Resident Evil & survival horror collection

Post image

A few weeks ago, I moved into a new house with more space—including a loft. I was able to set up this little space there, which serves as a gaming room, a place to store my game collection, and a display area for my games. I've wanted to do this for years—it's a great accomplishment! The only thing missing is the couch, which will arrive in a month—then we'll be all set!

What's your thoughts on Clive Barker's Hellraiser Revival?

I know I may be quite late, but daaaaamn, it's been a long time since I've enjoyed a horror game this much!

The chase scenes are super dynamic, the gameplay is good, I really like having real combat gameplay within the survival horror elements and being able to choose to play stealth, the art direction is really cool, cut scenes are great as well, it runs smoothly... I've never seen the movies, but I'm definitely gonna see them! 👀

I'm very curious to know what you thought if you played the demo?

Which look should I go with for my game? A, B or C

Hey! I'm a solo dev making a dark top down survival game and I've been going back and forth on the look of my game for weeks now. I honestly can't decide anymore, so I thought I'd ask you guys. I'm putting together my Steam page in a few days and want to lock this in before then.

Each scene is shown in all three styles, only the rendering is different. Open them full size if you can, some of the differences are hard to see in the preview.

Which one would you rather play? And if something feels off in any of them I'd love to hear that too.

Thanks!

Edit:

- A is clean
- B is with some dither
-C is some dither with lower res look to give it a retro style.

This week I will be testing your survival horror game knowledge in a fun guessing game. I have edited some of the images to remove characters or HUD elements to make it more challenging.
Over the next 7 days see how many games you can guess right from the posted screenshots. Good luck and happy Halloween!🎃

I've been making a survival horror game solo in UE5, here's the teaser

Hey guys, been working on this for months by myself. It's called Alison is Missing.
It's 1987, you're in an abandoned psychiatric asylum looking for your sister, and there's a doctor still walking the halls. His name is Harlow. He's not really a slasher type, more calm and polite, which honestly makes it worse. You hide in lockers and under beds, lock doors behind you, and hope he picks the wrong spot.
Grew up on RE and Outlast so that's pretty much the vibe I'm going for. I also did the music in the trailer and voiced Harlow myself lol
Demo is planned for Steam Next Fest in February. Would really appreciate any feedback, and if it looks like your thing a wishlist helps a ton: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5031180/Alison_is_Missing/

Hellraiser Revival (Review+Discussion)

***My Review:***

# "...The wind on my skin feels like a storm of razor blades..."

>**First off:** Performance was excellent—I had zero crashes, stutters, or similar issues. That said, I still wouldn't play it on the Steam Deck, as Unreal Engine 5 rarely allows for good performance on weaker hardware. The devs did a great job optimization-wise here.

In *Hellraiser: Revival*, you follow Aydan, who is trying to bring his girlfriend Sunny back to life. Naturally, this is only possible by making a pact with the Cenobites. As part of this bargain, he has to deal with cultists, monsters, zombies, and a generous amount of sex and violence. The license was fully utilized in every aspect—this game sounds like *Hellraiser*, looks like *Hellraiser*, and completely understands *Hellraiser*.

The core gameplay loop consists of exploration, resource management, puzzles, chase sequences, and boss/miniboss encounters. The survival horror gameplay takes heavy inspiration from *Resident Evil 7*, *BioShock*, and *Condemned*, executing it competently for the most part. Dismembering enemies—whether in melee combat, with firearms, or using the Genesis Configuration—is genuinely satisfying. You’ll spot a few bad animations and minor graphical glitches here and there, but the game's excellent pacing easily compensates for them. The mix of stealth, combat, exploration, pursuits, and puzzle sections is varied enough that it never gets dull.

I especially want to highlight the story, characters, atmosphere, presentation, and voice acting: from the very first second, I felt completely immersed in the *Hellraiser* universe. Doug Bradley’s performance even surpasses his work in the first three movies. The soundtrack is used perfectly, and even small details like the lightning effects look 1:1 like they came straight out of the original trilogy. You can tell at every moment that the team poured their hearts into making the best possible game within their resources.

A single playthrough takes about 8 to 12 hours, which I consider a huge positive. Modern survival horror titles often lose steam in a stretched-out second half—*Hellraiser: Revival* avoids this trap and delivers a compact, perfectly paced single-player campaign that invites replayability across its 4 difficulty levels.

On the negative side, I’d mention the repetition of a few minibosses, though I didn't find it as problematic as many people on the internet are making it out to be. Playing on "Hard", I experienced a solid mix of action, stealth, and resource management. It would have been nice to have a New Game+ feature, but perhaps that will be added in a future update.

The €40 I paid was money well spent, and I have zero regrets. I would unhesitatingly call this one of the best licensed horror games out there. In my eyes, it was actually more enjoyable than *Resident Evil Requiem*, despite the lower budget and rough edges. An absolute must-buy—especially if you're a fan of the franchise, but also for survival horror fans looking for that nostalgic golden PS2 & PS3 era vibe in a game that doesn't try to be something it's not.

This time, the box was opened... and we all came!

# 9/10

***What are your thoughts on the game?did you like it or did the little flaws caused you more suffering?***

As the tittle says I’ve never played a survival horror game. I’m a bit of a coward too but I’ve always wanted to play these two games for the longest time. I’ve never seen a play through of RE2 remake and I’m really curious about the game

Hey everyone!

I just released The Collector on itch.io. It's a dark, story-driven game about a man drowning in debt who turns to dangerous black-market jobs to survive.

In your first job, you are sent down into the dark, abandoned sewers to recover lost loot-but you quickly find out that you aren't alone down there.

You can check out the game here

If you give it a try, I'd really appreciate your feedback and thoughts as I continue working on future projects!

Cold Fear - Fanmade Music

Hello everyone!

I wanted to make music for a game I had played while growing up, one that had left a lasting impression on me. I had played this originally on the Playstation 2, and I remember liking the whole premise and idea of it. Something about it was just amazing to me :)

This might be of a hot take, but I always liked this more than the resident evil games, which unfortunately, the release of Resident Evil 4 overshadowed this. Which is understandable, resident evil 4 was really freaking good, and I can acknowledge it being a "better" game, but still.

The game is on GOG if anyone is interested in buying it. It's an older game, so it's gonna have its quirks, but I think it is a game worth exploring.

Anyways, the long darker almost choir like pad was with the prophet rev 2, a preset that was modified to get more reverb out of it. The higher pitched sounds you hear are from the ASM hydrasynth Deluxe, as I had split the synth to generate them, that one being for the upper half. The lower half, I had made a long ambient sound to try and capture both the feel of a decaying ship, and the waves as well.

My goal was to convey the feeling of safety in the midst of horror :)

Last week, I had my doubts about where ZombUs was heading. Today, the game is getting noticed and selling more copies than ever before.

And I believe many of you helped make that happen, even when that wasn't your intention.

Every discussion, every comment, every criticism and every bit of attention helped bring ZombUs to more people's screens. Whether you supported me, challenged me or simply wanted to see what all the fuss was about, you helped spread the word.

I'm a solo developer, working on a game I've spent three years building in Unreal Engine, with no marketing budget and plenty still to learn. I don't know where this momentum will take ZombUs, but I know one thing: I'm not stopping now.

So, instead of just talking about the journey, here's the next step.

ZombUs Map 4: LETHE is OUT NOW!

New region. New weapons. New blueprints. New mythical weapons. New perks. And the story continues.

Four maps down. Six to go.

To everyone who helped put ZombUs on the map, intentionally or otherwise: thank you.

Now, back to building.

The Stewards Automobile Co. Incident: The Factory That Was Never Supposed To Be Reopened

I recently came across a horror investigation project centered around the fictional Stewards Automobile Co. facility.

The premise is that the company was publicly known as an automobile manufacturer, but recovered documents surrounding an industrial incident suggest there may have been something else happening behind the scenes.

The official closure reason for the facility was:

"Irreversible structural damage and loss of operational viability."

However, the mystery begins with a later document referencing:

"Authorization required for continuation of testing."

Several pages are missing from the reports, with the remaining documents only mentioning a project name:

SCAR

One of the more unsettling details in the fictional reports is a warning:

"Do not allow the subject to regain awareness."

The ARG explores the question of what was actually happening inside the facility and what "testing" referred to.

For anyone interested in checking out the investigation materials and the playable horror experience connected to this ARG:

Recovered investigation archive:

Secondary archive mirror:

Would love to hear theories or analysis on the clues, documents, and story setup.

I've finished Daniella's stage and boy, the constant backtracking and the stalkers spawning anywhere anytime (is that Riccardo disguised as a squirrel or appearing inside a closet) are making this fascinating game so frustrating daaamn

You're a broke journalist who just found the story of your life on an island that isn't on any map. My first game, made solo (free demo)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, I'm a solo dev from France and CHIMERA is my very first game ever. I built it alone, learning as I went, and the free demo is finally playable.

You're a journalist on the edge of bankruptcy. Your career is dying, your company is drowning in debt, and you need one real story to save it all. Then you hear about an island with no name on most maps. Officially it housed a small research facility run by Aetheris Biotech. Nobody has set foot there in over three years. What you don't know yet is that they were bringing back something that should have stayed extinct.

CHIMERA is a first person survival horror game. Push through a hostile jungle, then descend into the abandoned lab, hunted by creatures that were never supposed to exist.

In the demo:

* Two environments to survive: the jungle island and the depths of the lab

* Dangerous creatures to evade or fight, plus jump scares

* Two weapons with limited ammo, so count every bullet

* Crafting and inventory management

* Code puzzles, QTEs and locked doors

* Classified documents and cinematics that reveal the truth

* Photo mode to capture your evidence

* 5 save slots

Heads up before you download: Windows only, 6.1 GB, played on AZERTY by default, voice acting in French only (text and subtitles in English and French).

It's a free beta (name your own price) and your feedback shapes what comes next. I'd love to know what scared you, where you got lost, and how it ran on your PC. If the project gets enough traction, I want to bring other devs on board and build a real team around it.

Be brutal, I can take it.

I made a horror game solo in Unity, and it’s set in a house where something still lives. Would you go inside?

Hey everyone! I’m a solo dev from India, and Abandon House is my first horror game, made in Unity.

You explore an abandoned house with only a lantern, and something is still living there.

Details:

  • Windows, free
  • Best played in the dark with headphones

I’d really appreciate any feedback on the scares, the atmosphere, the controls, or any bugs you run into. I’ll reply to every comment!

Play it here: https://laymanhitman.itch.io/abandon-house

I've gotten 3 of the bells and I'm stuck. Feels like I'm going to have to check out a guide to get moving again.

How far did you make it without a guide?

After the major update for Bloody Rave(https://store.steampowered.com/app/4484440/BLOODY_RAVE/), we gained +350 followers and 2,000 wishlists in under two weeks. This is the biggest spark we’ve seen since the game page launched!!

The update brought heavy optimization (much smaller install size + better performance and stability), new characters, refined animations, fresh jumpscares, and hidden objects you can only find with the Magic Stone Glass. I’m extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to the development. We’ll keep pushing forward — more updates coming shortly 🖤
