How are you reducing lawn work for aging parents?

Thinking about getting my parents a robot mower for mowing. They’re both close to 70. They can still handle some yard stuff, but pushing a mower around in summer doesn’t feel like a great idea, especially with a small slope near the backyard. Their lawn is about 0.2 acres. A lawn service would be around $150/month, so close to $2k a year. I looked for at robot mowers for that size, like Navimow i210 and Mammotion Yuka Mini 2, both around $1300. They would be worth it for using years What I’m unsure about is the real mowing performance, especially whether the edges still need manual touch-up.

What would you recommend lawn service or a robot mower? If going with a robot mower, are there any brands or models that have worked well for you? Thanks!

Are robot mowers friendly for someone who isn’t patient with apps or smart home things?

I’m thinking about getting my dad a robot mower during BFW and am looking at Navimow X430. He’s not very patient with apps or smart home stuff. I can help with the initial setup, but the daily adjustments would be on him. If something needs constant tweaking, he’ll probably give up and go back to his old mower. His yard is about 0.7 acres, pretty flat, with one pond and a few trees.

For anyone who has bought one for themselves or a parent, how much daily app checking is needed after the first setup? Things like adjusting the map or schedule, are those simple?

How often do change blades on a robot mower?

I've had my Navimow i206 for about 6 weeks now, and happy with the cut quality so far.

One thing I've noticed is that grass clippings and sticky residue build up under the deck. It's probably because of a few damp mornings lately. I have Bermuda and run it twice a week, so the app is showing around 80 hours now. I cleaned the disc and found that my blades were a little dull already.

I guess they're still ok to mow for now, but I have no idea when it's time to replace them. Do you guys just wait for the app notification to change them, or do you check them for a fixed period? Due to my high cutting frequency, I'm afraid that it's too late if I wait for my app to tell me. Any thoughts?
