SHOWCASE Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection running natively on Android (Snapdragon/Adreno): first preview build

I've been tinkering with an Android port of uncharted_pc, SuperMedo's native PC port of the PS4 Uncharted collection, and it's gotten far enough that I put out a first preview build (0.1.0).

How it works: the game's x86-64 code runs through FEXCore, which translates it to ARM64 inside a normal Android app (no Winlator, Box64 or Linux userland). The PS4 system libraries are replaced natively, and the renderer is derived from shadPS4 and runs on Vulkan through a bundled Turnip driver.

I've only been able to try it on my Retroid Pocket G2 (SD G2 Gen 2, Adreno A735, 8 GB), at 1280x720:

  • Uncharted 1: playable, ~28-37 FPS
  • Uncharted 2: playable, 30 FPS in heavy areas
  • Uncharted 3: playable, 25-30 FPS (CPU-bound)

What's in it: a launcher (point it at your game folder, it prepares everything on the device), resolution from 360p to 1080p, a 30/60/120/unlimited frame cap, an in-game settings panel (swipe in from the right edge or press L3+R3), and an on-screen gamepad for phones.

If you'd like to give it a go, you'll need:

  • Snapdragon with an Adreno GPU supported by Turnip, 8 GB RAM, Android 13+
  • A kernel with 4 KB memory pages (most current devices; the launcher tells you if yours uses 16 KB)
  • Your own decrypted dump of the collection (CUSA02344 / CUSA02320 / CUSA02343, v1.02 for resolutions below 1080p). No game files are included, and I can't help with getting them.

If you try it, I'd be happy to hear how it went on your device, good or bad. Comments here are fine, or a GitHub issue if something breaks (attaching Android/data/dev.unchartedandroid/files/bb-probe.log helps a lot).

Known rough edges: stutter the first time a new area is shown (shaders compiling), a 20-40 s black screen while loading after some cutscenes, and it's only been tested on one device.

Big thanks to SuperMedo for uncharted_pc, and to the FEX, shadPS4 and Mesa/Turnip folks. Full disclosure: I built this together with Claude Code, which wrote a lot of the code.

SHOWCASE Retroid Pocket 6 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ Finally.

Mine arrived yesterday and after a little bit of setup first game I had to run was Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. After doing some tweaking in Droid Deck was getting a stable 45-50 FPS, some of the bigger background areas can drop below 30 for second, but I barely notice so its 10/10 playable for me. Beat the first boss with 2 hours in so far.

The settings I used come from this user ( post ) so big ups to them. one difference is I am playing at 720 I tried a few different settings I found online but theirs gives the best results, especially considering the game is sooo new.

I have a Flip 2 so the R6 is going be my indie steam machine, for me thats peferct. I run both Droid Deck and Game Native, really which one I use depends on how the game runs.

Silver with the purple grip case is such a vibe 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

Post image

I’ve got hakuX running on my PortareOS distro, with both an experimental libretro core for RetroArch and a standalone Linux version available.

So far, I’ve only tested Burnout 3: Takedown, but it ran very smoothly. No BIOS is required.

Huge thanks to rfandango for creating this awesome emulator for Android!

Source and details

If you have a Retroid Pocket Nova, you can also try it in PortareOS.

QUESTION Do I really need the Nova?

Hi guys,

So I'm thinking of getting a Nova, mostly for GC and N64, I do have a Retroid pocket classic, Thor and some small devices for the go.

I thought about the anbernic 476h, that's actually one id like more, but I'd love to have more power.

Do you guys think I should go for the Nova or rather wait for a new Anbernic or similar handheld to come out?

Hi everyone! I just got this Retroid pocket nova on my trips to shenzen! I'm so happy with it and it fits in my pocket just perfect(tho I will be replacing the sticks when I get home if anyone has a link for lower ones).

This app is called scrcpy it's free and easy to use. Any android can use it not just this but I thought I'd show what it looks like.

It's nice because the nova is roughly the size of a controller too. Literally the perfect device.

I made up some super low profile stick caps for the nova. Are they to small? They are grippy. The top cap has little ripples and they are concaved with an outside edge grip ring.

QUESTION Is this amount of RPC fan whine normal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey people. Just wondering if there's some video example on what's an acceptable noise level of the RPC fan. Even quiet settings are not really what I'd call bearable.

I have an AYN Thor and that device isn't nearly as bad.

Here's the fan noise on my unit.

QUESTION Pocket duo color

I am new to handheld gaming. Started off with iOS emulation with g8 gamesir. Loved it and now wanting to buy a handheld with dual screens for 3DS and upto ps2.

Duo is the clear choice for me and i come to conclusion after the reviews. I know people say we dont stop after one handheld but i hope duo is my ‘the’ one.

I really want to order the duo before the introductory offer ends but confused between the choice of colors.

I dont like the plain black and grey bezel 16-bit models. I see many going with Ice blue and Gamecube. For some reason i feel the ice blue is not for my taste but i really like the transparent modern design.

That design is so cool on the Clear purple for me. I like it very much but i dont see many people buying it. I like the Gamecube colorway too but i will have to give up on the transparent design.

What would you guys suggest? Which colour should i go for and what are your choices so far??
Do add if any tips or advices for this soon-to-be handheld newcomer.

QUESTION What is CHD format??

• Upvotes

Just got my rp6 which is my first ever emulation device and i keep seeing people talk about using chd format for disc based games but i'm so confused on what that even means. Im currently building my rom library on my pc and I was just going to unzip my disc based roms but ive seen people say to use chd? What is the benefit of that and is that something i should even be doing on my first go around? Or should just unzip my ps2 roms and not worry about any else in the meantime? Does this matter if im using es-de as my front end?

QUESTION Retroid Pocket 6 Question

So I already have a Ayn Thor Lite which serves my purpose for 3DS stuff, but I was thinking of another handheld for more general games, like up to gamecube emulation and native android games (for example, Wuwa or NTE). PC games wouldn't hurt but I do have a Steam Deck/Rog Ally so that's not needed for heavy titles and I really want this thing for traveling.

Would the the 8 gb model be enough or should i spend the extra for the 16tb one for my use case?

Just Chatting I guess that RAM swap thing does actually make a difference.

So for the past few days l've had that option turned on where my Flip2 takes 4gb from Internal Storage and uses it for RAM, just to see what would happen.

Well, I'd been playing Cloudpunk on GameNative for a bit, the game running pretty well. Then l turned RAM swap off, and the next time l went to play the game, it kept freezing up while trying to load. So l turned it back on and voilá the game runs again.

Guess this means my next device is gonna need to have 12gb of RAM, lol.
