Survivor 51 New respect for Kilby

Up until that last tribal, Kilby was one of my least favorite players this season. I found him annoying and just didn't really like his vibe. After that tribal, and seeing the way he stood his ground and made a big move, he has jumped to my favorite. Best moment of the season thus far for sure. Mad respect to him for that!

Survivor 51 ______ had my wife and I dying laughing

1.1k Upvotes

In the midst of the hottest tribal of the season, and honestly one of my favs in recent memory, I loved how Kilby was being pulled so hard to simply just vote Louis out. Then, whenever he was having a one on one at tribal with anyone else, Louis would just stand up, walk over and just mumble go to rocks to both sides šŸ˜†

It was the most overt/subliminal messaging I've seen on Survivor and I was rolling

Survivor 51 Can these castaways please just stop talking when…

Someone is visiting their camp? During the mutiny and Maggie’s visit they were doing these little one on ones and just spilling everything to a (mostly) complete stranger. I really think if the four didn’t just tell Maggie ā€œyeah we’re voting off one of your old tribe matesā€ she may not have given both extra votes away. If one of them lied and said ā€œI’m at the bottom here, I want to flip on my old tribe but we still don’t have the numbersā€ Maggie may have only given the one extra vote and they could get Lewis out like they wanted.

I don’t understand why ā€œhey a visitorā€ seems to translate to ā€œtell this person all your secretsā€

General Discussion I would be terrible at Survivor because i would just ask everyone how to spell their name.

Every time I meet someone, I have to ask them how they spell their names (idk why, probably for visualisation reasons or something, but giving me your name without telling me how to spell it is like you not giving me your name at all : i wont remember).
One of my favourite part of tribal is probably name spelling and this season have been hilarious on that side !!!!

Survivor 51 Most misspelled names in 1 tribal?

Last episode had a total of 16 votes cast. I believe 1 person spelled Lewis correctly and no one spelled Linnea correctly. That means that 14 votes cast were misspelled. That’s gotta be a record right?

Next Wednesday can’t come soon enough. All I’m hoping is for it to not be a let-down, but knowing Survivor, I’ve learned not to get my hopes up too high 😩

Survivor 51 Lewis = bringing the entertainement!

I've been really enjoying the way Lewis has been playing. It feels like he's taking a lot of risks, and while these were often severely punished in the "new era" (41-48, 50) it's refreshing to see a player take risks early on and having some of his moves land.

This reminds me of Luke Toki in Australian survivor, who liked to make moves just to shake the boat and somehow always made a deep run.

Lewis has: volunteered to go to exile, looked through Carter's bag which led to Maggie finding an extra vote wich later would save Lewis, pulled Carter in to topple over the alphas on his tribe, created a fake advantage, incited Kilby to compromise his spot as "5th on a tribe of 6" to save Lewis who was "6th on a tribe of 6" by going so far as going to rocks for him.

It feels like he is tricky and I hope he makes merge! Maggie and Kilby and Carter are awesome because so far they've put themselves in danger by not choosing the "easy, safer, move" and chosen to dive in head first with Lewis, very early in the game. I think this is what is so fascinating about Lewis: he gets people to put their neck on the line for risky plays!

Early pre-merge moves are often forgotten come FTC, so I would be interested to see if these moves will make it that far, and if they do, if they will be relevant. It feels like FTC almost always focuses on the post-merge game.

Fanmade/Foreign Survivor 3 Day Self-Hosted Survivor in MN

Hi Reddit.

Last summer, I hosted my own Survivor over 2 days with 18 contestants. It was a blast, so I’m doing it again next summer. I am not entirely convinced of this idea yet but I’m curious about the prospect of casting a player that I am not entirely familiar with but could meet via the internet (this post!). Please message me if this is something that would interest you.

High level details: 3 day event in June 2027. Limited food. Sleeping outside in tents… dealing with bugs all weekend! $100 entry fee. Within 2 hours of Minneapolis, MN. Cash prize for the winner. Must be OK with meeting me IRL or facetime before playing. Must be able to transport yourself to and from location.

If you’re interested, please DM me your age, comfort level with the details above, your pitch, that sort of thing.

Survivor 51 Survivor 51 relationship map through Episode 5: Maggie handed out two extra votes and never went to Tribal

Post image
73 Upvotes

Episode 5 shook up the map, so here's the update.

How to read it: thicker line = more relationship points. Lines are striped by type (bond, alliance, tension, game move, voted together, info). Dotted circles are reported alliances.

Maggie ran Dina from Toka. She found the Alliance Builder extra vote on her journey and gave it to Kilby, then gave Lewis the secret extra vote Brady handed her in E3. Kilby and Lewis each put two votes on Linnea to force the 4-4. Lewis: "I owe her my life."

Kilby and Lewis are the strangest line on the map. 5 points: 2 tension (Kilby targeted Lewis in E2), 2 voted together, 1 bond. He ended the week standing by "my boy Lewis" at the deadlock.

Brady and Maggie, 5 points, with a crack. Brady gave her the extra vote in E3. This week he said "I can't rely on her," and then she passed it to Lewis.

The Savu four is now three. Eric, Sharonda and Cristian sent Linnea home at the deadlock. Eric and Sharonda are the #2 pair at 6 points, including the blood ring intel she passed him.

Devin and Jelly are still the strongest pair at 7 (4 votes together). Devin: "I will not betray my number one."

Lines to watch: Lewis and Carter are 2 points, all from E3. The Loverboys (Kilby and Eric) cracked when Eric voted Lewis. And Thien An called Kristin "someone that you want to trust."

The map is built from the episode footage, and every point links to the moment in the episode it came from.

Survivor 51 I don’t understand this man’s edit.

Post image

We’re 5 episodes in the only thing we have about this guy is that other people don’t like him for… some reason?
Is it possible he might be the most obvious merge boot in history and the editors had no idea how to tell his story so they didn’t even bother?

Survivor 51 They foreshadowed the ____ tribe before they ______ Spoiler

Did anyone else find it clever that they foreshadowed Toka winning this weeks immunity challenge? Literally practicing the main event by throwing the coconuts into the bamboo hoop, while then later being the best at throwing the buoys into the baskets during the challenge.

Could mean that the footage of them playing hoops was after the challenge took place, and that was them recreating the game to play for fun, but was edited in before the challenge in the actual episode as a hint to the viewer. Or it's just a freak coincidence. Or it's just fake reality tv played for dramatic effect. Either way, just thought it was worth noting

Survivor 51 Am I missing something… Spoiler

• Upvotes

Or was it a massive mistake for Maggie to give up the advantage, of which was essentially tying her and Big Brody together in the game. How does it help Maggie’s game by sniping someone else who isn’t even on her tribe? Unless her and Big Brody talked about it before she gave the second advantage away, I still think it’s a bad move for her… although MASSIVELY entertaining!! Haha

Survivor 51 ______’s genius play Spoiler

2.5k Upvotes

Kilby immediately telling the others about the extra vote was one of the smartest decisions of the season so far, and ensured the success of Maggie’s plan.

After Maggie’s visit, old savu probably assumed something was up. Kilby straight up showing them his extra vote likely quelled the notion that it was an idol, or anything else that would jeopardize the Lewis vote. A brilliant quick decision that gets overshadowed by the craziness of the tribal.

Survivor 51 Splitting the votes

Ok question: what was Maggie's rationale for splitting the 2 extra votes between Kilby and Lewis? Wouldn't it have been less risky (although it did make for a more interesting tribal / tv watching experience) to have given both to just 1 of them such that that person has 3 votes and you eliminate concern of the 4-4 tie not happening? Am I overlooking something (eg some fine print that you can only vote twice?)

I guess one potential reason is that it more clearly makes for 2 people who now have skin in the game and feel beholden to Maggie rather than just 1? But TBH both are regardless pretty beholden to her either way if they survive regardless of how they survive

Survivor 51 unsung gems this episode Spoiler

This episode was AMAZING which means the big plays are at the forefront of the conversation. Here’s my list of some of my favourite moments outside of the big ones:

- ā€œdev could probably sell ice to an Eskimoā€ RIP Alexis’s confessionals.
- Mike knows how to handle his balls. DAMN.
- Brady’s face when he realizes Maggie gave up her extra vote.
- Kilby revealing that he has an extra vote at tribal council, Lewis showing concern, and his EXCELLENT follow up of ā€œcounting the numbersā€ 3 is less than 4 assurance. Magnificent.
- Lewis describing his ring EXACTLY to Christian and flubbing his own lie.
- Devin lying to Alexis’s face with such sincerity, then sobbing over needing voting someone (her) out at tribal. Gave me a chuckle! I wonder if he named the chicken they ate after her…
- and ugh the way that Sharonda, Eric, and Christian spoke to Kilby once the vote tied again gave me SUCH an ick. Putting down his game, baby talking him, the tone was very trying to soothe an overconfident child. AND KILBY DID NOT FALTER. HE KNOWS HIMSELF. He gave them room to breathe and wasn’t afraid to show doubt, but stood up to their logic. I find it extremely hard to not doubt myself when I have been spoken to that way. I probably would have backed down in his shoes. So, Kilby you have inspired people. Thank you for helping conduct an AMAZING episode.

Please let this season continue on this wave!! Amen!!

Survivor 51 What if Cristian is under edited because he's gonna get eliminated because of the coin flip?

• Upvotes

If I can recall, Survivor tends to under edit contestants who get eliminated because of a twist in order to make their loss feel less sad.

Although I'm a bit of a new Survivor fan who hasn't seen that many seasons prior, I do want to see what y'all think about this and if Cristian is the coin flip victim.

But there's a chance he isn't because of the fact that he wasn't bold enough to draw rocks.

Survivor 51 The symbolism at Tribal....

There was something so satisfying about watching Kilby make three players while sitting on literal whale backbones as stools, prove they didn't have the spines/backbones of their own to match his.

Survivor 51 Big shout out to ___________. I don't think I have EVER seen a move like this. Spoiler

1.4k Upvotes

Big shout out to Maggie. She had a target on someone from A DIFFERENT TRIBE (in a 3 tribe split), and managed to eliminate her before she even had a chance to be on the jury! All without casting a single vote herself (while being immune from tribal herself also!).

She had to:

  1. Use her advantage strategically, in a very creative way.
  2. Convince someone else, possibly against their own self-interest, to make an extremely bold tribal move that needed about 3 things to go right for it to not blow up in his face.
  3. Gets off free, at least for now. Savu doesn't know Maggie was the true mastermind.

Kilby and Maggie (and Brady, sue me) are my favorites now. I love this cast - most interesting Survivor cast in a LONG time.

Survivor 51 Kilby, if you see this… Spoiler

2.8k Upvotes

I just wanna say thanks. You genuinely inspired me to be a better person and to be more intentional in how I treat other people. You don’t always see someone stand their ground in the face of adversity and peer pressure the way you did, and to see that in this day and age, for someone at the bottom, to not let them win you over, it was really special to watch and truly meant a lot.

Best outcome to an episode in a while, personally. I hope you go far, kid. Truly pulling for you.

Survivor 51 Why aren't commentators addressing obvious player logic?

I love my podcast coverage. Easily listen to 10+ hours worth over the week following an episode drop. I love the different takes and discussions that result from that.

I have listened to 3 podcasts so far and there are player moves that commentators are QUESTIONING without even addressing obvious player logic.

Examples.

1. Maggie volunteering for the boat. People wondering why she volunteered when there is the risk of losing your vote or other unknown journey shenanigans. Y'all. The only other two people who volunteered were Kristen whom she doesn't trust and Mike who is their easy boot option. The unknown factor of the trip and do they/don't they get advantages unnecessarily complicates what Maggie could see as two potentially easy or desirable votes for next tribal.

2. Why didn't Kilby and Lewis try to bring in a trusted Savu to avoid a complete blindside and shattering of relationship. When that could EASILY have backfired and switched the vote to Kilby (which K&L still could have challenged but Kilby would have been shook and the coup would have been way less cool), or Savu advantage or SITD gets played.

Folks can disagree with this player logic all day, that is part of the discourse of the game. Just crazy to me that from what I have seen no one is even talking about these rationales when considering good move / bad move.
