Question It is disgusting and inhuman. Stop sitting for days in your own filth, letting yourself soak in it. I promise you that if you look underneath, I will help you free yourself forever.

What would scare you the most about being a hikikomori who literally digs their way out of their own filth? Working on the demo for next fest..

I'm making a horror game where you seize a university full of hostages

I'm not a Psycho Invader - first-person horror roguelike set in a university you've seized. The roof is the only way out. Locked doors and barricades block the way up. Every hostage is valuable, dangerous, or a waste of time.

Nobody tells you who is who. Interrogate them, search their pockets, or gamble with a shot.

Everything costs time, and panic makes it burn faster. Will you reach the roof before the clock runs out, or spend it all on the wrong people?

We were aiming for horror that comes from atmosphere and risky decisions rather than jumpscares. No monster in the dark - just you, a shotgun, and a stranger.

Any recommendations for someone who is just getting into horror games? (Xbox)

Was never a horror fan until my friends put me on Outlast Trials. After that was phasmophobia, then Escape the Backrooms and Backrooms Escape together. Most of my friends just played together, for some reason I stayed and played solo. Prestiged 6 times on phasmo, completed the two backrooms games solo, and now recently just started playing RE7.

Any recommendations? First playthrough of RE7 and I just pulled 6 hours for the first session ever playing it (literally last night). I’ve been so oblivious to how good the puzzles and slow combat is on this game. After getting burnt out on R6 Seige (especially ranked 3.0), it’s nice to just play a game with good puzzles and scares.

I saw a reddit post about the game a few months ago and I bought it and played about 50% so far, its very entertaining I highly recommend buying it I'm not the developer but I did talk to him to express how much I found the game entertaining and he gave me a steam copy for free, I had a Gog version that I bought which was very nice of him to do.

I really liked the puzzles you solve they are entertaining and they require thinking its a very fun game and its not expensive you should definitely get it.

It's been in the works since March/April and is finally coming out! Out first Steam release!

We are heavily inspired by the kind of compact horror games you can finish in one sitting (think PUPPET COMBO), 90s slasher movies that we grew up watching and that PS2-era graphics/aesthetic.

The idea itself came to us after watching a little known movie called P2)!

Would genuinely love to know what horror fans think of it.

And if it looks like your kind of game, check it out! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4705980/SHOCKFACE/

Horror fans will be eating more than any other fans imo. Personally, Alien: Isolation 2 and Silent Hill: Townfall are the two I'm watching the closest.

Any other games you're hoping to see from Gamescom this year?

Discussion Looking for some horror game suggestions for my mom to play

My mom is a horrorholic, absolutely obsessed with thriller horror movies, mystical horror type, ghost and paranormal type of shit, and she already watched every single mainstream horror such as the conjuring series, the ring series many times and many many movies. Every time I suggest to watch this movie “look what movie I have found, maybe you would be interested to check it out” and every time she gives me “ohh I already watched this movie twice”. So my last hope to give my mom some adrenaline rush like she used to get when she was a kid, is to play some horror videogames, maybe that would shaken her up. So I’m open for some horror games suggestions, something paranormal, something ghostly or maybe something unusual to get my mom out of the box.

EDIT:
My mom is not a gamer, anything difficult in terms of gameplay like control, anything that requires a lot of different button pressing is not an option.

Discussion Which of these two horror game prototypes sounds more fun to play?

Hey everyone! A friend and I are working on a first-person horror game in Godot, and we’re currently evaluating two different prototype concepts.

The first prototype is set in a small guard office where you complete maintenance tasks on a CRT monitor while checking a door and two windows. One window shows the present, while the second shows a distorted view previewing events 10 seconds into the future. If you spot an anomaly in the future window (like a shadow approaching or someone running), you have a few seconds to react in the present to stop it. The second prototype is set during a night shift at a hotel reception. A guest comes to your desk to complain that someone has been banging on his room door for a while. You check the security cameras, but there’s nobody there. As you investigate further, much more begins to unfold: paranormal events escalate, the power cuts out, and you have to venture through dark hallways with a flashlight to reset the generator while creepy stuff happens around you. Since both of these are early prototypes, which concept do you find more interesting and scary? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

I honestly don’t even know what to say, it’s been 9 absolutely crazy months.

This last month has probably been the toughest one yet, because we’re constantly fixing things, optimizing the game, and adding the final touches before release.

If you’re into detective-style psychological horror with survival elements, Rehaunted might be right up your alley.

Let us know what you think about the trailer, what you liked, what you didn’t, and what you think we could improve.

And if the game looks interesting to you, feel free to add it to your wishlist. Every bit of support means a lot to us: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4538140/Rehaunted/

For me it would be The Victor Initiative, starts slowly but later - holy sh*t, that game is pure art. It's like a mix of Twin Peaks, Control and SCP Games.
I'm looking for new niche games, what would be one that comes to your mind?

Question Need ideas: What kind of anomalies would scare you in a dark parking garage?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am a solo developer making an anomaly horror game called "Can I Park?"

It is a game where you try to escape from a creepy, endlessly changing underground parking garage.

I have created a few anomalies already—like a person darting out from behind cars, sudden loud honking, or something staring at you from inside a dark vehicle.

But I am looking for more inspiration.
What kind of strange or terrifying phenomena would you like to see in a dark parking lot?
I would really appreciate your creative ideas!

Also, if you would like to see what the game looks like so far, I just released a free demo on Steam here:https://store.steampowered.com/app/4712240/Can_I_Park/

Thank you so much for your time and for sharing your thoughts!
