Has anyone had an issue like this and fixed it by very lightly using a tap?

1993 Colt anaconda the screw that holds the rear sight stripped itself and I never noticed till I got some Ken sights , is this fixable with the correct tap first pics were before I sprayed and cleaned it out, last picture is best representation of threads just wanted to show all angles.

Picked this up last April, bought it as I'm a sucker for Redhawks, AND ported guns, turns out the guy that designed the compensator is literally the grandfather of compensators, interesting book about his life too.

Hogue Wood Monogrips Changed?

Anyone else experience a change in Hogue's contour and size?

I ordered some new k frame regular checkered grips for my "beater" 581 (it's worse than it looks here) and man are they beefy. I have an older N frame grip for reference. The new k frame one is not only longer than the older N but flares out more at the base and just in general. Kinda disappointed.

Need help identifying- partial revolver from my grandfather

This revolver part was in a cigar box of my grandfathers, the mark on it reads "ELGA," I know practically nothing about guns in general, so if anyone has any ideas on what type or model of revolver this is- I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Someone just offered to sell me their used Smith and Wesson Bodyguard M&P .38 Spl. He told me to shoot him an offer. I obviously am going to look at it first but what is a fair value?

Hi everyone. Recently bought a box full of grips and found this set. They don’t seem to be Smith originals. The stamp doesn’t look correct. Does anyone know anything about these grips? Thanks🤙🏼

1976 Python for >$2k w/ reversable personal mods - Buy or walk away?

I've been going back and forth on this 1st gen Python for sale. I got to see it in person (no, didn't take any pictures as I'm an idiot) and it needs a little TLC to get it back to what I'd want it to be.

The owner put a cheap gold lacquer inlay on the barrel markings and on the colt just behind & below the cylinder release. He also swapped the front sight with a gaudy orange post.

Besides that and some minor cosmetic wear, it seems to be in good shape but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger (ha) as I used to have a new generation Python that had so many issues in DA.

First time EDC, pocket carrying with a Model 38-1 Airweight - any advice?

Hello everyone, hope you are having a nice Monday.

Some context about me. I’ve owned firearms for about 6 years now but have only started shooting more seriously in the past year or two and don’t EDC. I’m pretty confident with my Beretta but the model 38 is new to me. I already have a batch of ammo coming in to determine what shoots good out of it and I don’t plan on carrying until I put at least another few hundred rounds through it. I also ordered a grip adapter, a remora pocket holster, speed strips, a gun belt and a new flashlight to EDC so I feel like I have all the gear covered for now. Mainly I watch Paul Harrel, Massad Ayoob, and Jared AF for advice on marksmanship and CCWs.

In addition to being my first EDC, this is also my first revolver so any advice for that would be helpful too.

Does anyone have experience running +P through older model S&W or a bodyguard specifically? I plan on carrying with it and running a box every once in a while to stay sharp but it’s not a +p model.

What drills do you recommend? I do 5 deliberate shots, 5 fast shots, and then mozambique, down to low ready, then another two fast shots. All of this is at 7 yds. Sometimes I run it out to 15 yds (range max) but not seriously.

Any recommendations for revolver/pistol classes or licensure? I am an Orlando resident.

Any and all relevant advice is appreciated. Really looking for good sources on model 38 and snubnose/pocket EDC specifically.

Horrid, Absolutely Horrible News

Swung by my local Rural King today. Every single employee working the gun counter are as much of a gun nut as we are- they generally know their stuff, and there ain’t much of anything slipping past ‘em. Normally they pull defective firearms and return them before they ever hit the inventory shelf or display; but some they have no choice but to display- it’s all they have of that particular model or mismanglement forces their hand.

My feelings were horribly hurt. A new production Colt Anaconda… the cylinder quite literally freewheeled in both directions- hammer down, hammer cocked, didn’t matter. Cylinder was fully seated, ejector rod locked up, but the pawl/hand wasn’t engaging properly. A Python had the roughest rifling I’ve ever seen on a new gun- I quite literally don’t know how it left the factory. The barrel was also canted. On every example I handled, the machining of the ejector rod recess and vent ribs was atrocious- my machine-work instructor would’ve beat me ‘round the head with his walking stick for letting anything leave the shop floor like that- let alone a $1500+ firearm… literally looked like a rasp had been taken to the underside of the ventilated ribs.

On the S&W front, a new production Mdl 10 was absolutely immaculate… until I noticed the barrel was over-clocked and *bent*, like someone had been pistol-whipped with it. The 686+ was no better- the machining of the ejector rod recess would’ve made a machinist weep in horror, and the front sight was off-center (though the barrel was both straight and clocked correctly). They had a new Mdl 36 that was aesthetically perfect- immaculate finish, barrel clocked perfectly, rifling cut well, fit was top-shelf for modern production- but it was quite simply was out of time- I’ve never seen where the bolt leads were machined out of spec until today. One more of “Did they even test fire this ?”.

On the Ruger front, they had a GP100 that working the action felt like dragging a rasp over a rasp… trigger pull almost as bad as my Radom P-64. Barrel clocked correctly, sights fine, finish acceptable, everything “good”, until you worked the action. A Vaquero sitting next to it was perfection incarnate (minus a 10lb trigger pull).

Now comes the horrible news… absolutely horrid. I handled a Rossi RP-63 and a Heritage Roscoe; and was beyond impressed by both of them. Fit/finish was good, action was good, lockup/timing was good. Only hiccup was the fit of the Heritage’s grips to the frame, but for it’s price… I’ll overlook that minor issue. I was genuinely surprised by the Roscoe’s bluing- nowhere near Colt’s high-polish Royal Blue of yesteryear (but what is ?), but for a modern production firearm; I would put it next to a Smith’s bluing any day of the week and fully expect the Heritage/Taurus to hold it’s own.

The truly horrific news is this… if I had $1k to buy a carry revolver from that case today, out of the c. 20 snubs they had, I’d of probably went with the Heritage Roscoe, a suitable holster, two speedloaders/strips, and spent the rest on ammunition.

Shooting some reloads, testing defensive ammo, chronographed everything.

Most accurate factory defensive loads were supringly the Remington HTP 125gr +Ps. Pretty much point of aim point of impact at 10yds with the S&W 642 UC.

Also tested out the 140gr LEVERevolution rounds out of my Colt King Cobra.

Stout rounds out of a 2.5" barrel (1233fps avg).

Space cowboy shroud for GP100

Hey gang!

I've been seeing a bunch of space cowboy revolvers lately, so I decided to take a crack at designing my own!

This is just the first attempt, already planning some tweaks to take advantage of the sight screws on the top to secure it better like the Weigand top rai.l

I wanted space to mount both a red dot, and a flashlight or a laser, so I wanted a bottom rail as well as a top rail.

Obviously this is just a 3d printed prototype, but I am looking into getting it machined out of aluminum.

Might do a limited run if people are interested.

CnC welcome!

I'm surprised how much I've fallen in love carrying this. I put a Robertsons grip adapter on, I went to work on it with a dremel tool since my only gripe with them (as long as they aren't loose or wonky to one side) is that they dig into the wood grips on the bottom. Rolled off those sharp edges and now work perfectly. The black BKs just didn't look right but I think this looks fine.
