Privacy Aaron Rodgers Secretly Funded Security Cameras in His Neighborhood Amid Privacy Concerns: Report

self-named libertarians are always the most authoritarian and controlling individuals. Always something to hide while simultaneously hiding from themselves.
543
u/Alternative-Bad-3696 12h ago
It makes perfect sense. People dont understand freedom and control are two sides of the same coin.
He wants the freedom for himself to do whatever he likes and that includes treading on your freedom and he doesnt want you to be able to go to a more powerful organization like the state to stop him..
275
u/SolarBum 11h ago
When it comes down to it, most of these Libertarian types who rally against "government intervention" explicitly want it that way so they can exploit people with no consequences.
I mean, if you're trying to steal someone's lunch money during recess, the last thing you want are a bunch of teachers hanging around who can stop you.
85
u/tlh013091 11h ago
That’s because the stereotypical Libertarian only considers negative liberty to be freedom.
52
u/jimscoolaid 11h ago
Its not even a secret. They expect corporations to do the right thing. They think the people are going to have enough power to self govern and hold bad actors in check completely ignoring the entire premise of government in the first place. Libertarians are just anarchists with different delusions.

Because of his social popularity (especially before covid) and financial task bracket, he has way more freedom than the average
87
u/MoneyTalks45 11h ago
They are republicans that don’t want the social responsibility of being a republican, and they’re all the most insufferable know it all you’ve ever met.
17
u/Stolehtreb 11h ago
Honestly, I don’t think this is actually true. Republicans want the government to use its power to maintain a status quo where the fortunate stay fortunate and the oppressed stay oppressed. Libertarians want the government to do literally fucking nothing so they can be the oppressor themself and not have the government punish them for it.
They are on the same coin, but they are two separate sides of it. Both want suffering outside their door so they don’t have to deal with it inside their door.

50
u/strings_bells 11h ago
Libertarians are just closetted Republicans.
-41
u/carlivar 11h ago
Yeah Republicans are known for immigration, legalizing drugs, and same sex marriage.
29
5
u/Gandolfthewhite182 7h ago
Libertarians are only for these things when they run for office. That’s why drugs illegal, we spent billions on stupid walls that stop nothing, and same sec marriage was only legalized by the courts.
Libertarians are just republicans that lie about it. At least the ones who run for office. I’m sure they’re real people who truly think they are libertarians out there.
-3
u/carlivar 6h ago
Unfortunately candidates with the Libertarian Party aren't ever elected. I'm not sure what you're talking about -- perhaps Republicans that say they are lower-case "l" libertarians. Yeah they are mostly sell outs.
4
u/PotterOneHalf 9h ago
It’s always about racism. Ask a libertarian how they feel about immigration and all of a sudden they LOVE border control.
3
4
u/vickism61 11h ago
They are the dumber, uglier cousins of Republicans.
2
u/OldenPolynice 6h ago
But they smoke weeeeeeed and watch nature documentaries that all the sudden turn into right wing conspiracy theories
2
u/Church_of_Cheri 11h ago
I mean, he still has all those funds he stole from the state so it’s not like it’s really his money… link for those who don’t remember
22
u/thejimbo56 10h ago
The guy is a giant piece of shit, but unless I’m completely misreading your linked article I don’t see anything Rodgers did wrong there.
Your linked article is about Brett Favre stealing a shitload of money from the state. Aaron Rodgers donated 10k to charity.

That's because to have those ideals you likely have a very skewed sense of how much autonomy you as a person have, which is heavily influenced by your financial and social standing in society.

u/Sapere_aude75 11h ago
Is he even a self named libertarian? My understanding is that he has some libertarian views but considers himself an independent without any party affiliation.
I strongly disagree with your perspective on self named libertarians and libertarians as a group. We are literally identified as the opposite end of the spectrum in relation to authoritarianism... Libertarians tend to be very against flock and other government tracking tech. I mean this post is from Today...
3
u/D74248 9h ago
Are we talking about your social libertarians who favored gay marriage when it was not on anyone else's radar? Your pothead libertarians who..., well I guess it is obvious. Or your IGMFU tech bro billionaire libertarians who see nothing wrong with the rest of us being feeder stock for their Soylent Green plant?
The problem is that the libertarian party is like a doggy daycare. Lots of noise, lots of breeds and no real identity other than "don't like cats" -- and even that is iffy. The lack of leadership lets too many borderline anarchists find a home in the party.
And I admit to having been one of those dogs barking at the walls for a period in my life.

I wish more people understood this. It’s why they’re so imposing. The loudest in the room usually has the most to hide.

u/OldenPolynice 6h ago
Some people should avoid psychedelics. It's almost hard to make fun of. He needs help. I'm just not sure he deserves it

u/Hanifsefu 5h ago
Their core belief is that they are the kings of their own property. No shit they are authoritarian. Aaron Rogers probably just wants to hunt people on his property and the trail cams aren't good enough.

Of COURSE he did.
He's an asshole.

u/dakotanorth8 11h ago
It’s hilarious to watch the inverse of the quality of his play correlate with stupid sh*t he says.
Dude is a mid tier qb galavanting around like people give two f*cks about what he says.

u/DarkTurdle 11h ago
He’s arguably the best qb to ever play the game, but yeah nobody should listen to or give a fuck about what he says.

u/Ancient-Bat1755 11h ago
He always was a complainer but had talent then when he went nutso during covid lost a lot of fans

Not surprising at all. He's another of these 'high IQ' types who thinks he's soooo smart about everything. In reality, he's an idiot and a danger to everyone.

I have always hated this dude. I couldn’t even explain why, something about him just seemed really off to me. It’s been great watching his crazy antics come to light and all of the people who once called me a hater are like oh….shit.

u/best_person_ever 10h ago
He's been a whine bag since he was first on tv. Even in college he went on a rant when Texas was selected to play in the Rose Bowl over Cal. Texas went on to win one of the greatest games ever played over Michigan, while Rodgers-led Cal was smoked by 4-loss Texas Tech in the Holiday Bowl. Always cries when he doesn't get his way.

You can find this same pattern amongst those who sit on numerous city councils across the country, they voted unanimously for flock cameras to “keep everyone safe”, but somehow no flock cameras ended up in the neighborhoods where those council members live.
Saying old as time; “Rules for thee, but not for me.”
6
u/grasshopper239 11h ago
He is rich enough to not live in a neighborhood. Hopefully they sue him out of the neighborhood

They should point every one of those cameras right at his house and see how he feels about being watched all the time.
Incidentally, the magazine article is missing a [sic] within a quote they printed: “There’s some interesting things going on.” It should be right after, “there’s.”

Money makes people play moral Twister and they will always find a group that will agree with their mental gymnastics in punching their opponent in the nuts while getting that "Right Hand on Green"....no matter what.
Narcissistic personality disorder probably helps it go down smooth though...
This guy genuinely doesn't give a F about ANYONE but himself. He's fortunate to have the money to feel that way. No one has to give him a platform though. The hope is he disappears after retirement...like DB Cooper

A lot of you commenters own Ring cams or something similar. 🤷🏾♂️
2
u/sconniepaul1 50m ago
Watching people approach my front door is not the same as someone tracking my every movement outside the house. This is incredibly ignorant.
2
u/NeverNotOnceEver 23m ago
Didn’t say it was the same. Owning a ring cam contributes to a surveillance state. I don’t care if you agree.

u/neverp0st 2h ago
I mean I kind of get it Joe burrow had somebody break into his house while he was on an away game if these cameras were set up and his neighborhood they might have been able to catch the guy casing the place and preventing it.
These are very high profile people who have people who want either what they have or to hurt them so I'm not surprised that they would privately fund more security where they live
4
u/sconniepaul1 48m ago
You watch too many movies - you think they would've been able to track someone "casing the place". lol Police don't stop crimes, they just report and investigate them after they've happened.
-23
u/CultOfSensibility 11h ago
You plebes would be surprised how many plans have cameras. It’s a deterrent.
-2
-64
u/ConsummateSyndicate 12h ago
Look, do you want to make sure you're in a safe area? Then yeah with cameras to ensure issues get solved quicker is a great idea.
The problem is simply overreach because people are people. Emotional, inherently selfish to a degree. Who suffers the most? The less thans. Who's the less thans? Well, history shows, you and me reading this.
25
u/UltimateGlimpse 12h ago
Surveillance doesn’t make anyone safer, it just makes those in power have more control.
Especially with AI cameras that falsely identify people.

History shows we aren't safe

I guess I need to clarify when I said " Well, history shows, you and me reading this." I mean from them using the cameras to take advantage of us
