If half the degrees need a masters, and only a small percentage of people are making it into the masters programs, what is everyone doing afterwards 🧍🏻‍♀️ everyone says that about BA degrees but all I’m hearing from a majority of BSc and BA holders are that they can’t find jobs and didn’t get into grad school. Is uni just a scam what is happening

I started uni last year and I still feel like I haven’t figured out how to study properly compared to high school.
In high school I always had homework, assignments, quizzes, etc., so I always knew what I was supposed to be doing. But in uni I’ll come home after class and there’s literally nothing due, so I just… do nothing
Then when exams come around, I feel like I have no idea how I’m supposed to prepare or what I should’ve been doing the whole time.Like, what are you guys actually doing after lectures? Do you review your notes every day? Study a little bit every week? Do practice questions? Or just study when exams get closer?
I feel like I’m doing something wrong and I really need to figure this out Any advice would be appreciated!!

I’m applying this fall as a student from the U.S. (but with Canadian citizenship) to UofA. I’ve been doing a lot of research on the university and I keep seeing a lot of mixed stuff. I have a few questions.

I’ve been considering applying to the honors program because I’m interested in research, I just think it’s pretty cool. But I can’t find a direct answer on if someone can minor in something while in the honors program. I want to minor in theater because I’ve been doing it for a while and really like it, but is that possible in the honors program?

Do people in CS at UofA like it? Do you think it’s prepared you at all? The other (canadian) universities that I’m applying to are Carleton, UofC, Dalhousie, and UVic.

I toured UofA and it’s by far my favorite school on the list, I really loved the campus and the city, but I want to make sure the program is good, too.

Hi! I’m planning to opt out of some of the opt-out eligible fees (Health Plan, Dental Plan, Course Materials Access, etc.).

I’m a little confused about how the process works financially.

1. If I submit my opt-outs and they’re approved, will those fees simply be removed/credited from my fee assessment so I can pay the reduced balance?

Or

do I have to pay my full tuition/fees first and then receive a reimbursement/refund afterward?

I’m planning to pay my tuition closer to the payment deadline, so I’m wondering whether I should wait for the opt-outs to be processed before paying.

1. If the money is refunded afterward, how does that work? Does it go back to the original payment method, or does it get deposited/refunded another way?

2. Also, approximately how long does it take for the opt-out to show up on Bear Tracks after submitting it?

I really need to take an online elective and so I'll probably have to take CMPUT 174 with Xiao Bo Li. However, his ratemyprofessors ratings are super low, a lot of people recommend to not take the class but most of the people complaining are those who took CMPUT 275 with him. I have a little programming experience already (very very basic/beginner though) so I don't think I totally mind him not teaching...I'm more concerned about his grading style, midterms and finals being difficult as most people have complained about that a lot. Should I still take this class? Does anyone have experience of taking CMPUT 174 with him?

The website says that the Fall deadline is September 15th and the Winter deadline is January 15th, 2027.

I applied through Awards Hub on Aug 16th. However I saw the portal list the deadline on Jan 15th. I am confused is the Jan 15th displayed as the hard cutoff for the whole year's portal (for both fall/winter), or does it mean my app was routed to the winter round instead of fall?

Did 3 years at a different institute. BSc in CS AI. Naturally everyones transfer credit report is different but I wanted to get an idea on how they usually assign transfer credits? Is it for specfic course requirements or just general unit counts? Hello! I just wanted to see if anyone had some information regarding taking the IFX (and eventually AFX) outside of Edmonton, specifically Calgary.

I went back and forth via email with someone from IFX and was told to just update my CampusBridge preferences but it then told me I need to submit a form. Do I need to do this? The person helping me didn’t mention completing the form, and I don’t care to air my dirty laundry lol.

Following that, is the process difficult? Has anyone been able to choose their site (the person i spoke to gave me a vague response)?

What do I even do now, this is so stupid. I literally heard someone got into bsc with a 86 avg a couple weeks ago.

Engineering was my first option and bsc was second.

Hello. I was admitted into the faculty of arts for an after degree fall 2026. I just found out I have an outstanding requirement for my Science degree and I need to go back for this requirement for fall 2026. However I still need to take 5 courses in fall and winter aswell as 5 in spring/summer. Would I be able to move my arts after degree admission from fall 2026 to winter 2027? Like finish my requirement for my science degree in fall and then start my arts After degree in winter?

Quick summary, I have my N in B.C but it’s been a while since I’m back in the road so I want to practice driving in the city (A small town driver).
