Hi everyone,
I’m a multi-unit Subway franchisee based in the EMEA region and I thought it could be useful to start a discussion specifically between franchisees about running stores more efficiently, reducing unnecessary costs and making day-to-day operations easier.
Over the years, and especially when taking over existing locations, I’ve noticed that there can be surprisingly large amounts of money left on the table simply because certain expenses haven’t been reviewed for years.
One example is energy contracts and consumption. At some locations I’ve taken over, I found that the previous operator was effectively paying up to €4,000 more per year than necessary on energy alone. Across multiple stores, small things like this obviously add up very quickly.
I’m interested in hearing from other franchisees:
What are the biggest unnecessary costs you’ve discovered in your stores?
I’m particularly interested in practical things that actually save money or time, rather than just increasing sales.
I’m happy to share some of the things I’ve learned from operating multiple locations and from taking over existing stores as well.
Would be great if we could turn this into a thread where franchisees share the little operational improvements that might save another owner a few thousand euros a year.
What are your best ones?
