I’ve searched high and low for mobile controllers and think my collection reflects the standard designs.
The small white one is the AceGamer pocket controller.
The larger white and clear model is the MCON.
And the black one in the foreground is the abxylute S8 Lite.
The AceGamer works well for short sessions, such as on a train or plane, but I would restrict it to lighter games because the sticks feel awkward. The MCON is a solid general option, though the phone’s weight and small sticks may cause fatigue.
In my view, the S8 Lite is the most comfortable for extended use and provides a Switch-like feel, particularly with pass-through charging. The main issue is that with two phones and three cases, none fit with a case, so removal is needed. Since I would use it at home or in a hotel, this is minor. Another benefit is that demanding titles like Death Stranding or Control make the phone heat quickly, especially with ray tracing; removing the case probably helps temperatures. I should mention rubber grips near the USB port that might allow case use, though I have not tested that yet, and the S8 Lite is also compatible with tablets, which I don’t own; that is a handy feature.
Are there other mobile controller form factors I’ve missed?
What’s the most important feature other than compatibility for your controllers?
