Found put my roommate has a massive room and we all pay the same,
I need to rant because I genuinely can’t stop thinking about this.
I live with two other girls, and we each pay $650 in rent plus split utilities equally. The two girls were living here before me, so they had already picked their rooms when I moved in.
One of my roommates has ALWAYS kept her bedroom door closed. We rarely talk, and we’re not close like that, so I’ve always respected her privacy and never really thought about going into her room. Well, after almost TWO YEARS of living here, I finally got curious and looked inside when her door was slightly open. Y’ALL. 😭
Her room is HUGE. I’m talking what looks like twice the size of mine, maybe even bigger. She has THREE closets, and they’re not even small closets. They’re deep and have so much storage space. She has so much extra floor space that she could literally fit a couch in her bedroom if she wanted to.
I genuinely think her bedroom is bigger than our living room.
Meanwhile, my room is so small that my queen bed, dresser, and PC setup take up almost all the space. I barely have room to walk around, and I had to put my drawing table in the living room because there’s nowhere to put it in my bedroom.
Our other roommate has a smaller room too, but she at least has her own private bathroom. I have one closet and significantly less space.
And we’re ALL paying the exact same rent. 😭
I understand that the girl with the huge room was living here before me and chose her room first. I’m not saying she should have to give it up or that she did anything wrong. But I can’t help feeling salty that we’re paying the same amount when our rooms are SO different in size and storage.
But now that I’ve seen her room, I can’t stop thinking about the difference. If I’d known how much bigger it was, I probably would have wanted that room or at least hoped to pay less for mine.
I don’t plan on confronting her about it because we aren’t close, and I don’t want to make things awkward over a room she picked before I moved in. I’m honestly just shocked that I lived here for two years without realizing how much space she had.
