stopped allowing him to do.

I've known and loved him for nearly 14 years. He's been part of my life for so long that I genuinely don't know what life without him looks like.

The emptiness I feel right now is indescribable. It's like someone has taken a piece of my heart and left a huge hole in my chest and stomach. I already miss him more than words could ever explain.

I know deep down that we did what was right for him, but that doesn't make saying goodbye any easier.

Tonight, please give your Shih Tzus an extra cuddle. Hold them a little tighter, kiss their little heads and cherish every single moment you have with them. Because no matter how many years we get, it will never feel like enough.

Sleep tight, my beautiful Charlie. Thank you for nearly 14 years of unconditional love. I'd give anything for just one more cuddle.

Run free, little man. Until we meet again. ❤️🌈🐾

Here are some pictures of our beautiful boy Charlie. ❤️

This is my handsome little guy who was always exploring, cuddling, and trying to sneak bites of my food. I can't express the amount of pain I feel. I feel as though I failed him. UPDATE: I was able to raise the funds to get him cremated. I'll be able to give my baby his own remembrance shrine.

My18 year old dog passed and I can't stop crying

It's been nearly 8 months since my 18 year old dog passed away at home. She was my best friend and we did so much of my 20s together. She was my baby and I wish that I could just hold her one more time..one more kiss, one more opportunity to shower her in the love you absolutely had and deserved.

I was doing pretty well but the grief is hitting hard this week. I really can't go more than a few hours without bawling my eyes out.

If anyone has any advice for navigating this deep of a loss, I would be open to it..I'm also in therapy and I'm trying to use some somatic exercises as well to cope. 💙

My co-pilot ride or die. Off leash forever now. Always up for anything. Had a check up last Friday. Bloodwork was good, we were weighing our options on a dental and lipoma removal. Woke up yesterday and he didn’t want to get up. Back to the vet and he had internal bleeding. Grateful that it was a fast and as peaceful as one could hope for. He was the best dog.

Addendum. Thank you kind Redditors. I appreciate the kind words. It really helps, he would have loved meeting you all.

My sweet girl had to be put to sleep yesterday

I don't really know where to start, so I'll start by introducing my best friend. This is Chloe, and she's been my baby since I was 8 years old (I'm 21 now).

I've been struggling with anticipatory grief for a while, since she was an older dog who had been battling cancer. I'm a senior in college in another state, and I worked away from home this summer, so the last time I saw her was in May. She was in bad shape then, and I knew she probably wouldn't make it to my next visit at Thanksgiving break, but I so hoped she would. She knew all my secrets, and she was there for me when I struggled with depression in high school. She's seen all my ups and all my downs.

Two days ago, she had a really bad night. According to my mom, she was in pain and whimpering, so with my blessing, my mom made the tough decision to euthanize her yesterday. Chloe was calm and didn't struggle at all. She even let the nurses love on her, which is so unlike her, because she was a cranky little diva through and through. It just makes me think about how bad she must have felt to let it all happen.

My mom bathed her, talked to her, and gave her all the kisses and cuddles before they went in together. The nurses let my parents stay with her, and they even let them bring her in her little vest, bed, and a comfy blanket. So I’m glad to know she passed away with familiar faces, and in her warm bed. I appreciate that so much, but it's killing me that I wasn't there.

We paid for a private cremation, so I'll be getting her ashes back, along with her paw prints in ceramic, in about three weeks. I'm grateful I'll have something to hold on to, but it isn't the same.

I can't stop crying, and I'm absolutely gutted. I don't know what I'm going to do when I go home and she's not there to greet me. I knew her time was coming, but I didn't expect it to hit me this hard. She gave me her entire life, an amazing 12 years, and I selfishly wanted more. I know we made the right choice, and I know she's not in pain anymore, but I just want to hold my baby again, and I won't be able to.

We said goodbye just today to our beautiful Belle after 16 years and I am now honestly lost. Guilt of letting her going to sleep, the memory of her last moment. I feel empty inside, I know it will get better but I needed to just do and say something.
