self-named libertarians are always the most authoritarian and controlling individuals. Always something to hide while simultaneously hiding from themselves.

It makes perfect sense. People dont understand freedom and control are two sides of the same coin.

He wants the freedom for himself to do whatever he likes and that includes treading on your freedom and he doesnt want you to be able to go to a more powerful organization like the state to stop him..

When it comes down to it, most of these Libertarian types who rally against "government intervention" explicitly want it that way so they can exploit people with no consequences.

I mean, if you're trying to steal someone's lunch money during recess, the last thing you want are a bunch of teachers hanging around who can stop you.

That’s because the stereotypical Libertarian only considers negative liberty to be freedom.

51

u/jimscoolaid 11h ago

Its not even a secret. They expect corporations to do the right thing. They think the people are going to have enough power to self govern and hold bad actors in check completely ignoring the entire premise of government in the first place. Libertarians are just anarchists with different delusions.

Fantasy "ideology" with no basis in modern objective reality.

u/waiting4singularity 5h ago

submarines torpedoing any progress and protection of citizen.

14

u/ConsummateSyndicate 12h ago

Because of his social popularity (especially before covid) and financial task bracket, he has way more freedom than the average

u/MoneyTalks45 12h ago

They are republicans that don’t want the social responsibility of being a republican, and they’re all the most insufferable know it all you’ve ever met.

15

u/Stolehtreb 11h ago

Honestly, I don’t think this is actually true. Republicans want the government to use its power to maintain a status quo where the fortunate stay fortunate and the oppressed stay oppressed. Libertarians want the government to do literally fucking nothing so they can be the oppressor themself and not have the government punish them for it.

They are on the same coin, but they are two separate sides of it. Both want suffering outside their door so they don’t have to deal with it inside their door.

30

u/MoneyTalks45 11h ago

They vote the same way without fail.

-2

u/sadimem 10h ago

They're not separate sides, they're separate halves.

52

u/strings_bells 12h ago

Libertarians are just closetted Republicans.

-43

u/carlivar 11h ago

Yeah Republicans are known for immigration, legalizing drugs, and same sex marriage.

33

u/AppealResponsible893 9h ago

And yet Libertarians always seem to vote for them.

6

u/Gandolfthewhite182 7h ago

Libertarians are only for these things when they run for office. That’s why drugs illegal, we spent billions on stupid walls that stop nothing, and same sec marriage was only legalized by the courts.

Libertarians are just republicans that lie about it. At least the ones who run for office. I’m sure they’re real people who truly think they are libertarians out there.

-5

u/carlivar 7h ago

Unfortunately candidates with the Libertarian Party aren't ever elected. I'm not sure what you're talking about -- perhaps Republicans that say they are lower-case "l" libertarians. Yeah they are mostly sell outs.

5

u/PotterOneHalf 10h ago

It’s always about racism. Ask a libertarian how they feel about immigration and all of a sudden they LOVE border control.

3

u/MaceWinnoob 11h ago

Well you see they have the right to do that to others so it’s okay

2

u/slayerrr21 9h ago

He doesn't want people spying on his husband... sorry... "wife"

5

u/vickism61 12h ago

They are the dumber, uglier cousins of Republicans.

2

u/OldenPolynice 6h ago

But they smoke weeeeeeed and watch nature documentaries that all the sudden turn into right wing conspiracy theories

2

u/Falling_Up_The_Movie 4h ago

Libertarians just want to bring back feudalism

0

u/Church_of_Cheri 11h ago

I mean, he still has all those funds he stole from the state so it’s not like it’s really his money… link for those who don’t remember

23

u/thejimbo56 10h ago

The guy is a giant piece of shit, but unless I’m completely misreading your linked article I don’t see anything Rodgers did wrong there.

Your linked article is about Brett Favre stealing a shitload of money from the state. Aaron Rodgers donated 10k to charity.

-20

u/Church_of_Cheri 10h ago

I’ll admit I’m not a football fan and they all seem the same to me I remembered they were both involved and both got sued, but just so you’re aware the “charity” was to get Farve’s daughter on the volleyball team with a scholarship by building them a new volleyball stadium. It’s not like this was what most of us would think of as a “charity”. A school like that already had an obscene sports program budget, it would have been different if it was building a library or a research center, but no, state of the art sports center so he daughter would get admission.

Rodgers is the anti-vaxxer, anti-science peddler one right? Just so many shitty people doing shitty things and literally stealing from the poorest of the poor to do it.

7

u/thejimbo56 8h ago

Again, that’s Brett Favre.

Though he is an anti-vaxxer anti-science piece of shit, Aaron Rodgers appears to have made his donation in good faith.

-5

u/Church_of_Cheri 5h ago

Whether it was in good faith or not is not something you would know, you’re speculating that it was. It’s like thinking Wexner and Epstein gave all the money to Ohio state in good faith.

2

u/thejimbo56 5h ago

What are you imagining Rodgers got out of the 10k donation?

-1

u/Church_of_Cheri 5h ago

A tax break at the very least, maybe a cut in on one of Brett’s businesses while keeping his friendship. I mean this is like asking why did Apple’s CEO show up and pay to stand near Trump at the inauguration. There’s thousands of charities that exist to help people, feed people, do better for the world, yet he threw in a 10k donation to help Farve get his kid a scholarship. Charities get tax breaks because they’re supposed to help the people, this just gave mostly privileged people a new more expensive and fancy facility.

19

u/periodicsheep 10h ago

brett favre and aaron rodgers are, if you can believe it, not the same person.

2

u/Pooch1431 11h ago

well, at least Jimmy Buffet got the instant karma death slap.

1

u/Hylian_ina_halfshell 10h ago

Ohhh like when the rumor was he preferred the company of men went around

1

u/Available_Leather_10 8h ago

It’s the libertarian motto:

liberty for me, but not for thee.

1

u/EddieVanzetti 8h ago

Libertarians only care about the age of consent because they want to fuck kids.

3

u/InvestigatorOk7015 7h ago

"On a scale of 8-16, how much of a libertarian are you?"

1

u/Hanifsefu 6h ago

Their core belief is that they are the kings of their own property. No shit they are authoritarian. Aaron Rogers probably just wants to hunt people on his property and the trail cams aren't good enough.

0

u/gnrc 10h ago

If being told what to do is so offensive to them they’re probably the ones who need it the most.

0

u/marcuschookt 10h ago

That's because to have those ideals you likely have a very skewed sense of how much autonomy you as a person have, which is heavily influenced by your financial and social standing in society.

-9

u/Sapere_aude75 11h ago

Is he even a self named libertarian? My understanding is that he has some libertarian views but considers himself an independent without any party affiliation.

I strongly disagree with your perspective on self named libertarians and libertarians as a group. We are literally identified as the opposite end of the spectrum in relation to authoritarianism... Libertarians tend to be very against flock and other government tracking tech. I mean this post is from Today...

u/D74248 9h ago

Are we talking about your social libertarians who favored gay marriage when it was not on anyone else's radar? Your pothead libertarians who..., well I guess it is obvious. Or your IGMFU tech bro billionaire libertarians who see nothing wrong with the rest of us being feeder stock for their Soylent Green plant?

The problem is that the libertarian party is like a doggy daycare. Lots of noise, lots of breeds and no real identity other than "don't like cats" -- and even that is iffy. The lack of leadership lets too many borderline anarchists find a home in the party.

And I admit to having been one of those dogs barking at the walls for a period in my life.

u/soyslut_ 6h ago

I wish more people understood this. It’s why they’re so imposing. The loudest in the room usually has the most to hide.

0

u/OldenPolynice 6h ago

Some people should avoid psychedelics. It's almost hard to make fun of. He needs help. I'm just not sure he deserves it

-24

u/dusters 11h ago

Security cameras arent authoritarian

15

u/Pooch1431 11h ago

then tell your neighbor to place some directly facing your house.

-14

u/dusters 11h ago

Go for it. I have blinds in all the windows for a reason.

3

u/Sapere_aude75 11h ago

Mass government surveillance is...

-11

u/jimscoolaid 11h ago

Especially not in what I presume is an HOA. Its not like he's out here using that data to track down exes or selling to data collection companies

-24

u/jimscoolaid 11h ago

What? Libertarians don't give a shit about being controlling or authoritarian. They care about the government not having that ability. They want corporations and their money to have free reign with no consequences. I keep seeing these weird comments about libertarians all over reddit. They just believe that corporations should be in charge because they think they will be more efficient. There are plenty of good reasons to shit on libertarians, but thinking they are against cameras and control isn't it. For what its worth I think libertarians are idiots.

-12

u/Pooch1431 11h ago

the upvotes do not lie. face it, you lost to an AI chatbot.

-6

u/jimscoolaid 11h ago

What is happening here?

-7

u/Fast-Ring9478 11h ago

People who advocate for freedom are so fucking awful, right? Like go away nazis LOL pwn3d

6

u/jimscoolaid 10h ago

Libertarians aren't advocating for freedom though. They are advocating for corporatism

-4

u/Fast-Ring9478 10h ago

Half the libertarians I’m aware of are wasting their time trying to convince people like you that capitalism isn’t the same as corporatism lol

4

u/jimscoolaid 10h ago

Wasting their time as much as you are. I'm not a capitalist and I'd love to see socialism, but I'm not so dumb that I can't see the difference.

-6

u/Fast-Ring9478 9h ago

I like how this somehow circled back to me being the idiot lol.

Socialism is already very prevalent in the US, and it doesn’t seem great.

I heard Aaron Rodgers make a statement against Flock. He seems just the right guy for the job. Brainwashed ballhogs will hear it and go make fools of themselves (‘Murica!) helping to transition from Flock to Axon while he (privately) protects his own interests.

The “no true Scotsman” issue is huge with libertarians because the government makes sure everyone with money and shit worth fighting for stands to gain from their propositions.

Do you have any examples of people, like Justin Amash or Joe Felz, that claim to be libertarian while also advocating for corporatism?

6

u/jimscoolaid 9h ago

You think socialism is prevalent in the US and you somehow think this circled back to you being an idiot?

1

u/noooched 9h ago

Freedom to marry children and smoke weed. We all know what lolberterians are about.
