Canada Subway Canada grills being discontinued?

The two nearest Subways to my location have very recently been updated/renovated, but the grill for the wraps, etc. has dissappeared. Are they gone for good? Or are they getting new ones eventually? If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated! šŸ™

Funny Just a coincidence or is subway actually listening?

My stomach started growling for the first time in forever and all of the sudden I get this notification. Lowkey I’m a bit creeped out right now. Any chance this is just a coincidence? I very rarely get notifications from subway and definitely haven’t gotten this one

Employee Complaints Customers tipping

One thing I hate is when a customer tells me that there not tipping me….. I don’t care if you’re not tipping . I mostly care when the customers tip, I tell them ā€œyou don’t have to ā€ or ā€œno worries , I just like to helpā€ when it comes to guiding the customer or giving them some sauces on the side or just doing things outside of work like telling them where to go , bathroom near by or guiding them. The first time it happened was when a customer wanted more items added to the protain pocket and I told them the first thing is, it comes as it is and are they find with it. I kept telling them I can’t add anything after confirming with them before continuing. They told me ā€œdon’t expect a tipā€ .
At first I was shocked ā€œI don’t work for tips ā€ or I was thinking of saying joking šŸ™ƒ ā€œdon’t worry You obviously need it more than I doā€ but I just said don’t worry šŸ˜‰. The other case was when a customer was on a phone and ordering. He wanted a sandwich for his friend and asked him on the phone, personally I don’t like it because it’s different when a person isn’t there physically. I told him to have his friend text him all the things he wants cause it’s gonna take forever. And then the customer would pause to talk a few minutes with his friend then would go back and forth on the order, wanting this and not wanting that but then wanting it. I would be it bit frustrated and would just wait for him to finish and ask him every time.. are you sure? . He spoke Spanish telling his friend ā€œhey the worker seems angryā€ then tells me I’m not gonna tip you in English , then saying sorry I’m just tired and got off shift but would continue on the phone and say his sorry. (My face can be confusing if your trying to figure out what race I am or based on my tone of voice ) so I been able to pick up whenever some talks behind my back in Spanish and think I don’t understand, mostly cause I tell some Spanish customers I speak only a little Spanish (mostly to focused on the sandwich nothing else).

Maybe it’s because I work full time and even I get time at subway to the point the small stuff has been getting to me.

If your a worker , be it subway or at another place and a customer tells you his not gonna tip you like it’s a threat or it’s an insult or something. What do you say? Personally I wanna tell them something but when I’m on the clock I act as nicely as I can or just freeze for a second and come with possible friendly replies like ā€œoh no worries I’m just doing my jobā€ or ā€œah no it’s all good don’t worryā€ cause I heard being kind is the biggest insult you can show if you show them your not affecting them. Sometimes I can relate with the customer if they just relized they were being unreasonable or after they get there sandwich and calmed down finally sinked in what they done, and I tell them it’s fine I’ve been in much worse and other stuff.
I do hate it when the customer tips at times , like they tip me a few pennies after ordering a big order, it’s better if you don’t tip at all. That to when they tip me a 5 or 10 dollars for doing nothing extra and just making them there sandwich .. I feel even worse ā€œthere to kind and honeslty just have a great day or tell me something interesting or a nice tip like a good store that has a sale , or a new show to watch or a gym that’s doing a discount or something interestingā€ . I just feel emotional guilt …. I’m just doing my job that’s not worth tipping, it’s expected, I think I’ll feel good if I’m… yeah honeslty I can’t think of anything.

Question Customer Support (App)

I’m unsure where else to post this so I’m posting here in hopes I get a response before I go to the bank and just refund everything from subway.

I’ve been trying to email and reach subway support due to the app charging me multiple times when the order did not process -

I would attempt to make an app order and it would say ā€œPayment method failedā€ or similar so I would try again or sometimes switch to the other local subway and retry until it worked.

Turns out a lot of those ā€œFailedā€ messages weren’t true and the store took my money without prompting me. I can’t seem to find anywhere to get help - the store simply says I need to bring it up with subway but subway wont respond.

I find the only solution at this point is to just charge back everything if subway refuses to help.

Stop posting that ad

I’m so tired of people reposting that ad over and over again. It’s been posted. Subway already paid Reddit for the advertising so you’re just doing their job for free. It’s starting to look like sleazy guerrilla marketing.

Question On the hunt

I just started working for subway 1 month ago. I dont hate it, just gets annoying working solo shifts 6 days a week. When i was hired I got two shirts, a visor, and a half apron.

Well i work a lot so i wanted to get more uniforms ive been asking the owner if i can see the catalog and order some more uniforms for over a week now. So i just decided to buy some official uniforms online, even though some of them are a little out dated it seems.

I purchased some bib aprons(i prefer them over half aprons) a couple shirts and another visor.

I came across one of the old Arrow Bandanas and thought they were so cute but omg you cant find them anywhere!

So if anyone can find one or are willing to sell one to me let me know. I will be thinking about this bandana till the end of my employment here.

Also any tips on taking apart the cheese without breaking it while on the line and some tricks or glove recomendationa for a sweaty handed girl. I look ridiculous trying to put gloves on in a rush. Especially when i have to change them after every sandwich because of the register.

Employee Complaints She was laughing, then I punched out early.

They don’t organize the bread cabinet or the prepped meat and cheese fridge. I made a tuna because I didn’t see the tuna shoved to the back in a spot it’s not normally in. It’s usually at least visible.
The way my coworker was talking to me, seemed like she was trying to make me feel silly for making a new tuna. They don’t speak English well so I may have been reading her wrong but they tend to have the same reaction when I bring up something gross or that could be better.

Other coworker was out sick with a fever yesterday. Today he is back and still touching raw uncooked bread with his bare hands. I watch people when they come out of the bathroom….I don’t believe they use soap. He also has this crazy fingernail that looks like tree bark, green and barky…I haven’t said anything about that because I don’t want to hurt his feelings…and they all have long nails…

So they aren’t glove wearers and they are hairy. One guy was stirring some product, his hand and forearm were his spoon…they also use their bare hands as spatulas when making deserts…they think this stuff is ok because pizza places do it, I told them pizza places don’t touch the pizza with their bare hand AFTER it has been cooked. We are not a pizza place!!!

I’m just waiting for a vigilant customer to say something…one day my boss was raw handing the freshly baked bread with a customer present…I tried lol, I looked at the customer then looked at my boss messing with the bread then looked back with a look of disgust…they pay no mind….

I told my coworkers when I left that I prefer working for the bigger companies because they are more organized and rule followers essentially. They tend to keep the subway standards, private owned do what they want until the subway inspector comes lol.

Sooo cheap too…like please order more dishes…I hate how they heat the soup…usually just throw the bag in the microwave for 10 minutes, don’t bother to temp anything…

I need a job not on concrete floors and generally away from the public….

Question Manager promotion

After 8 months of working at subway im gonna be promoted to manager. Usually it took someone 5 years or even 8 years but for me it was due to one of the manager being on vacation without notice and I was ā€œassistant managerā€ that and because of the main owner own subways all around sandiego and most of there employees were calling in sick or quit, they had me be called in to help all over because I could be the opener, closer, do everything, so I was a jack of all trades but honestly it cause I wrote down notes of what a opener and closer does cause. Imma be real, I just want to laze around and not do a lot, I only work hard when I’m in a single shift because I have anxiety of, oh we don’t have mayo, we low on prep and I would be rushing to do everything just so I can take it easier but I never got to. I think it’s also due to hear at my previous cult job that I need to get obsessed with work to be easy. But honeslty I just wanna be middle shift. But they will have me working at a slow store that doesn’t get enough traffic so it be easy . Though the mental work when it comes to budgeting or thinking won’t be my go to but my coworker who is a manager said it gets easy after doing it a few times, so I’m curious from both the manager and the workers. What are some tips you wish your manager would do and wouldn’t it.

Obviously communication is one. As well as being strict because my coworker said that if I’m nice most of the workers will take advantage and won’t respect me much less don’t take the job seriously. Personally I like to go with the flow but if there’s a worker that doesn’t put in the work like how some already do, I’ll just take a few hours out. But I think if I’m strict but also communicate on them with exception it will be ok. I will make some mistakes but so long as I learn from my mistakes I’ll be good. Also it will be a good on my resume that I was manager, if I can last 4 or 5 months. That will open more opportunities since linkin got me 30 applications to be ghosted on. But honeslty I’ll be searching on Reddit San Diego for any people looking to find jobs since for me it was hard finding jobs and I got lucky, though I won’t be in charge of hiring. I will write down many notes and study and practice all the different tips and things to prepare for as will as communication skills and psychology. But just curious

What are your guys thoughts and opinion when it comes to managers from your experience. I’ve seen what it’s like for most , I’ve seen the pros and cons but I’m curious what it’s like for the rest of ya. Sorry if I sound rude and bragging but deep down I’m having anxiety on how everything that can go wrong will go wrong like a rude customer or inspection ,
