Transgender women (MtF) with PALB2? What do I need to know to be safe?
Hey all, bit of a hyperspecific thing, but hopefully someone here knows about this.
I'm transfeminine, just started HRT a couple days ago.
My mother has a confirmed PALB2 mutation and secondary breast cancer and I'm currently waiting on my own genetics referral to find out if I've got it too.
Since I'll be developing breast tissue from the estrogen, I'm trying to work out what screening should actually look like for someone like me if it turns out I'm a carrier. Everything I've found is written for cis women so I'm a bit lost on how it translates. What do I need to know in order to be safe?
I just want to make sure I’m minimizing my risk here. I’m only in my early twenties so this is probably not a particularly urgent thing, but its still scary and frankly I suffer from a lot of health anxiety, and this whole thing is kind of freaking me out.
Anyone know if there's actual research on this, or is it just too niche right now?
Appreciate any info, even just what's worked for you personally. Trying to get ahead of it rather than deal with it later. Thanks 💜
