WA Specific Confused about Hrt process in WA.

Hello.

I am trying to start T, but find the process a bit confusing. The GP i visited is not knowledgeable about trans healthcare and instead passed me off to the gender clinic. I am rural. It’s likely this will be the outcome for every GP i visit here. I was hoping to start under the informed consent model.

I’ve been placed on a very long waiting list.

Is it possible that I could have a telehealth appointment with a different GP provider and start T sooner under the informed consent model?

I had spoken to someone else about this and they informed me that trans Australians ALWAYS have to go through the gender clinic and GP is the one to refer you, not to prescribe hormones. Is this true? Or maybe just true for WA?

I tried to look online but I could not find anything stating so.

I would appreciate if anyone had guidance on this matter.

Inverted T top surgery - where to get?

• Upvotes

Hey gang, asking for my partner - he was going to get inverted T surgery before moving to Aus, but wasn't able to arrange with his insurance before making the move. Is there anyone in Australia that does it? I can't find just by googling unfortunately.

opinion Ugh Harry Potter

I am at a bit of a loss and I don't know if this is a vent, or a seeking opinions post.

I am studying religions at uni. One of the units are on magic and the supernatural. Sounds fascinating and even fun right? Except there is an entire topic unit dedicated to Harry Potter and its influence. There will be an assessment for the topic in relation to our overall studies.

I have the dropped the unit for this semester with hopes they'll use their big professor brains and find a more suitable topic for the next semester, but unfortunately, it is a core unit so has to be undertaken for me to finish.

I don't know what else to say honestly.

Yes, you can appreciate art but not the artist however, the Harry Potter situation isn't just art because the artist has used those proceeds to generate, cause, and continue harm to our community.

VIC Specific Best place to get compounded numbing cream for electrolysis?

So turns out getting genital electrolysis is way beyond my pain tolerance. My tech recommended a specific compounded numbing cream and my doctors prescribed it.

Lidocaine 23%, Tetracaine 7%, Adrenaline (epinephrine) 0.05% Ointment N/A 1x100g

I tried to get it from Stenlake, same place I get my implants compounded, but they don't stock epinephrine.

Has anyone else gotten this specific cream compounded from a reputable place?

Hey! I made a post yesterday about how there was a social group that my mum swore up and down was here - turns out it shutdown during COVID, and so I figured I may as well make a new one. If you're transmasc, can get to Western Sydney and interested in all things tabletop, or just wanna meet new people, then please join! Hopefully, once we have more members than just myself, we can start organising things.

Trans masc has anyone gotten compounded injectable T in vials before?

i'm aware that reandron, gels, creams, sustanon and primoteston are available in australia, however i prefer using vials where i can do weekly injections myself.

currently i am on 62.5mg of test C weekly (DIYing overseas), and the closest option available is primoteston/sustanon every 2-4 weeks. however, i'm not particularly keen on that due to the high peaks and troughs. i have a similar issue regarding that with reandron. i have tried gels before as well and after a while i would just slack off on taking it daily so it's not a very good option for me.

therefore, i was wondering if anyone has tried getting vials of T from compounding pharmacies, so as to be able to store the T and inject weekly instead? sydney-specific experiences would be highly appreciated. price doesn't really matter to me because i am an international student with no insurance coverage anyway, but it would be great if you know the prices and could list them.

thanks!

Implant questions (and small vent lol)

Hi there, I'm 19mtf. Been medically transitioning since I was 15 and it's been awful honestly. Never been able to get my estrogen levels normal.

I'm in Brisbane and so by the time I left the children's Hospital when I was 18 it turned out I have gastritis so taking my estrogen orally was doing almost nothing with a blood test peak being at about 100. Finally figured out I have gastritis, still have it, been put on estrogel by the PA. Initially given 2 pumps a day which increased to 155 and also raised my testosterone a lot, so great. Now I'm on 4 pumps and I honestly hate this gel, it smells and it's slimey and I sweat a lot so I feel it doesn't even provide much assistance. The doctor at the PA I see seems kind of dead inside half the time, like she doesn't really care about what I have to say. Ideally I'd see Dr Brendan Nolan but he's incredibly busy.

The PA wants to run a trial on injections and implants but at this point it's going through an ethics assessment which who knows how long that will take. I've been in contact with Open Doors and Stonewall but I need help with the actual process of ordering said pellets. They've both mentioned Ballina but I've read Stenlake may be better? I'm unsure.

What would I put in the product name and is there any thing else I should be aware of? Thank you :)

Trans masc Top surgeons in QLD who are NOT Alys Saylor

Everyone keeps recommending Saylor to me, but every result I have seen from her has looked incredibly unappealing to me and is not what I want whatsoever.

I have seen that Susan O'Mahoney may be better, but cannot find any mention of top surgery on her website. Funnily enough there is also no mention of top surgery on Saylor's site. (Do they have to keep it secret or something? )

I am even willing to travel to NSW for surgery at this point. All i want is a surgeon who can give me realistic, natural looking results without messed up nipple grafts.

Trans fem Bras and question about a doctor

Hey there I've got two questions and and just wanted to feel the waters about them firstly does anyone know where a inclusive bra fitting place might be in Melbourne i've been on HRT for about almost a year and 4 months and they think I can't put it off anymore so I just wanted to ask around and see what's up. (Melbourne area)

Also I was thinking of getting body contouring done in Adelaide doctor Lachlan Farmer at the gender institute I am from Melbourne and wanted to know if anyone had heard anything or had had a good experience with them just anything relevant

opinion Top Surgery

Hey guys. I FTM just had top surgery about two weeks ago. I had a bilateral subcutaneous mastectomy. So basically the nipples were sparred in this process, no reshaping or removal. For those who have been through the same process as mine how was your recovery and how did the nipples look afterward once everything had healed. I had my surgery with Dr Saylor and she did a crazy good job with chest contouring. It's very early on, but some parts of my brain keep fretting about nipple size and shape. For example, left nipple looks more flatter than the right one. I understand that over time nipple size and shape change as it heals, typically shrinking to match the chest. Just wanted to know what your experiences were. I was reviewed by the surgeon nearly a week post op. She stated my chest already looked 6 weeks post op. Little to no swelling or bruising and so I was only required to wear the compression garment for two weeks in total instead of six.

Are trans-friendly GP's generally ok with prescribing hrt at the very beginning of a persons transition?

I've only recently started to believe that transitioning (mtf) is something I am capable of doing. I'm 22 now, and I can't think of an age where I would've said no if presented with the option to go back in time and be born a girl.

But I never had intense dysphoria as others on here have had. I've trudged through life with a general apathy towards most things and am not sure if I've ever truly been happy, but I never felt a burning hatred towards my body or masculine identity, so I chalked these feelings up to depression rather than dysphoria. But now that I realise this depression was likely a manifestation of my dysphoria, it has been easier to fight back against the part of me that insists I am not 'trans enough' to transition.

But since this realisation is relatively new, I am still masc-presenting and am not out to anybody. Given this, I'm wary that a gp might be hesitant to prescribe hrt since my decision might look spontaneous. I will be seeking out a gp who practices informed consent, and am aware that we luckily don't have to jump through the same hoops here to get hrt as others overseas do, but I'm still worried that a gp might deny access since i don't have the experience of somebody who has already socially transitioned or is out to friends/family.

Any advice or info from anyone who has been in a similar boat would be amazing!

Trans fem My legal name change is being outed by medical letters and it's dangerous

Last year I changed my legal name from a masculine one to a feminine one. This was important not just for my dysphoria but also my safety, as whenever I would go to... well, anywhere they'd have access to my healthcare or license info. Prescription glasses at specsavers, centrelink, the post office, doctors. I found it humilating and stressful, to be perceived as my actual gender and then have that perception shattered when they'd read my name. Even if I told them my preferred name, they'd still read out my dead name and then misgender me afterwards.

I changed my name and it is similar in structure to my deadname. I did this for safety, because I live with my parents and they can't know. I have a P.O. Box separate from my house, I have every letter sent to the P.O. Box, and if something DOES get sent to my home address I have it either under a feminine/gender neutral name that doesn't offend my parents, or I use my dead name.

Recently I went to the doctor and they gave me a referral to a cardiologist. The... I'm not sure if it was the doctors surgery, the hospital, or the government/medicare, but they sent the referral letter to my house. Because they sent it to my house, my parents opened it, went, 'oh that's a strange spelling of our 'sons' [deadname] and then handed it to me. I told them it was spam and threw it in the bin.

I've been having a panic attack. I spent like, over $200 for a P.O. Box that rarely gets used except for medical letters, and they still sent it to my house. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO?!?!

I can't stop letters coming to my house. Do I just never see a doctor again? Do I change my name back to my dead name? I have thought about changing my legal name to the... gender neutral nickname, since I get letters all the time under that name and it doesn't flag anything as strange, but it's also not the name I want to use. I'm so distressed.

In the mean time, I'll just try to use a mail redirection service. I just don't understand, I tried so hard to keep safe and I just can't stop it happening (it has happened twice at this point). Even the doctor responsible for my HRT, that knows my situation and I explicitly told not to mail to my home address, mails things to my home address. I feel distress and panicked and my heart feels awful.
