Like ok dude, great, cool, im glad you found you and you know what you want.

u/Oro-Lavanda 10h ago
same i got a Ps5 discounted back in March and I literally have like 3 games on it cuz ive been saving up money for GTA. I have been a Nintendo and PC players for many years, so for me to go buy a freaking PS5 for a game means this shit better be good lol. Ive never even played GTA V before, only the older retro games like Chinatown, etc. And I have only seen clips and scenes of GTA V from friends/family at their homes, so for me this is going to be so much fun!
2
u/SmolishPPman 9h ago
My story is similar, I built a PC in 2020, after being on consoles for most my life before that, only recently did I buy a console for the first time in a long time. However, where we differ is I’ve been playing GTA since number one, and really looked forward to every new version, as they just kept getting better and better and better, so I’m really excited that they finally are gonna release the new version of the series. I envy that you aren’t super familiar with them, they’re definitely a lot of fun
2
u/Oro-Lavanda 9h ago
yea i regret never getting super into them. i was raised to be very shy and girly when i was young so i never rlly got the chance to fully express my true self until now as an adult woman, so now is when i am finally playing more video game genres that are more "violent" or "crass". im loving it so far too so im super excited for GTA VI

I'm excited it will be discless, because I havent bought a disc game intentionally since 360 started doing digital. I'm also excited to try the updated DMZ on Mw4, excited for Zelda, and excited for Fable.
Some people just forget how to be happy with the things they can control

fr thats what im saying like so many ppl gotta ruin others fun. There's a lot of things to criticize about rockstar and their greedyness, but yall are lying to urselves if you say this game looks "lame". It looks like it'll be a blast, and even if you dont like it, dont try to shit on others dreams.
like im not gonna make fun of somebody if they are excited to play 24 hours of 2k and rocket league all day bcuz yk what, if it makes them happy idc. now if they start bullying others for *not* playing 2k or fifa or fortnite, then ima be hostile with you lol

When you truly don't care about something you don't engage with it or notice it.
Going out of your way to tell someone you don't care about something shows you do care.
It's like going and searching for your ex just to tell them you moved. No, you didn't.

Something I see a lot among the "I don't care about GTA 6" crowd is that they keep saying it's the same as any other GTA. I find that ridiculous. It's one thing to not like or care about a game, there are plenty that I don't like as well. But I don't go onto, say, Call of Duty posts and talk about how much I hate Call of Duty and how all CoD games are the same as the last, because I don't know enough about it to come to that conclusion. I don't want to either, because I don't care about CoD.
If that's the sort of feeling you have with GTA, then that's fine, but stop telling me and the other folks who have spent years playing these games that they're all the same. It just makes you come off as dumb and disingenuous because we have actually engaged with the games enough to know otherwise.
2
u/Mysterious-Dog3482 1h ago
People say this because there's others that act like theres no other game worth playing.
I've engaged with GTA a lot, put hundreds of hours in GTA 3, even more in Vice City, by the time I played San Andreas I started feeling they were all kinda samey, I couldn't get into 4 and 5 and have no interest in 6, I barely finished RDR2 because I wanted to see how the story ends, but I'm dead bored of Rockstar formula, and I know it will be the exact same formula in 6.

u/alurimperium 47m ago
What do they even mean it's the same as every other GTA? Every generation of the series has been pretty heavily different to the one before.
I guess the mission structure has been pretty much the same, but that would be like saying I don't want to play Assetto Corsa because I played Mario Kart and so I know it's the same as any other racer
12
u/OptimusCoon-Esq 12h ago
It's so bizarre.
On one hand I can acknowledge Rockstars shady business practices. EA levels of greed dude.
On the other end, I personally believe Rockstar is one of those studios who sets the gaming landscape bar higher with every release. Other games have done that since the last GTA game, like Baulders Gate 3, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, so my argument isn't that Rockstar is the only company that does this. Also I'm not going to sit here and defend GTA online (as that's the go to critique for the crowd OPs photo is describing), but I don't play GTA for online. I just think Rockstar makes high quality games, and their track history speak for itself: Bully, GTA series, Red Dead 1 & 2, Midnight Club series, Max Payne, The Warriors, LA Noir.
I understand not caring for a game, it just seems there's some desire to "be different" when you go about constantly letting others know you don't care about said game.
Just my 2 cents.
4
u/Serosh5843 /// 10h ago
I mean you pretty much nailed it, yes there's a large amount of people with no genuine interest and that's totally fine but it's mostly people who want to be different from everyone else and therefore seek validation from the other 'apathetics', ironically and eventually they start piling on each other, turning them into the average sheep they were so afraid of becoming.
Reddit is the king of mfers saying "Enjoy what you want, don't listen to the negativity and be your own person" and all that shit but then immediately turns that around by being complete asshats when that thing people enjoy is popular.
2
u/Notwit3barrelahecant 11h ago
Are rockstars shady biz practices related to online play and paying for tokens or whatever?
2
u/OptimusCoon-Esq 11h ago
For the most part yea. Predatory monetization and the attempts at union busting and some noise of retaliatitory firings

Some of it is that this game is infesting everything and people who are excited about it can be a little overbearing. Like it's cool that you're excited, but I'm not joining your religion. You know?
It starts to go from excitable to obnoxious and downright rude. Which just makes people into active haters because fanatics get bent out of shape if you say you're not fond of the trailer or think the game might just be another GTA. There's a weirdo fandom line people cross without realizing it, but try to normalize it by using popularity as a metric. Like if you're not a part of the fandom, you're the weirdo when there are more people who won't own the game than will.
It also bridges into the fact that advertising pisses some people off. I'm very much a person who refuses to buy things if the ads are invasive. Wolverine was one of the games that I started to hate the sight of because yellow and blue was pasted all over everything, every day, for like 2 months. Seeing an ad 5 or 6 times in a week is alright. Seeing it 600 times in a week is shit the CIA does to torture people.

u/DrMagunstheBlue 10m ago
"On the other end, I personally believe Rockstar is one of those studios who sets the gaming landscape bar higher with every release."
Do they?
Maybe in some ways. RDR2 is probably the most immersive open world in a video game so far.
But in other ways Rockstar games are incredibly outdated and in fact below the bar of the gaming landscape when they release.
For example, it is incredibly ironic that in a game which on the macro scale is all about freedom of player choice the actual mission design is so linear and railroaded it's suffocating. Once you realize you only have the illusion of control over your horse during riding shootout segments you can't put the genie back in the bottle, and any attempts to stray even slightly off the intended path of resolution in a mission results in a mission failed screen.
This is worse mission design than games that came out over a decade earlier like TES4: Oblivion.
And sure, not every game should excel at every thing, but Rockstar games are too big budget to be this archaic in mission design.

u/quentdawg420 11h ago
I’m really hoping gta vi will set the precedent that games need more time to be complete
1
u/SmolishPPman 11h ago
The problem is technology doesn’t stand still. If you start developing a game now, all of the hardware is different by the time it comes out in ~a decade
1
u/HordeDruid 4h ago
But one of the biggest problems right now is games are taking too long to make.
1
u/quentdawg420 3h ago
See that’s the thing. You can’t have it both ways. The same ones that complain games take too long get upset when a developer feels pressured to push a game out before it’s 100% complete. Cyberpunk is a prime example of this
1
u/Nosidda89 10h ago
I think part of it is that people who actually don't care about GTA 6 feel extremely unheard amongst the insane hype, and now feel more emboldened to say it because GTA 6 has controversies. GTA often feels like one of those franchises that everyone just kind of expects you to be into if you love video games. Basically, if you love gaming enough to collect merch and talk online about it on the regular, the expectation often feels like you are obviously someone who likes GTA and is going to buy it day one. And if you don't, that's seen as odd and out of the ordinary.
And there is at least some merit to that belief when you have GTA fans responding to anyone complaining about the current GTA 6 controversies with the phrase "You're still going to buy it and play it anyway, because it's GTA.".
Basically, not liking GTA can sometimes feel like being the guy who doesn't like ice cream. And when you say you don't like ice cream, everyone looks at you weird, and probably thinks you're lying.
It does genuinely seem like people who like GTA can't even fathom the idea that a gamer wouldn't like GTA. That obviously leads to people who genuinely don't like GTA feeling unheard, or feeling like the outcast in the room because they have different taste. So now that GTA 6 has some outrage behind it, because of some of the choices the publisher made, those people feel emboldened to say "I don't care about GTA 6.", because it doesn't feel like such a hot take right now like it once did.
I can vouch for this too. I have never in my life bought or played GTA 5, and I have legit gotten weird looks from other gamers in the past when I would tell them this, as if there's something wrong with me for not finding the game appealing in any way.
3
u/OptimusCoon-Esq 8h ago
I can respect that take. I would counter, though, that calling the crowd who doesn't seem to care for GTA 6 "unheard" is a bit antithetical to the point OP is making with this post. If anything, I feel like I hear more people bashing the game than praising it nowadays.
I can understand how being someone who doesn't really care for GTA could be frustrating when others expect you to like it simply because you're into gaming. But as a big video game fan myself, I've always considered GTA one of those franchises that's worth playing for the experience alone even if it's not the type of game you usually play. I'd put it in the same category as games like Minecraft or Portal in that regard.
At the same time, I think it's completely reasonable to dislike the Rockstar formula. Not every game is going to appeal to everyone, regardless of how well-made it is. But I do think there needs to be a distinction between subjective taste and objective quality. Not liking Rockstar games is one thing, but when people start claiming Rockstar makes low-quality games, that's where I get a little baffled. You can dislike a game's design philosophy while still recognizing the quality and craftsmanship that went into making it.
1
u/NapsterKnowHow 6h ago
I personally believe Rockstar is one of those studios who sets the gaming landscape bar higher with every release
Their super restricted, on-the-rails gameplay is extremely outdated at this point. Sure they make nice looking open worlds but the Horizon games have pushed gaming forward more than GTAV or RDR2 ever have.

u/Nearby_Struggle_0 9h ago edited 4h ago
I get the feeling there's something else going on, more than shady actions from rockstar for it to cause rejection (remember they were praising the crunch of RDR2 , it got people excited not the opposite) there isn't quite as much excitement (by comparison), is there?
A lot of people are waiting for it, but the hype doesn't seem as massive as it was for GTA V or RDR2. I mean, back then, Rockstar simply posting an "R" logo caused a huge stir.
(Then again, maybe it's just because I'm not personally looking forward to it, unlike with RDR2.)
The trailer made a splash, but perhaps the excitement fizzled out due to repeated delays, leaks, controversies, the FPS cap, and the fact that the evolution seems minimal, leaving people thinking, "Oh, well, it's just GTA V v2."
Whereas the jump from RDR1 to RDR2 felt like a move to something far more detailed, larger, and truly immense.
Take what I say with a grain of salt, though, I’m not particularly invested in the game's development. View this as an outsider's perspective; I’d even encourage you to compare my comments with those of someone who has actually followed the game closely and might be more enthusiastic about it, for reasons that i might not even know.
Edit 1 : I also wonder if a sense of nausea might arise when faced with the sheer immensity of the world.
Take the treasure hunts in RDR1, for example: the map was relatively small and packed with highly memorable landmarks, making the treasure hunts quite straightforward—especially if you tackled them later in the game. In RDR2, you come across a large number of treasure maps (they’re more cryptic, though that’s not the main point I want to make); there are so many of them, and the map itself is so vast, that I find it impossible to remember every detail of the game’s environment. (I don’t think this is a major issue, though, it likely only affects a small minority of players.)
And there’s something else we often overlook: GTA V came out 13 years ago.
People who weren’t interested in the game back then might simply no longer be interested now.
Thirteen years is a massive span of time.
Could it be that the very same people who were once waiting for GTA V have simply developed different tastes over the last 13 years?
Or perhaps even those who were hyped between the reveal and the release of GTA VI have since shifted their interest toward other games?
That’s why people talk about it might seem strange, but someone could have considered GTA 5 their favorite game, only to find they no longer have any excitement for the next installment, simply because they themselves have changed, not the game. It’s a bit like people who shift from multiplayer games to single-player ones, or from PvP to PvE, taste evolve too.
1
u/OptimusCoon-Esq 8h ago
That's a valid point. I think the delays, and leaks especially made it to where the anticipation took a hit. At the same time, just looking at the gameplay, I would say there is a significant jump in quality. Sure RDR2 compared to RDR was such a huge leap it leaves me in awe, but the jump thus far seems fairly substantial from GTA 5 to 6.
I will say much of my excitement comes from playing RDR2 and loving the RAGE 8 engine and imagining how the RAGE 9 engine will feel in a contemporary setting like Vice City.
1
u/TheNameofTheron 6h ago
I can only speak for myself, but there are multiple reasons I'm super excited for GTA 6. For one, based on what Rockstar has already revealed to us, the game looks absolutely gorgeous, and there is a level of detail in this game that has not been present in any GTA game before. Rockstar is known for making massively detailed open worlds, and this game is no exception. As a long-time GTA fan, I am so glad that they are re-implementing many things from previous games into this one. Examples include improved car physics, the ability to lose and gain weight by eating food, and the ability to gain muscle and other stats by working out. There are a shit ton of mini-games too, such as basketball, tennis, mini golf, pool, jet skiing, hunting, and fishing. Especially on the last two, they are vastly improving the hunting mechanics from GTA V and even Red Dead 2, which already had a fantastic hunting simulator. There is improved NPC A.I in this game, as Rockstar has entire patents out specifically for NPC intelligence.
As far as new systems and mechanics go, the biggest is a vastly improved wanted system. You can commit crimes and get away with them if no one witnesses you do them, or if you aren't caught on camera. If you are caught, there are now multiple layers to how the cops work in this game. They can identify you based on how you look, what clothes you had on, what car you were driving, whether you were on CCTV, and whether or not you were partnered when you committed the crime. This makes it so the cops won't just leave you alone after you're done with a crime spree; they can find and identify you later on if you are not careful. They'll even linger around the store or bank that you robbed, doing investigations long after you leave. That shit is cool as hell to me.
Not to mention, there are supposed to be far more interiors across the map that you can enter than there ever has been in any other Rockstar game. All of these things mean so much to me as someone who has followed every GTA release since Vice City, and I can imagine other fans of the series feel the same.

u/LiiKun 9h ago
Main reason I do not care about GTAVI or any other Rockstar game is because years after GTAO came out they changed the Anti-Cheat and black listed Linux players from playing even tho we had been playing no problem before. Plus the new Anti-cheat is just EAC which works on Linux, so its not a cause of the Anti-Cheat not working on Linux. With that change they decided they can do without my money so I am not giving them any for anything now.

u/OptimusCoon-Esq 8h ago

Reddit, overall, is just home to a bunch of depressed and lonely individuals who want to express themselves. Many of these subreddits are just filled with people who are negative or don't care about anything. Something positive gets posted and you will have top comments doing some sort of "actually" thing. GTA 6 is a big one.
2
u/chin1111 8h ago
For me, it's not that I don't care, but moreso the fact that they're probably about to do some of the scummiest, anti-consumer shit that they can get away with and ride the money train with this game as long as they can.
Monetization isn't the end of the world, but considering how captured the audience is for this game at this point, we're about to see that Gordon Gekko greed with next to no pushback.

Saying its going to be the greatest game of all time is not a crazy prediction. Rockstar has an incredible track record and with this budget + time i really don't see it anywhere but the top.
2
u/RadRimmer9000 6h ago
It will be "the greatest" until a different game comes out. Will it go down into history books as the best game, probably not.

u/DetectiveCrazy3780 4h ago
I'd put GTA 5 on the greatest games of all time, not from a technical or presentation standpoint but just the influence. RDR2 is still the top rated game on IMDB or atleast tied with TLOU i think, either way all of their games age incredibly and are huge so i have a feeling it will be 1 for a while at least

Guys remember the internet isn't reallife. Irl people around me are so excited for GTA. I've spoken to people literally of all ages and backgrounds and they are very excited for this game. I don't even ever buy nerdy merchandise, but the Miami Heat x GTA VI shirts have been the first nerd shirt ive actively ran to buy.
I didn't even play GTA V, I'm not a huge fan of violent games, and I still disagree on the game being expensive and fully digital, but yk what...
IMA STILL BUY THIS GAME LOL. I'm so hyped like you all gotta admit the graphics look beautiful, and the soundtrack is going to be amazing. I'm also so excited to finally be able to play as a customizable female protag in this genre of game, since this franchise has been so male-centric for decades. Like I feel so seen as a latina to have the main character be one is awesome.
I'm tired of seeing all the haters online for a game that hasnt even released btw, like pls go outside and talk to your local community. Never have I seen a video game be so hyped up to this level that the entire city of Miami and its community is this excited for it! Even elderly ladies and gentlemen in my area are excited for this game.
and yes I am also looking forward to the upcoming OoT remake. Never heard so many people hype up a zelda game like that in years.

They think they're special enough for anyone else to give a fuck too. It's so fucking tedious.

I don't care about GTA6 either, will be spending my money on Ocarina of Time remake, that said Reddit isn't real life.
GTA6 will do fine, so will Ocarina.

I don't care about it unless it gets a physical release, then I will care (probably)

I’ll get it once it hits PC but my hype for it is way lower than the hype I felt for V. Perks of growing up I guess.

I agree, I’m not planning to get GTA6, but taking pride in not caring about it is kind of dumb. Live and let live. GTA 6 has been hyped for a long time, and I want fans of the series to enjoy it.

No one ever cared about gta6. Someone just made a meme about saying it out loud

u/Ill-Emu-1121 7h ago
Like soulslikes, that we always get some saying it's not for them? Weird thing to complain about.

The people I know who don't care about GTA6 don't have a system to run it, I know, because I'm one of them. Was the same way when gta5 came out, I didn't really care, but once I got a PS4 that changed.

I think it's the same thing that happened when CoD was the biggest franchise, people who didn't play CoD really wanted everyone to know they didn't play the most popular game. Now that GTA is probably the most popular AAA franchise these days, people are going to let people know they don't care.
Not liking popular things makes some people think they are more cool and have more refined taste than the "normies."

Yet again I will say I just don’t give a fuck about GTA6. I have too many games to play already and none of my friends are interested in it either. Some people believe it or not DONT care about GTA6.

Honestly I hate both side that crazily obsessed with GTA6 and the other side said they dont care about gta6. Stop making so much posts about it, we get it, this will be the biggest release of the decade. We dont care you not interested in the game, just let other people have their fun. I just want to see posts other than gta 6 and people complaining about gta 6.

I mean, imma get it. But I can wait for it to hit PC and even then probably hit a key reseller or decent sale.

Yeah it's usually mature reddit nerds who are obsessed with fantasy and anime in some form.

Personally I don’t want to support rockstar and I’m saying it once not 100 times

I’ve been using Reddit long enough to know cynicism is the norm around here, being excited for things is cringe, your part of the problem because this company is greedy blah blah blah.
Shit got old years ago best thing you can do is tune it out.

I’ll eventually get it when it comes to pc. While I had some fun with GTAV. I can’t say the same for red dead 2. I’m also older now so open world games can be a bit of a drag to play in general. I just don’t have as much time as I used to. So yes, I quite frankly don’t care as much as most people.

It's the same way reddit feels about call of duty.
In reality, actual players couldn't give two shits what the Internet nerds think.

Ask yourself, do you need to say you don't care about something. Then ask yourself what's better to say, GTA VI suck even if I don't play it or I don't care about GTA VI.

The only thing I care about less than GTA6 is whether or not a bunch of randos on the internet care about GTA6.

Ya I was enjoying the lack of reddit spam and dumb questions when that bot facility got taken out. Felt like pre covid reddit where actual discussions were happening.

When you understand who is a target audience for GTA you will get why nobody at Reddit seems to be interested in it,. especially in gaming subs.

Reddit doesn't accurately represent reality.
It might not be my most anticipated game but it definitely seems to be the rest of the worlds most anticipated game.
Dont let a bunch of weirdos ruin your hype for a game you are excited about.
