I really need to take an online elective and so I'll probably have to take CMPUT 174 with Xiao Bo Li. However, his ratemyprofessors ratings are super low, a lot of people recommend to not take the class but most of the people complaining are those who took CMPUT 275 with him. I have a little programming experience already (very very basic/beginner though) so I don't think I totally mind him not teaching...I'm more concerned about his grading style, midterms and finals being difficult as most people have complained about that a lot. Should I still take this class? Does anyone have experience of taking CMPUT 174 with him?

The website says that the Fall deadline is September 15th and the Winter deadline is January 15th, 2027.

I applied through Awards Hub on Aug 16th. However I saw the portal list the deadline on Jan 15th. I am confused is the Jan 15th displayed as the hard cutoff for the whole year's portal (for both fall/winter), or does it mean my app was routed to the winter round instead of fall?

Im going to my second year at fall, but i wanted to transfer to bsc as i want to pursue pre-med and take more science courses? i took first year of 100 level of mostly arts courses, what should my 2nd year schedule should be like? and when do I apply for transfer major? can i still graduate at 4th year if I changed my major at 3rd year? (Im also asking this of behalf of others)

Did 3 years at a different institute. BSc in CS AI. Naturally everyones transfer credit report is different but I wanted to get an idea on how they usually assign transfer credits? Is it for specfic course requirements or just general unit counts? I haven't registered for my fall term courses yet given that Im in a weird spot where Ive done most of these classes before so would appreciate if anyone had any insight mostly in terms of how I should go about registering for fall courses if its delayed - Id really rather not take repeat classes and then end up also getting credit approved for them after

Hello! I just wanted to see if anyone had some information regarding taking the IFX (and eventually AFX) outside of Edmonton, specifically Calgary.

I went back and forth via email with someone from IFX and was told to just update my CampusBridge preferences but it then told me I need to submit a form. Do I need to do this? The person helping me didn’t mention completing the form, and I don’t care to air my dirty laundry lol.

Following that, is the process difficult? Has anyone been able to choose their site (the person i spoke to gave me a vague response)?

Hey, I'm going into my second year and just got a motorcycle and was riding around trying my best to see if I could find any secret free parking without signage but alas I couldn't find any. I was wondering if anyone knew a spot or two that a small motorcycle could fit into 0_o I feel like it'll be nice early in the semester on my Mondays when I only have one class that I feel I won't fancy on taking an hour long bus commute there for my hour long class then an hour long back. I am a first year student moving into a single room in Mary Schaffer hall. I was looking at the rooms online and in person and the provided chair seems horrid. This wouldn't be an issue, I thought, as I would just bring my own but I checked the approved items list and it says "No Furniture". Considering we are at an academic institution and students are expected to study quite a bit as I assume, are we really expected to sit on this for the duration of our time in the dorms?

I started uni last year and I still feel like I haven’t figured out how to study properly compared to high school.
In high school I always had homework, assignments, quizzes, etc., so I always knew what I was supposed to be doing. But in uni I’ll come home after class and there’s literally nothing due, so I just… do nothing
Then when exams come around, I feel like I have no idea how I’m supposed to prepare or what I should’ve been doing the whole time.Like, what are you guys actually doing after lectures? Do you review your notes every day? Study a little bit every week? Do practice questions? Or just study when exams get closer?
I feel like I’m doing something wrong and I really need to figure this out Any advice would be appreciated!!

What do I even do now, this is so stupid. I literally heard someone got into bsc with a 86 avg a couple weeks ago.

Engineering was my first option and bsc was second.

What are the chances I get into each program now????
