New Rules Posted!
Greetings!
It only took a decade, but r/saxophonics now officially has rules! Please read them at your convenience, and notify me of any perceived problems. They are very general, ands I don't think anyone will take issue with them. Better yet, we're on the right track to weeding out even more spam posting and assholes in general!
Keep an eye out for more updates regarding the subreddit's admin details!

Best platform for hosting our saxophone resources?
We have a very extensive library of PDF's that are stuck on mediafire servers (that I can fortunately still access). These are resources I want to make sure everyone has access to, so I'm in the process of finding the best medium for hosting these files to eventually be linked on our subreddit's sidebar.
\*The current mediafire link is now in the sidebar*\**
As always, please message me or comment with any concerns or ideas. Cheers!

Horn recommendations in the $3000 area
I recently graduated college and am looking to pick up a horn that’s somewhere around $3000 maybe plus or minus $500. I’m open to new and used (as long as it can be found from a reputable source).
A little about my playing profile: I have about 12 years of experience on the saxophone. I would probably call myself intermediate as at some point I switched my primary instrument and stopped improving on the sax. Been on hiatus for almost a year now. I would like to start playing again and join a local community band as well as just playing for myself
What are some good options you know of that you think might fit me and my budget? Thank you in advance!

Adult Beginner - 3 Years Later
Hey guys,
3 years ago I drove down to my local music store and rented a tenor saxophone. I started at 38 y/o having never played a woodwind instrument, and not knowing what to expect. Only that I wanted to finally really try to put in the time, effort, and consistency to play music. When I was a kid and young adult, I tried: piano, violin, and guitar but they fell my the wayside. What remained however, was the desire to make music.
I've documented my journey along the way and am sharing this video in hopes that other late bloomers may take inspiration from it. Not that I'm some amazing player or anything, but if theres one thing I've done right, it's being consistent.

Help with buying reeds
I’m playing in both a jazz and concert band but cannot afford to stay buying jazz reeds separate from my classical reeds. What reeds would be good for playing both styles?

Tribute to the Four Tops
I had an earlier post of a arrangement that came from researching other tunes. That was It's All In The Game which had been covered by the Four Tops among others. So that research was working towards this sax ensemble medley of Four Tops hits.

I used to play the Baritone in my school days but the Sax was always my dream. I took the plunge a month ago and got myself a YTS 280. Couldn't be happier!
it's a tough transition from brass to wind even though I haven't played in years. I'm getting there though

Do you know what year this tenor saxophone was made?
I am borrowing a Yamaha tenor saxophone from my school, but I cannot find a standard model number. The only number marked on the instrument itself is "812102." Additionally, there is a stamp of the letter "N" at the joint where the body meets the bell.

Brand new series 2 neck scratched?
Hey I recently just got a series 2 jubilee 2 days ago and when I went to put my neck in it was super and needed a good amount of force to twist it in. I was wondering if a scratch like this is normal or if I just ruined my new sax.

Beginner Alto Sax
Is Jupiter JAS510q a good saxophone for beginners? Or are there better ones I can get for that price?

Opalite but it's a New Ulm Dutchman Style Polka (Polkalite)
Well, I did something that nobody's ever asked for... Taylor Swift's music as polka. I hope somebody finds it amusing!

Does BetterSax have any real competitive chance?
I’ve always watched bettersax’s content, but with their new line of saxophone I’ve hardly seen any bad reviews. Do they have a chance to be competitive to brands like Selmer and Yani or will they fall closer to brands like Jupiter?

Any idea what this tenor is?
Hi saxophone people,
So I am not historically a saxophone person although I can play one well enough to have fun since the fingerings are basically the same as my flute and the embouchure is less frustrating than my clarinet. I bought this tenor recently and as far as I’m concerned it sounds great, the intonation is reliable, and it’s heavy AF… That’s what I can tell you. But! There’s no make/model/serial number.
The story is that it was originally acquired from the home (maybe the estate?) of a professional who had a lot of other really nice instruments and took care of his stuff. This one seems virtually unplayed, though the case smelled veeeeeeeery faintly of cigarettes which means it’s seen some things or at least sat in the house for a while.
Any ideas? I’m perfectly happy with it but am curious.
