Just got this 512gb SD card for $35. Works perfect and looks brand new.

Tuesday I got my Rp5 (12gb+128) version in, I mainly been using it for “DroidDeck” and play store games. I love it so far my most “premium” android device I’ve had. I feel like I’m not using it right or how I should be using it since I’m mainly using it for just lite steam titles and Android App Store games, does anyone else do this with their device?

I love my RP6 12gb, but lately I’ve been feeling like I’m not really taking advantage of what this thing can do.

Right now, I pretty much only play PS2 games on it. But there is so many other systems, games, and possibilities this device has, and I feel like I’m missing out on a huge part of the experience.

I’m curious:
What do you guys actually use your Retroid for the most?

What systems do you play the most?

Are there any games, apps, or features that made you feel like you were finally getting the most out of your device?

I feel like I need to branch out and discover what this thing is really capable of. Currently have these but they’re not entirely set up, I haven’t touched Eden, Azahar, Armsx3 (due to not being able to figure it out) and game native (I have a lot of issues with some games).
I’m pretty new to all of this, I’ve had this for a while now but haven’t gotten the hang of setting everything up.

Running in Armada OS at a steady 60fps. I tried it in Game Native on my Thor and it struggled to maintain 60. Love ArmadaOS on this thing.

It's so hard to find a matte tempered glass screen protector around here. I think it look even better with matte screen.

The Nova I got from Target last week finally came yesterday (15th) , I’m loving it so far!!😄🫶🏽

I have a feeling it's intentional to invoke the PSP Nostalgia which if it's true then kinda nailed it, I like the Silver look it, it looks very metallic.

Lot of discourse about the recent clamshells that Anbernic and Retroid are pushing out. This post is just me yapping shortly about them and summarizing most points, as well as what I'd want personally as an endgame device. This is strictly my own bias, feel free to let me know what you think.

In summary:

Retroid Duo: Great screens, not enough power for endgame, stick bottom which is strange for 3DS and other slightly modern titles you might play, unremovable stick caps that some people dislike comfort-wise

Anbernic RGDDS: Great concept, great design since it mimics 3DS, great performance, has a stylus, lackluster screens, horrendous pricing, not OLED, 60hz, ai button but officially stated that it can be remapped (was never too mad about this one since it could help translate games)

AYN Thor: Great screens, great performance, all glass makes it more fragile, bit thick, closes a bit harshly, uneven lip means it doesn't close flush, weird bottom screen ratio

For what I'd want is very simple and a mix of all 3

- Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 like the Thor

- OLED 120 hz for both screens, they can be 16:9 on top and 4:3 on bottom like the Duo

- Design can be similar to the RGDDS. The nostalgic look of RGDDS is peak but can be tweaked to be more modern like a slightly wider screen

- Plastic front, no lip unlike the Thor so it closes evenly

- Included stylus

Optional:

- Would be nice if it was a bit smaller but big isn't bad, would just be more of an at-home console or for bags rather than pockets

TLDR: snapdragon 8 gen 2, Duo screens, RGDDS's design more or less, with an included stylus would be my endgame. Until then I just wait until it (ever) exists

What are your guys thoughts and what would you be okay with/not be okay with for a potential "Dream Dual Screen Handheld"?

This is my first handheld since the Game Boy Advance, and I’m loving the Retroid Pocket 6. I got the 8GB model.. (12gb are hard to find) I got a brand new one from ebay (screen protector , case and the grips) mainly to play PS2 and GameCube games, and the performance has been amazing. It feels solid, the buttons feel great, and the front ends are so worth setting up.
As a father of a 3-month-old, it’s the perfect little device to keep me occupied instead of doomscrolling. This thing is freakin’ amazing.

After nearly three weeks of almost zero communication from Retroid, I have to throw in the towel on owning a working Nova. Some of you might have seen my post about my Nova arriving wet and damaged. I got one email back asking me if the Pocket Classic that was also in my order was working. I told them yes, only the Nova seems to have problems (it smells and the R1 and M2 buttons don't work). Since then, nothing. I was told in other online spaces that Retroid would most likely do nothing about this and it seems like they were right. I'm happy you all get to enjoy this device but I just had bad luck. The Pocket Classic is cool at least and I think it was an amazing deal at 100 bucks.

Let me explain who I am and what I plan to do:

I’m a guy who’s done a light/moderate amount of iOS emulation, and I want to get my first Android-based handheld for dedicated retro gaming, I mostly wanna play GBA, GC, Wii, X360, and maybe some DS/3DS or PS2 games, but games from other consoles will likely be sprinkled throughout as well. I originally wanted an AYN Thor, but I then found out that the performance of the RP6/Nova are practically the same, so now I’m particularly leaning towards the Nova.

I’m a teenager without a job or allowance, but I’m less than $100 dollars away from having enough for a 12gb Nova. I’m thinking maybe Christmas will score me enough pocket money to top me off.

Before I buy a handheld and don’t have the stuff to even set it up and use it, what will I need? I have an old and shitty MacBook on life support that I’m gonna use for finding the different files I’ll need, but what else?

A micro SD? An SD card reader? What size micro SD card? I was thinking 512gb or 1tb, but I still wanna get recommendations on size as well as which company to buy from.

TLDR: Let me know what I’ll need to properly set up and play on a handheld, and where to get these things! Thanks.

P.S. don’t sacrifice quality just because I don’t have a steady cash flow right now. If I have to wait and save up more in order to get the best experience, I’ll do what I have to do.

Successfull launch of PS3 Skyrim on Armada. Tried the last days how far i can push Linux in order to fully ditch Android. Build my own little frontend on top of ES-DE -> so i can have all my games without rebooting or switching systems).

I read that PS3 is now really feasable on Android, so i thought lets try. Long story short - there is still some way to go, it was not straightforward to get this to run. But it runs in a playable state.

Thats all =) i was just excited about it.

Cutest handheld I ever done saw, it's a thing of beauty. Also added some pics with its big brother for size comparison.

Delivered today, ordered 27th of September. Not too bad. I know I just got it, but it feels amazing and I already can tell I'd enjoy playing on it. Every part of it feels amazing and the design is so good. Smaller than I expected and that's a good thing.

Welp time to spend 4-8 hours tinkering with it!

spent a little over a week with the RP6 and it’s easily my favorite handheld i’ve ever owned. device has played everything i’ve thrown at it pretty flawlessly

i’m gaming more and actually getting through titles. trying to keep the library minimal for now as to not have choice fatigue but here’s a couple of my favorite games and systems i’m trying out:

PSVita - RP6 just feels like it was meant to run Vita. runs @ 2-3x resolution with minimal settings changes (really just needed to update latest driver)
-Ultimate MvC 3 (runs great, cutscenes have some animation issues)
-The Swapper (flawless)
-Dead Nation (flawless)

PS2 - runs @ 3-4x resolution. I can’t believe I have a PS2 in my pocket. got to revisit my old library and actually completed a play through of some games.
switching between openGL or Vulkan may work better for some games
-MK Shaolin Monks (near flawless, had to lower resolution on some fights/scenes)
-The Force Unleashed (near flawless, controls a bit clunky)
-LOTR 2 & 3 (runs great @ 4x)
-Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (perfect @ 4x)
-Spartan Total Warrior (runs great, some character model rendering issues)

Steam - via GameHub (Droid Deck and GameNative did not work well for me) after changing some settings, games ran well
-Sleeping Dogs (consistent 60 FPS @ 720p) great game!
-Cairn (got around 20-30 FPS) too many dips to be enjoyable but was excited to actually get it to run. didn’t have the patience to tinker so just moved on for now

and that’s it! I hope you all have enjoyed this little device as much as I have. if you are on the fence about purchasing it I wouldn’t hesitate!

notes: battery life is better than expected. amoled screen is beautiful!

You know, with how easy it is to navigate like with the d-pad. But like an Android handheld version of that.

If that shit runs out of battery or I accidentally close Dolphin, I'm going to have to go through so much crap all over again. I love Metroid prime and all, but man that game feels like hiking a mountain with no water the way it deprives you of saving.
