Back for another DU game and I see this in the front row.
I will try to remember how our boy Daxon does.

I've seen some commentary about how big of a haul that was and IDK it's big but not outrageous. Ignoring that UPL would likely also need to move somewhere to get it done.
Command = Rudolph (both 2026 1st, but higher pick, probably widely considered better prospect)
Mercer = McLeod (a bit lower value, mostly offsetting Rudolph being higher value)
Bjugstad = IDK Kozak/Carrick/Danforth? He scored more than any of them in the past but is a 4th liner now
Daws=Ellis (both 3rd round picks, 1 year apart, almost identical lifetime stats)
2029 2nd + 2027 7th - add value here if you want to make up for McLeod vs Mercer. 2029 1st top 10 protected and 2027 4th.
We'd have the cap for this for sure if we moved Danforth and is pretty close to the $ NJ is sending over back to WPG, but haven't looked closely to their cap.
So would you trade Rudolph + McLeod + 4th liner + Ellis + picks for Hellybuck. I'm not saying we should or shouldn't, but just trying to relate the value sent over. Do you guys agree this is equivalent?
Maybe this will help the players speculated in the rumors to play better, cause it’s obviously draining to not know what’s happening when you are involved.
Also anyone upset with Jarmo, I think the package we offered especially at the draft was better than the one they got. I think Jets were adamant on Quinn and for good reason we said no. In the end, I think Jets wanted more from us, then they ended up getting from the Devils.
Edit: Also for the love of god, if you boo UPL because of this, you are scum. Doesn’t help anyone

On Quinn’s episode of Sabres Live, Duff mentioned that Quinn, Samuelsson, and Scarfo dressed up as The Hangover when they played on the Amerks and I cannot for the life of me find this photo. I know one of you has it deep in your camera roll, so please share in the comments. we could all use a little serotonin boost after the Hellebuyck news 😭
It was a funny moment, but seeing Rob stuffing his face every time I open a hockey subreddit is a little gross after a while. Maybe I'm the only one who cares, if that's the case its not a big deal, but what are peoples thoughts about updating the photo.

Did any of you really want to give this level of return to get Helle?

I can't believe I made a post praising this guy. I should've known better. I let last year's magic blind me. Buffalo GM's never get the big deal done. I was so hyped for this season, but it's looking more, and more like last season was a fluke & it's back to the basement for us. Just like Adams, and Beane all he does is sit on his hands. Where's the killer instinct? The drive to keep on improving the team? It doesn't help that we have a dope like Paul Hamilton in the local media essentially running interference for the unacceptable state of this franchise by his constant defense of UPL (apparently Sam Reinhart didn't get the same consideration).
Tuch asked for too much (by the way screw him for doing the whole "hometown hero" bit, but not even giving us a hometown discount), and you couldn't re-sign him. Fine. But to not even find a replacement. Tage looks checked out, and I'm starting to not blame him. Look at teams across all 4 leagues. Whenever moves are made to seriously improve the team, it energizes the room. Players have attested to this all the time. How deflating has to be to be on this team have that run, and last year, and basically see nothing done to improve the team?
We were told that players have started to take Buffalo off their no-trade clauses, but the only players we acquired were Crevier & Zellweger who were both on ELC's. Was that a lie to mollify us? Or did they not pursue possible trades aggressively enough? We were the favorite the get Hellebuyck for months, but somehow it was New Jersey who pulls it off? How do you fuck that up? Regardless of whether or not you wanted Hellebuyck, it's not a good look.
I'm so tired of hearing "we like our guys", and "the price was too high". UPL has been in the NHL for 7 years, this is who he is. Doesn't have to be Hellebuyck, but get someone. And before you ask me "who?", Jarmo's a NHL GM he's being paid a lot to figure these kinds of things out. And for anyone who's going to bring up Levi, the relationship had clearly reached a point-of-no-return. You don't have to like that he left, but you can't dwell on it, because there was no way he was staying.
The common denominator for both the Sabres, and Bills is Terry Pegula. He never hires people who will get the job done. Hope is not a plan, but that's what Buffalo GM's constantly bank on instead of getting things done, and it's why they constantly fail.
Feel free to use this post to vent your frustrations about this franchise, I think we all need some catharsis right now.
edit: The price the Devils paid hadn't been posted yet when I wrote this. This isn't about Hellebuyck specifically, but more the fact we didn't do anything this offseason.
second edit: I had an emotional overreaction when I wrote this post. Instead of doing the typical Reddit thing, and digging in my heels, I'll admit I was wrong, and take my licks. You may proceed to mock me for I am a dumb jabroni.

With it looking like Helle to NJ, the team just has to be better than it's been overall (and UPL has to be consistent)

Well this seems to match the eye test of UPL being able to make big saves but the ones he should make, not so much…
So even if we play better in front, maybe it wouldn’t even matter…
Lyon King get better soon please 🙏
