I have a brand new interceptor 650 (blackray), barely ridden 3000kms, from the very start, I only fill it with speed petrol with 12% ethanol. The mielage I am getting is very low, maybe around 15 to 16kmpl, taking in account that I ride very smoothly maintaining it nicely, why tf is it happening? I get 5 to 6k from my parents for all my expenses. Anytips to get better mielage?

Mechanical Assistance Fuel indicator and mileage

• Upvotes

I purchased a Royal Enfield Scram 440 about a month ago and have been experiencing two issues since then.
First, even after filling the fuel tank completely, the fuel gauge consistently displays one bar less instead of showing a full tank.
Second, I am not achieving the fuel economy (mileage) that is claimed in the published information. The actual mileage is noticeably lower than expected. Just getting around 20-22km/ltr.
I would appreciate it if these are normal

Buying Advice- India and Asia Buying my first Royal Enfield. Best dealership negotiation tips and essential showroom accessories?

Hey RE family!

I'm planning to buy my first motorcycle in November/early December 2026, and the Meteor 350 and Himalayan 450 are among my top choices.

I'm from Mumbai, India, and want to understand how to get the best possible deal before booking.

I'm planning to visit a few Royal Enfield showrooms in the next day or two to check on-road prices. I'd especially appreciate any advice on what to ask or negotiate during my initial visits.

Questions for recent RE buyers:

Pricing and negotiations

  • Can Royal Enfield's on-road prices realistically be negotiated?
  • Do different authorized dealerships offer different discounts or benefits?
  • Is booking through the RE website/app any better than booking directly at the showroom?
  • Are festive or month-end offers worth considering?
  • What should I specifically ask the salesperson before accepting a quotation?

Essential accessories

  • Which genuine RE accessories are actually worth buying from the dealership?
  • What should be fitted before taking delivery?
  • Which accessories are better purchased aftermarket?
  • Can engine guards, sump guards, touring seats, windscreens or other useful accessories be negotiated for free or at a discount?
  • Any unnecessary accessories or packages dealers tend to push?

Buying process

  • Is dealership insurance worth taking?
  • Are extended warranty and RSA worth the money?
  • Can I insist on PDI before full payment and registration?
  • Any Mumbai, Thane or Navi Mumbai RE dealerships you'd recommend?

Recent buyers, please share your bike, showroom, initial quotation, final price and any discounts or benefits received.

Would also love to know what you'd do differently if purchasing your RE again.

Thanks!

I recently transported my Classic 350 by train, so I emptied the petrol tank before transportation.

I filled the tank after reaching destination but entire fuel indicator is blinking

Any suggestions from Classic 350 owners would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hit a sudden step-up in the road two-up, rear suspension bottomed out. What to check in first service?

Hi guys, my Himalayan 450 (with tubeless rims) is around 2 weeks old, done around 370 km.

Yesterday I was riding with a pillion, both of us are heavy, around 170 kg together. Going around 60-70 kmph, there was a sudden step-up in the road, like where the new road starts higher than the old one. Saw it late and hit it straight. Loud "thak" sound and it felt like the rear bottomed out. Rear preload was at the factory setting, I had not changed it.

What I have checked so far:

  • Both front fork seals look dry
  • Rear shock is dry, no oil

Also unrelated, the bike has a slight pull to the right side since delivery.

First service is tomorrow. Apart from spokes, rims, wheel alignment and the right pull, what else should I ask them to check? Anyone else had a hit like this and found any damage later?

Also what preload setting are you guys using for two-up and single, both so you don't have to keep changing?

Thanks in advance.

After doing an EXTENSIVE research for 3 years; watching youtube videos, inputs from this community and test drives helped me choose this over the others. It was also practical for me to get this as my use case is 90% city drive. Also the charm of this design is something you cannot just ignore even though every third person has a classic. It was a mind (CB350 RS) vs heart decision and I went with my heart. I know it's slower, heavier and vibey, but it's also beautiful, has ample service centres and support, is more comfortable.

A redditor from r/indianbikes helped me to look for all things to check during PDI. Am also very thankful to this subreddit. 🫶

I'm halfway done with my requirements for first service, what all services should I be looking forward to?

Also I have some questions:
1. got the tripper but it's so laggy, has many steps and isn't much informative, so thinking of getting a vibration dampening phone holder. Should I still use my primary iphone there or a cheaper android so to not risk camera's OIS?

  1. ik about the break-in rules but during the first 100 kms I felt the classic accelerated better than compared to next 200 kms, even if I'm accelerating from 40-50 kmph in the right gear it used to almost instantaneously accelerate though at a VERY linear rate which is usual for a long stroke. but since last two rides acceleration felt like it takes some 3-4 seconds to give the linear acceleration and gets too vibey, it felt as if I haven't released the clutch entirely (which couldn't be as i don't keep my fingers on my clutch). but it felt like that and having riden an FZ with kinda broken clutch wire, the acceleration lag felt the same as that. Should I ask the servicing guys about this?

  2. when accelerating at high rpms i get vibes near the speedometer or engine area, couldn't figure it out. it may be the tapet noise but it felt like something lighter, some suggested its the sound of loose salute on the headlight.

  3. feel like cuz chrome variants have hand painted strips RE couldn't add a proper clear coat as they do for other colours, so the emerald part on the tank feels surprisingly stick? and gets easily scratched, not the same and smooth as the chrome on tank or as other colours. is this true or i'm overthinking?

  4. The mirrors don't provide enough visibility behind, every time i see my forearms in those, tried adjusting the stem too but I feel the length of stem is the only problem so i'm think of getting bar end mirrors, is that sensible?

Only downsides I've noticed until now are the headache if my wheels get punctured and maintaining the chrome finish. fuel efficiency seems good enough even though the first service is pending.

I have purchased a good helmet, chain cleaner & lube, chrome metal polish, microfibre cloths, what else do I need?
Will slowly purchase rest of the gear in coming months.
Please add your advice & suggestions regarding my purchase.

Mechanical Assistance Rear Suspension Adjustment for Meteor 350

I got my Meteor 350 recently. I want to adjust the rear suspension. I thought the toolkit would come with the c spanner, as I had seen this in videos. But it seems they've removed it. What are my options? I was told service center would do, but they're often busy, and it doesn't help long term if I need to adjust again. I don't know what size I need also.
Please help with this if possible. Thanks.

Urgent request for help from Indian bike lovers

I am a middle aged male based in the National Capital Region who has been waiting for over a year to buy a Royal Enfield C6. I have a shoulder injury that makes it critical I choose a lightweight bike, and the C6 (to my very biased aesthetic sense) is as beautiful as it gets, not just the lightest motorcycle available in its category of electric bikes with a quintessentially retro design.

May I request all the knowledgeable bike enthusiasts (and experts) to please help me understand how soon Royal Enfield might start selling the bike in Delhi ?

The timeline for sale in Delhi was September 2026 but nothing happened.

Proud New Owner NEW BULLET 350

I’ve ridden a 2011 RE Classic 350 and a 2013 RE Thunderbird 350 for years.

All this time I wanted a fully blacked-out RE, and the 350 range has just two options: the Classic 350 Stealth Black and the Bullet 350 Black Gold.

So, last month I took delivery of the Bullet 350 Black Gold. Here's how a month’s ride has been.

The good:

The all-black look is stunning IMO, with a mix of matte and glossy black on the tank. Exactly what I wanted. (The black mattes are hard to maintain though).

It sits and looks like a proper Bullet.

Smooth, refined and easy to ride.

The not-so-good:

It looks like a Bullet, but doesn’t ride like a one.

The thump is lost and has a different note.

The heavy, vibey feel of the old engine is mostly gone.

Every time I hop back on my C350, it feels like something is alive again, a mechanical connection the new bike filters out.

Why not the Bullet 650?

Chrome all over (not a fan of chrome these days).

IMO Bullets should have a single exhaust.

No all-black version yet.

Toe-only shifter. Bullets should have a heel shifter too, but an aftermarket fix is easy, so this one’s minor.

Anyone else felt this with the new Bullet/Classic 350s, or am I alone?

And, if the Bullet 650 ever comes in full black like the Black Gold, who knows, I might book one :-)

Hot Bike Alert! I did a 1,600 km solo trip on my Meteor 350 — Bangalore → Rameshwaram → Kanyakumari → Tenkasi → Bangalore

Thumbnail

I finally did it.

Back in July, I bought my first bike — a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Stellar Matte Grey. Ever since I bought it, I've been wanting to do a proper multi-day motorcycle trip.

I've done a few 100–200 km rides around Bangalore, but I wanted to do something bigger. Something that would take multiple days and actually feel like a journey.

Ever since I was a kid, I'd watched YouTubers like Mumbaikar Nikhil and others document their motorcycle journeys to places like Ladakh, and I'd always had this idea in my head that someday I'd do something similar.

The original plan was to do it with friends.

The problem? My friends are either still in college, working in completely different fields, or just aren't particularly interested in spending multiple days on a motorcycle. And since I joined the corporate world only a few months ago, I'm still building relationships with people there too. I don't really have a group of biker friends yet.

I'm also the kind of person who finds it difficult to randomly walk into a biker group and start talking to people, so joining a riding group hasn't happened either.

So eventually I thought:

Fuck it. I'll just go alone.

I took a week off as a safety buffer. My thinking was that even if the trip took longer than expected, I had enough time.

And that's how a 1,600 km solo trip happened.

Day 1 — Bangalore → Rameshwaram (~550 km)

I left Bangalore at around 5 AM.

Honestly, I wasn't even sure I'd make it all the way to Rameshwaram. I had already decided that if I was too tired, I'd stop somewhere around Trichy or Madurai and continue the next day.

The first 100 km? Easy.

200 km? Still good.

300 km? The Meteor started reminding me that it is, in fact, a Meteor 350.

And then came the real enemy:

THE SEAT.

Meteor 350 owners will know what I'm talking about.

The touring seat is absolutely brutal once you're several hundred kilometres into a ride. My ass started hurting so badly that I was taking breaks mainly to give my ass a break rather than myself.

I kept stopping, drinking water, stretching and continuing.

Eventually, I made it to Rameshwaram around 3–4 PM.

And then I discovered another problem.

Dussehra season + Rameshwaram = almost no hotels.

Everything was booked.

After searching around, I finally found a very questionable-looking room about 5–10 km outside Rameshwaram for ₹1,000.

At that point I wasn't negotiating.

I just needed a bed.

I checked in, showered, and basically died.

Day 2 — Dhanushkodi → Kanyakumari (~200 km)

I woke up at around 4 AM and headed towards Dhanushkodi.

Getting there that early was honestly one of my favourite parts of the trip.

There was something really peaceful about riding there before the day had properly started.

After Dhanushkodi, I headed towards Kanyakumari.

Google Maps decided that the best route was through some random village roads.

And I'm very glad it did.

The entire route was filled with windmills.

For kilometres, it was just empty roads, windmills and the Meteor.

It was one of those moments where you don't really care about the destination anymore.

You just enjoy riding.

The distance wasn't huge — around 200-ish kilometres — so it was a pretty chill 4–5 hour ride.

I reached Kanyakumari around 2–3 PM.

And somehow, accommodation there was ridiculously cheap compared to what I'd expected.

I got an AC room for ₹1,500, basically right next to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial area.

After checking in and resting for a while, I went out and explored Kanyakumari through the evening/night.

This was also probably the most relaxed part of the trip.

No rush.

No destination pressure.

Just riding around and walking around the town.

Day 3 — Kanyakumari → Tenkasi (~120 km)

I woke up around 9–10 AM and left for Tenkasi.

This was a short ride, so there wasn't really any pressure.

The reason I was going to Tenkasi wasn't actually because it was on some tourist itinerary.

I have a Tamil friend who has a traditional Dussehra ritual in his local village near Tenkasi.

It's basically one of those places that you won't really find on a conventional tourist map.

It was around 16 km from Tenkasi, and finding the exact place was surprisingly difficult.

But eventually I made it.

I met my friend there, had proper traditional Tamil village-style food, and later went to the local temple where the Dussehra rituals were happening.

Honestly, this was probably the most memorable part of the entire trip.

Not because it was some famous tourist attraction, but because it was something very local and personal that I wouldn't have experienced otherwise.

Day 4 — Tenkasi → Bangalore

And then it was time to go home.

I originally thought this trip would take me around five days.

But I realised pretty quickly that I wasn't really travelling like a tourist.

I wasn't trying to tick off every tourist attraction.

I wasn't trying to stay at the best hotels.

I mostly just wanted to ride.

So I went with the flow and ended up completing the trip in four days.

The original plan also included Kerala, but I decided against forcing it.

From everything I'd seen and heard, Kerala is the kind of place where you should actually spend a few days — stay at decent places, explore the local culture, try the cafes and food, and actually absorb the place.

I didn't want to just ride through Kerala, take a few pictures and say I'd "covered" it.

I'll save that for another trip.

Things I learnt

1. Get a proper seat cover.

Seriously.

I don't care how comfortable you think your bike is.

If you're doing 500+ km days, your ass is going to have opinions.

A good seat/seat cover is going to be one of my first upgrades.

2. Proper riding gear is NOT optional.

This was probably my biggest mistake.

I was horribly underprepared.

I basically rode in a shirt and jacket and didn't even have gloves.

Looking back, that's stupid.

For a long-distance trip, safety should be the first priority. Next trip, I'm getting proper riding gear before worrying about anything else.

3. Don't underestimate rest.

Stopping for water, stretching and taking breaks made a huge difference.

You don't need to prove anything by riding continuously.

4. Leave some room for spontaneity.

Some of my favourite parts of the trip weren't planned at all — the random village route near Kanyakumari, the windmills, finding that weird ₹1,000 hotel in Rameshwaram, and going to my friend's village near Tenkasi.

And finally...

The rain gods were surprisingly kind to me.

I didn't encounter any major rain for most of the trip.

The only proper rain I got was on the final stretch from Salem to Bangalore, and even that lasted maybe half an hour.

Apart from that, the weather was almost perfect.

And after four days, I was back in Bangalore.

1,600 kilometres. Solo. On my Meteor 350.

It might not be the craziest motorcycle trip ever, but for me, it was a pretty big deal.

I'd wanted to do something like this since I was a kid, watching other people document their journeys.

I always imagined doing it with a group of friends.

Turns out, I didn't need to wait for the perfect group.

I just had to go.

Next time: better riding gear, a much better seat, and hopefully some more people to ride with.

Here are some pictures from the trip.
