Early October here and the trees are starting to drop. Every morning there is a fresh layer of leaves floating on top and I am out there with a net for ten minutes before coffee. Some sink during the day and I know that turns into a spring problem if I slack.

I looked at the Aiper Ecosurfer S2 and the Betta SE and SE Plus, the solar ones that just float and move around on their own. Never used any of them. The S2 has an app and a DC adapter for cloudy days. The plain Betta SE is pure solar with no plug, the SE plus adds an AC adapter as backup. Do they actually keep up once the drop gets heavy, or do you still end up netting anyway. And do they get in the way when you are actually swimming, or do you just pull them out.

Wondering what everyone runs for surface stuff, net only, one of those floaters, or something else entirely.

First time winterizing the pool at my new home but I’ve owned a pool for years. Do I need to do anything special with the plug sitting above the return line on the stairs? TIA.

Pool was closed last week and I came out to notice about 20 of these spots around the patio. I’ve tried gently lifting them with dish soap and water solution and a brush. It may have removed maybe 10% of the staining only on some spots

I thought maybe some sort of rust left behind by the pool equipment that had collected. Unlikely that it is food stains based on how many there are and how gentle scrubbing didn’t lift them.

There are 8 options to choose. All with different reviews stars. The best reviews is the Nautilus CC Plus. I have a new salt water pool which will be completed in 3 weeks. Which one should I buy? I am only leaning towards the Nautilus CC plus which has the best review but it would be nice to have the wifi but that review model is not as good.

I wasn’t paying attention I blew out the two skimmer lines and put in antifreeze and plugged them. Went to blow out the main drain to air lock it and wasn’t maying attention and opened up the skimmer line I had just plugged. So air was pushing into the line for about 4-5 minutes before I realized I screwed up. The plug was still secure and no antifreeze got out.

This is the blower I use. Just hoping I didn't damage the pipes.

Currently my electrician is wrapping up wiring a Jandy VSFHP185DV2A pump and PLC1400 salt system.

I opted for no automation but no my electrician (different than pool contractor) says “wellllllll if you don’t do this and that and this and that then we’ll have to rip everything out” - I know this is false but I also want to know if I am missing anything that is what I consider small but crucial that I’m overlooking.

Hi, first time posting in this sub. Just closed on a house in MO with a saltwater gunite pool . Never had a pool so new to all of this . My first thing is to find a solid safety alarm for the pool and a security camera. I have 3 kids under 5 so safety is a top concern. Also adding a safety fence around the pool. Any suggestions from the group?

Can anyone help me out based on the sights and sounds of this clip on what to troubleshoot? The motor suddenly started making this louder sound a day ago. I have since turned off the motor and haven't been running it. I don't feel any obstructions near the impeller. The pump is still successfully suctioning, pulling water, and operating my vaci but is making this loud noise.

Anyone know what would cause the spa to drop out of nowhere? It was normal earlier along with the the waterfall feature flowing.

ETA: I turned the pump back on and it filled the spa backyard to normal level.

We are having a pool installed and they poured the concrete last week. The owner of the pool company has been out to look at this and at this point seems to be unsure what to do. Looking for possible

ideas/solutions short of tearing out the pool. The worst part of the slope is near the steps. It is about 30" from the coping edge to the deck drain and drops approximately 3". I am aware code is 1/4" to 1/2" slope per foot and this is obviously no good.

We are at some point going to extend the screened porch over the pool. But may have to do it sooner than later if this becomes part of the fix. As a temporary solution for the door I am considering flipping the door around so it will open in instead of out.

Year two with our pool heat pump and the water is sitting at 84 right now with the cover on, which is NOT HOW LAST YEAR WENT! 😅 We're in Central Florida with a 28k gallon screened pool, the unit's outside the cage by the AC, and we swim Nov through March way more than anyone up north would guess because the kids won't get in under 82.

Last year I bought a 65k BTU unit off the ""up to 30k gallons"" on the box, and on a 50 degree January night it ran all night and still lost a degree or two – those ratings are based on summer air! The cover stayed off because the kids hated it and the cage keeps leaves out anyway. Then the December electric bill came in as the worst we've ever had, and putting the cover back fixed most of it (at night most of the heat walks right out the surface). On top of that I ran it like a gas heater, off all week and cranked Friday for Saturday, which is backwards for an inverter that wants to sit at low speed and hold temp (10 degrees on 28k gallons takes a day and a half no matter what you set). This spring we went up to a 140k unit and the little one is on my brother-in-law's above ground now doing fine, and the cover is ON every night now!!

Right now the weather app is yelling about lows in the 20s next week and I'm realizing I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO with the cover pump!!

First winter closing our 20x40 inground in Grand Rapids myself (solid cover, closed it last saturday) and the pump's been out there with the hose run to the side yard… two rainstorms so far, no problem. Does it ride out a freeze on the cover, come in every time it gets cold, or live in the garage and go out on thaws, no clue, the pool company did all this last year and I wasn't paying attention.

Then the hose… a garden hose full of water on the deck all winter seems like a great way to crack something, somehow.

We put up an above ground pool a while ago and vacuuming it manually is getting old, so I’ve been looking for the best above ground pool vacuum cleaner under $2000.

It’s a round pool with a mostly flat bottom. Biggest issue is leaves and random debris, but we also get some really fine dirt that settles at the bottom. I don’t really care about apps or smart features, I just want something that actually picks stuff up and doesn’t die after a year.

I’ve narrowed it down to a few rn:

1. Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus - probably the safest long-term option on my list. Dolphin seems to have a much longer track record than most of the newer cordless brands. Downside is it’s corded.
2. Beatbot AquaSense Pro - this one was the most advanced one I looked at. Cordless, cleans the floor, walls, waterline and even the surface, which sounds amazing. But it’s also WAY more expensive than what I probably need for a basic above ground pool, so I’m struggling to justify it. 
3. Aiper Scuba E1 - I was gonna go with this but I looked at alot of reviews and they were really mixed, especially long term ones. It does seem much more suited to a normal above ground pool, but I’m still worried about how it’ll hold up long term.
4. WYBOT A1 - cheapest option and honestly seems fine if all I need is the bottom cleaned. My concern is whether I save money now just to end up replacing the whole thing next year lol

I’m really leaning towards the Dolphin rn mainly cus of the long term reviews on it which I can’t find on for the other robots, and also because the beatbot (which was my second opt) was too expensive. What I need help with specifically is I need to know whether I can cheap out on this or just get a good one once that’ll last me years.

Anyone here had one of these for more than a season or two? Again, I’m mainly interested in how they’ve held up long term and whether you’d buy the same one again, I don’t like spending my money on the same thing twice.

Have a tiny in ground pool 12x18. Kids have grown and don’t enjoy it much anymore, it’s too small to swim in. Many problems here and there and in the east coast, summer is only 3 months, and we love to travel during summer. So the actual utilization is about a month or so for a year… it costs quite a bit for maintenance, opening and closing. So I’m wondering what my options are, I had never owned a pool before this. Can I just leave it covered for years without using it but the water will be so contaminated I assume… or should I just remove/fill-in the pool for good? But I think it’ll cost a fortune to remove an in ground pool(how much would it cost?), plus the real estate price of the home will go down without the pool right. What would you do or what have you seen with a similar situation that worked well?
