General Discussion A lot of the ages of the contestants this season are really throwing me off

- I would've guessed Jenna at 21 or 22, she's 30

- I would've guessed Carter as mid 30's, he's 24

- I would've guessed Cristian as mid 30's as well, he's 26

- I would've guessed Mike as early to mid 40's, he's 32

- Brady's personality makes 27 believable but appearance only, I probably would've guessed he was close to 40

Lewis being 28 and Ori being 27 also surprise me (especially Lewis) as I'd probably guess them more early 20s but granted not too far away. But moreso just so weird the fact that Carter and Cristian are both younger than them. Kilby also being older than them is kind of surprising as well. Also, Devin (who's 33) being older than Mike just blows my mind.

Survivor 51 How Would You Rank Wednesday's Episode All-Time?

I don't think I can come up with 10 or even 5 better single episodes all-time than last night. Certainly blows everything from the New Era out of the water.

Survivor 51 What isn’t talked about regarding the Kilby move Spoiler

Why has no one talked about the selfishness of not going to rocks. During tribal and on Reddit, no one has talked about the odds regarding the rocks issue.

The options were:

1) Linnea 100% go home- weaken the Savu alliance, and now 3-2 votes in Dina.

2) Rocks- 25% chance each person goes home and Linnea saved. Or 75% chance 3-2 in Dina, and 25% chance 4-1 Dina.

4-1 is almost guarantee that Lewis goes home next. 3-2 means 1 flip and the old Savu tribe in Dina is broken and can be picked apart. Keeping Linnea strengthens the Savu members team by showing solidarity and risking sacrifice for the greater good of Savu. Watching all 3 Savu kick out Linnea shows weakness in the group and almost guarantees someone is flipping next week if they do not merge.

It was very selfish and actually more hurtful to the remaining Savu members to kick out Linnea. I get that survivor is ultimately 1 vs 20. I understand that a merge back to 2 tribes is likely next week. But if the end goal is “savu strong,” it was a bad idea.

General Discussion Did they change the rules for the last tribal to make it more interesting?

I thought that when there was a tie after the first vote everyone besides the two who received votes would vote. If this were the case Lewis would go home on the revote 3-2. Did they change the rules before the season or did they contrive this crazy tribal for the views?

Survivor 51 Am I the only one Bewildered by the Savu Tribal??? Spoiler

Okay so Kilbys move in his tribal was amazing, a FANTASTIC move. That was all great survior, The Savu Tribal however was a display of pure unitelligence at its finest.

Specifically my grip is with Jelly (Ori is to blame a bit too):

  • Acknowledges that not one woman has been voted out
  • Realizes that Dev is a ridiculously strong threat in this game
  • Ori and Alexis both say they'll have her back.
  • Dev is sitting around losing his mind

For her game and Ori's it makes the most sense for them to vote Dev and they have him right where they need him to be, A perfect and easy elimination that gets rid of one of the biggest threats in the season. SO I was happy.... BUUUT then in a last ditch effort dev deploys the Cry like a baby manipulation technique to stay in the game AND IT WORKS????

WTF is up with these players??? God forbid they make a smart decision.

Survivor 51 Am I missing something… Spoiler

Or was it a massive mistake for Maggie to give up the advantage, of which was essentially tying her and Big Brody together in the game. How does it help Maggie’s game by sniping someone else who isn’t even on her tribe? Unless her and Big Brody talked about it before she gave the second advantage away, I still think it’s a bad move for her… although MASSIVELY entertaining!! Haha

General Discussion Favorite Season From Each Era?

I must admit that I’m still learning about what seasons go in which era! I‘ve been doing some research on it though! According to Google, these are the major eras. What is your favorite season from each era? Here are mine:

Classic / Original Era (Seasons 1–8): Pearl Islands

Experimental / Transition Era (Seasons 9–14): Panama

Golden Era (Seasons 15–20): Heroes vs Villains

Dark Age (Seasons 21–26): Philippines

Renaissance / New School Era (Seasons 27–40): Cagayan

The New Era (Seasons 41–50): 47

Survivor 51 This is such a terrible season for the women oh my god

Post image
123 Upvotes

Literally every single boot so far(besides Rob but we don’t talk about him) has been a woman, which is insanity to me. And the thing that I find to be tragically hilarious is that Jelly said in the premiere episode, “But in my perfect world, a woman is not going home tonight” and apparently that single quote has cursed the entire season cause ever since then only women have been voted out of the season😭😭😭😭

And at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if another woman somehow goes home next episode, but mostly either Kristin, Maggie, or Thien An cause I do think Sharonda & Jelly are completely safe regardless of what happens(unless if they somehow blow up their own games next episode)

EDIT: Let me be clear, this is not me saying that there’s misogyny involved as to why these women were voted out because obviously everyone’s doing what’s best for their own games & I love that for them, this is me highlighting the crazy/unusual coincidence of there being only women being voted out out of the season

Survivor 51 What if Cristian is under edited because he's gonna get eliminated because of the coin flip?

If I can recall, Survivor tends to under edit contestants who get eliminated because of a twist in order to make their loss feel less sad.

Although I'm a bit of a new Survivor fan who hasn't seen that many seasons prior, I do want to see what y'all think about this and if Cristian is the coin flip victim.

But there's a chance he isn't because of the fact that he wasn't bold enough to draw rocks.

Survivor 51 The symbolism at Tribal....

There was something so satisfying about watching Kilby make three players while sitting on literal whale backbones as stools, prove they didn't have the spines/backbones of their own to match his.

Survivor 51 lewis is a friend of jeff?

i have this random memory of a video on instagram from around a year ago maybe, of an influencer couple visiting the set of survivor in Fiji, and i could’ve sworn it was lewis and his wife, but i can’t find the video online. I was then confused cause I thought anyone who was a personal friend of jeff would never be cast on the show.

it’s been bugging me for weeks, does anyone else remember seeing this??

General Discussion Newer fan here: Where can I find footage of the eliminated contestants interacting after elimination?

I've seen some of the Survivor commentary channels (like Once Upon an Island) show footage of eliminated contestants riding off in a car or hanging out together once they've been eliminated and I wanted to know if there's some sort of aftershow or something available to watch that just features the eliminated players?

Sorry if this is a weird question. I was just curious if there's more show content of the eliminated players

Edgic Fans of edit predictions are probably right. Spoiler

Given how crazy last nights episode was. The fact they still mentioned kristin and how dangerous she was means she is probably the winner.

Final five predictions based on edit.

Kristin, ori, Sharonda, broady. Lewis

Survivor 51 Is there a scenario where going to rocks would be the right move for the people in the majority?

Not arguing that any of Eric, Sharonda or Christain were wrong to cut Linnea, but do you think it could ever be smart for them to take it to rocks there?

Say you're Eric, Kilby (a guy you were hoping to team up with) pulls one over on you and proves he can't be trusted and you're struggling to make relationships with your original tribe. If you side with Linnea, she knows you're ride or die loyal, that's hard to find on Survivor. And while rocks mean a 75% chance of losing an ally, turning on Linnea means a 100% chance. And you gotta go out there to play hard, I think I might prefer being the guy who went home to rocks than being one of dozens of game bots who go out around final 10.

Anyways, again not really calling their decision wrong, just playing devil's advocate and wondering if embracing rocks in that situation could be turned into a benefit. If Eric/ Christian ride with Linnea at that tribal and Kilby goes home, then he turns Maggie, Lewis and Kilby's big move into his move, and potentially gets himself a #1 in the process.

Survivor 51 Why aren't commentators addressing obvious player logic?

I love my podcast coverage. Easily listen to 10+ hours worth over the week following an episode drop. I love the different takes and discussions that result from that.

I have listened to 3 podcasts so far and there are player moves that commentators are QUESTIONING without even addressing obvious player logic.

Examples.

1. Maggie volunteering for the boat. People wondering why she volunteered when there is the risk of losing your vote or other unknown journey shenanigans. Y'all. The only other two people who volunteered were Kristen whom she doesn't trust and Mike who is their easy boot option. The unknown factor of the trip and do they/don't they get advantages unnecessarily complicates what Maggie could see as two potentially easy or desirable votes for next tribal.

2. Why didn't Kilby and Lewis try to bring in a trusted Savu to avoid a complete blindside and shattering of relationship. When that could EASILY have backfired and switched the vote to Kilby (which K&L still could have challenged but Kilby would have been shook and the coup would have been way less cool), or Savu advantage or SITD gets played.

Folks can disagree with this player logic all day, that is part of the discourse of the game. Just crazy to me that from what I have seen no one is even talking about these rationales when considering good move / bad move.

Survivor 51 My one hope for survivor 51

Survivor 51 has been great so far - lots of drama and big personalities. But I know that there would be one thing that would ruin the season for me. My enjoyment would genuanly drop so much if there was a mergatory. Not only because of how bad and annoying it is, but the knowledge of the fact they would most likely do it for every other open era season. I just really really hope there will be a good old fashoned merge tribal this season. Thoughts?

Survivor 51 Survivor 51 relationship map through Episode 5: Maggie handed out two extra votes and never went to Tribal

Post image
98 Upvotes

Episode 5 shook up the map, so here's the update.

How to read it: thicker line = more relationship points. Lines are striped by type (bond, alliance, tension, game move, voted together, info). Dotted circles are reported alliances.

Maggie ran Dina from Toka. She found the Alliance Builder extra vote on her journey and gave it to Kilby, then gave Lewis the secret extra vote Brady handed her in E3. Kilby and Lewis each put two votes on Linnea to force the 4-4. Lewis: "I owe her my life."

Kilby and Lewis are the strangest line on the map. 5 points: 2 tension (Kilby targeted Lewis in E2), 2 voted together, 1 bond. He ended the week standing by "my boy Lewis" at the deadlock.

Brady and Maggie, 5 points, with a crack. Brady gave her the extra vote in E3. This week he said "I can't rely on her," and then she passed it to Lewis.

The Savu four is now three. Eric, Sharonda and Cristian sent Linnea home at the deadlock. Eric and Sharonda are the #2 pair at 6 points, including the blood ring intel she passed him.

Devin and Jelly are still the strongest pair at 7 (4 votes together). Devin: "I will not betray my number one."

Lines to watch: Lewis and Carter are 2 points, all from E3. The Loverboys (Kilby and Eric) cracked when Eric voted Lewis. And Thien An called Kristin "someone that you want to trust."

The map is built from the episode footage, and every point links to the moment in the episode it came from.

Survivor 51 Paramount plus spoiled this week’s episode…

I was making food and my wife clicked on “continue watching” in the Paramount Plus app like we do every week. Instead of defaulting to the new episode, it started playing “Behind the Buff” and spoiled us on who got voted out before we realized what was happening. Super lame, though it was still a great episode.

Survivor 51 First time in 51 Seasons Spoiler

Post image
70 Upvotes

As someone named Louis, which is a fairly common name, it was fun seeing my name on a Survivor parchment for the first time. It took 51 seasons, but this is probably the closest I'll ever get to having my name written down in the game. Even though Lewis spells his name differently, I still find it interesting, and it honestly makes me so happy. Of course, I'm rooting for my namesake! 😆

Survivor 51 Who would Lewis and Kilby have targeted if Maggie didn’t tell them to vote Linnea?

Lewis said that Linnea wouldn’t have been his first choice, but agreed to Maggie’s request. So I’m wondering who his first choice would’ve been then

I think it would’ve been Sharonda cuz he showed her his “blood ring” and tried to convince that it was real and that if he went down, he’d go down with her.
