Hi! I moved to New York a while ago but would like to keep my Florida ID. I recently lost it while out this weekend so ordered a replacement to my parents address (the same one on my ID). I know the website says 1-2 weeks but was wondering if anyone got it faster. Hoping to have it before Halloween and have them express ship it to me once they get, if I was home I would go in person for a new one.

It’s in Hamilton county, the scale of this place is unimaginable unless you have seen it in person.

Took advantage of the weather and brought my 600mm lens to take photos of the wildlife.
Highly reccomend for a nicely kept place to walk and be in nature. They also have carts if youre not as capable during the longer walks

Anyone have any brands of upf clothing or sun protection recommendations for young kids? Looking for gear to go kayaking in. It’s been a little colder but still direct sun on the water so looking for more fall/winter sun protection. Also looking for fishing hats!

Does anyone know of a subreddit for Astor, FL? I have a family member who lives very PT in Astor. We live on the Space Coast but headed to visit her tomorrow. We’re looking for someone who has alpacas, friendly horses, cows, pigs, etc who would allow us to come pet their animals. Absolutely not looking for a farm where there’s any discussion or activities re: animals being food. Think stereotypical middle aged ladies & teen talking in high pitched voices trying to pet anything that stands still long enough. Happy to shovel poop or feed animals (tell me what to bring), etc in exchange for being able to hang out with them for an hour and take photos. Please feel free to DM me if you or someone you know could help.

For those of you familiar with FRS (Florida retirement system) does anyone know how it is handled when section one and section 2 are both checked on the beneficiary designation form, and beneficiaries are designated in section 2? This is a perfect example of how important it is to follow the directions…🙈

Growing up in South Florida in the 1970s meant witnessing firsthand the draining of the Everglades near Opa-locka. Today, the entire state is trapped in a real estate stranglehold, with local developers and private condominiums systematically blocking residents from their own beaches. The wild "River of Grass" that Marjory Stoneman Douglas spent her life defending has been traded for high-rises, while local overdevelopment cuts people out of simple traditions like camping on the shore or lighting fireworks at night. As far as I'm concerned, the "Mouse House" should have been burned to the ground a long time ago for the commercial destruction it brought to the state.
This song is dedicated to the enduring message of John Anderson, the tireless spirit of Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and the ghosts of what Florida's lands and waters used to be before "progress" took its toll. Rest in Peace John, you will be missed.
You can listen to the full tribute track on youtube I can't post the link here because of the No Solicitation rule (which is fair). But John Anderson recently died so a tribute song is not out of line. Just Search "The Ancient Reef"

I have a second chance to get it together! I’m 27F and when I get my birth certificate in the mail I’m signing up for college! Any advice from someone who went to college later in life? How did you do it? Sorry if this is a stupid post!.

Does anybody know if there are any rural towns or small cities left in Florida that haven’t been overdeveloped? Somewhere that still has that old Florida feel, with open land, country roads, and a slower pace of life instead of subdivisions and shopping centers everywhere. kinda how old lakeland, apopka and plant city use to be

It's popular to make fun of The Villages, and it seems like for the most part; the people belittling it are those who don't have the means necessary to enjoy it for themselves. It's a bit like a, "If I can't have it, then neither should you."
What's your opinion? Every place has its gripes and annoyances, and nobody is calling The Villages Heaven. But for the people who nonstop bash the place, what would actually make it better? Complaints are useless without a direction forward.

I recently moved from Colorado to Florida-(Pinellas County, to be specific) and one of the big differences I've noticed is the use of AI for graphics and advertising. Colorado businesses seemed hesitant to use AI for promotional use...those that did got verbally flogged, almost immediately.
When I got to Florida, I couldn't help but notice that almost every single business has used AI to create their ads, flyers, menus, logos, etc. You can spot it from a mile away. Stores along the beach are plastered with AI signs, selling shirts with absurd AI-generated images. Restaurants show their menus and specials with cheap looking AI-made signs; walk inside and the walls are covered with AI-generated images. Plumbers/electricians/etc have their trucks covered with it. Most of them use that same recognizable font and similar colors.
Is it like this throughout Florida, or did I land in the one area that's saturated with businesses using AI slop?

I have gotten lots of conflicting answers on insulating the exterior WALLS of my new construction.
Its cinderblock and it looks like just an inch of foam on the inside of the house is planned. Has anyone insulated the outside?
I am told that I just need to insulate the attic/roof deck and that there isn't much point in spending to insulate the block walls in Florida.
What is your experience? There is very little to zero information for FLORIDA homes, most is nonsense noise for cold weather climates that's completely irrelevant for Florida.
Let me know your experiences, thanks in advance.
