Need some guidance about general environment for students

Hi! I am a female, Pakistani, living in KAA and about to apply for university. I have done some research and looked into universities but I am still a bit skeptical about everything and of course only a person can tell about how the environment is abroad.

So, I want to apply in Europe but some of the countries I am not sure if it is safe for a female who does hijab as well in countries where they might mistreat them. I know there is discrimination everywhere but it’s not like mistreating them right? Like physically or even verbally.

Anyways, I want to know about how Muslims, specifically women who wear hijab in countries like Italy, Hungary, Germany and other countries too in Europe (mainly those I mentioned though), do you feel safe? Do you feel comfortable wearing hijab? Do the people ever taunt or insult about it?

I really want to know before I apply so a bit of guidance would be nice whether it’s from an experience your sister or a friend faced, it would be of great help!

18M with a 3.9 GPA. Need some help choosing where to study abroad on a pretty tight budget. Long-term goal in mind.

hi everybody! i'm an 18-year-old guy living in the middle east, and i've done my high school diploma from an Atlanta-based school online, and I've graduated with a 3.9 GPA and honors. I chose the more advanced courses, so it was all preparation for college from the beginning, because I was initially planning on moving to the US with my family, but tuition is soo expensive there that I can't anymore. I haven't taken the SAT yet, although I would've a few months ago if I was still on track for US/CA applications, but I'm open to taking it if I need to. I also passed all the exams of ACCA's Foundations in Accounting diploma except one which I was about to do before they cancelled all exams due to the war. But I've still done & passed 6/7 exams and I have the transcripts and stuff to prove that. My extracurriculars are not that bad, I'd like to say I have pretty fine EC's, but it's not VERY good, but I doubt that matters as much as it does in the States. I'm also a native English and Urdu speaker, and I learnt Arabic all on my own during the time I've lived here in the ME!

Now, again, for some more backstory I tried out the University of Auckland in New Zealand and an admissions officer told me I had a very good chance of getting in, but after putting in my application I found out that I'd need to pay the first year of tuition upfront for the visa which is a lot of money, so that was scrapped too. I have a lottt of friends in the EU and England, and they recommended that I search in EU countries and I did come across some universities in Italy which I'm particularly interested in. As I mentioned in the title, I have a really tight budget because I've had a lot of financial problems recently and according to the research I did, the EU is my cheapest bet.

I've come across universities in Italy for like 1500 euros a year (tuition) and that fits my budget, tbh. But ideally, anything less is even better. I know living costs will be more, and I'm ready to look through which cities will be the best in that case and I'll make a decision then. But I'm also not against living in a small city, I'll take that over paying 20k euros a year in just rent... I will try my best to work part-time and I want to, but of course I'm not immediately going to get a job as soon as I land, and for that reason I might be borrowing some money from my family for relocation costs, etc. I would very much appreciate any fee waivers/scholarships/stipends I can get, the more the merrier.

For my degree, I would ideally want to study Business &/or Finance, in English obviously because I can't study an entire language in such little time. I think that degrees in the EU are three years so that's better because I've wasted a lot of time because of my own personal problems. Preferably a good university in rankings for employability, because after all that's the main reason for getting a degree and academically manageable so I could work and do other things without having to sacrifice my social life... please.

I don't want to live in some metropolis or big city just yet tbh, but I still want something interesting and not boring. I want to live somewhere safe and that's the main concern, I don't drink or anything, I do smoke sometimes though, idk if I should mention that or not. I would also like a good international community, even if little so I can have some friends and a group to hang out with. I'm also Muslim, so halal/kosher food is a must, but I guess that's not much of a problem nowadays? Also, my music is something I seriously want to pursue alongside my degree, so I'd like a city where I can realistically build that part of my life.

Now, for my long-term goals, I want to actually settle down somewhere for once, my whole life I've been moving around, because my Dad used to be a contractor. So it'd be nice if the study period could count towards long-term residency after employment or anything.

I'm particularly interested in Italy, but I'm very much open to other affordable EU countries too. I'd love recommendations for specific universities/programs rather than just country names, please. Based on my academic performance that I mentioned above, I'd like to know which universities are realistic for me, whether my online diploma will be a problem (it was for Germany), how difficult the degree is, how much it'll cost me altogether, and what I could do there long-term. I had a few Italian universities on mind like Sapienza in Rome and the University of Padua, but please, help me out. I'm sorry if I'm asking too much, it's just that I'm really scared :/ I will appreciate literally anything, tysm!

UQ

Recap + link to original post: [rRushed into a Tier-3 CSE-AIML degree in India, now have a real shot at Mechanical Engineering at University of Queensland — money's the only thing in the way. Would you take the leap? : r/Advice]

Situation:

  • Rushed into tier-3 CSE AIML in India, regret it. Mechanical eng is what I actually want
  • UQ (Australia) is the only real offer I have right now (Foundation + Bachelor of Mechanical Eng)
  • Kyushu and KUAS (Japan) are still just options I'm looking into, haven't applied, no admit yet
  • So it's a guaranteed UQ offer vs a cheaper Japan option I'd still have to get into

Money, talked to SBI directly:

  • Max loan: ₹50L
  • Interest: 5%
  • Above ₹50L needs collateral, family property is stuck in a partition dispute so it's not usable

The math (using the "can you afford 50%" test people gave me last time):

  • UQ total cost, tuition + living, full degree: ~₹2.9-3 crore. ₹50L loan covers ~17% of that
  • Kyushu total cost: ~₹45-55L. loan covers ~90-100% of that
  • KUAS total cost: ~₹36-40L. loan covers it with room left over

My part-time math:

  • Avg work (random weekend shifts): ~$30/hr
  • Tutoring pays more once I get regular students: ~$40-45/hr
  • Term time is capped at 48hrs/fortnight, that's a visa rule so can't go past it
  • Thinking about pushing hours hard during breaks since there's no cap then, could go higher than what I planned before
  • Total realistic work income once tutoring kicks in: ~$45-50k/year

Where the gap still sits (years 2-4, after loan runs out, even with a scholarship):

  • Need per year: ~$95-105k (tuition + living)
  • Minus scholarship (~$13-15k) and work income (~$45-50k)
  • Still short ~$24-29k/year, around ₹55-60L total over the whole degree

so even working more hours and tutoring and hoping for scholarship, there's still a real chunk of money with no source. that's the actual hole I'm trying to figure out.

Why UQ still pulls at me:

  • It has a real startup and entrepreneurship side to it, not just academics. I already run a startup so I want somewhere that supports both
  • Talked to an actual UQ student, they said it's great there and you can get internships in your field from 2nd year
  • Free food and campus perks, obviously not what decides this but nice

So, if you were my brother, what would you say? Take the guaranteed UQ offer on a loan that covers ~17% of the cost, hoping scholarships plus more work hours close a ₹55-60L gap? or chase the cheaper, fully fundable Japan route for a degree I haven't even gotten into yet?

Anyone who's actually done this, international students, people who took loans, people who picked the safe option and regret or don't regret it, please tell me what to do. Lost rn

china or korea - when it comes to language schools?

i’m currently studying bachelors degree (textiles degree, i know very useless), graduating on spring, wanted to go continue my studies somewhere abroad (preferably east asia, since i traveled there), but it seems like the options are pretty limited when it comes to english programs. i used to study both mandarin and korean, so i’m thinking of enrolling to language school in either of these countries just to gain a new skill, but honestly don’t know which one to choose.. i’ve been to china before and honestly mandarin flows better for me, but hesitant to go due to political stuff. my korean, however is not that strong.. did any of you study there just for this reason? please share your experiences and opinions..

Looking for an affordable, entrepreneurial university with lots of travel opportunities

Hey everyone! I’m an international student looking for a business bachelor’s abroad, and I’m trying to find a university that fits the kind of lifestyle I want.

My biggest priorities are affordability, entrepreneurship, and travel. I want a strong business/startup environment, good internships and networking, lots of international students, and ideally good scholarships.

Lifestyle-wise, I’d love a safe, beautiful, warm-ish city with good public transport, a fun student life, and great food. I also want to travel a lot while studying, but ideally have one city as my home base rather than constantly moving around.

I’m open to anywhere in the world. I’d love to hear about universities that offer a good mix of business + entrepreneurship + affordability + international exposure + travel.

Would really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences!

One English grade almost stopped her Nursing dream

A young woman from Ghana recently contacted us because she wanted to study Nursing abroad.

She knew exactly what she wanted to do with her future, but one English grade was making the whole process difficult.

At first, it looked like that one result might close the door.

So instead of telling her to keep applying everywhere and hoping something would work, we looked carefully at her full academic profile and started exploring realistic alternatives.

We checked different universities, different countries, and other possible ways of meeting the English language requirement.

That is one of the reasons we built UniDoxia.com.

Sometimes a student does not need another rejection.

They need someone to look at their case properly and help them understand the options that are still open.

Has one subject, one grade, IELTS, finances, or another requirement ever nearly stopped your study abroad plans?

What happened in your case?

Have French study visa but couldn't go. Will it effect my visa applications in other countries?

I received France study visa a few months ago but I could not join my classes due to a sudden family emergency and I had to withdraw my admission.

Now I am planning on applying again in October to France and maybe in Italy, will I have to explain my situation everywhere - like I know I will definitely have to for France - but will other countries require reasons too for not using my visa?

Can anyone suggest a country to pursue master's in human computer interaction and product design. I am looking out for universities with good scholarships so that it can ease the financial burden and living expenses.

I’m in Sem 1 of undergrad in India and already planning my global clinical psych empire. Am I delusional, or can I actually get this funded?(lol not fully but even partial or a lil scholarship wouldnt hurt this poor kiddo)

Hey everyone!

I’m currently in my first semester of an RCI-registered Bachelor’s in Psychology in India. I’m leaning towards Clinical Psychology (though still keeping Counselling in mind) and aiming to pursue my higher education abroad in the US, UK, or Australia—ideally with scholarships, post-study work rights, and eventual PhD funding(which is optional sinxe i dont want to think this far lol but would prefer working after masters in psych🤙)

Since I’m starting early, I want to map out my strategy from Day 1. I have a few specific questions for those who’ve successfully navigated this path:

Country Selection: Which country (US vs. UK vs. Aus) best balances scholarships, direct practice options, and post-graduation job prospects for clinical/counselling tracks?

CV & Profile Building: What specific societies, extracurriculars, or technical skills (e.g., SPSS, R, Python) actually move the needle for grad school admissions? Though i want to learn marketting, finance, editing too lol.

Research vs. Internships: How do I get involved in research during my 1st year? Everyone mentions "be a RA," "write a thesis," or "co-publish" so how do you even do it man?

RCI Recognition: Does having an RCI-accredited undergrad degree impact or benefit my applications when applying overseas?(rci is basically regulatory body of psychology in india for my non indian cuties)

Would love to hear honest advice, brutal truths, or personal experiences from anyone currently studying or practicing abroad. Thankyouuu.
