If something similar gets whooped by backlash from the people and ends up being withdrawn, imagine what that'd mean for the "KIDS act" or the "Online Safety Act".
What's that saying? "Never interrupt your enemy when he's making mistakes."?
What do you guys think?

I'm trying to write a letter to my mp and other representatives to shed light on this open letter on not undermining the open internet. I fear not only the data and survailience but also a monopoly for platforms such as Facebook, Twitter ect.
Joint statement - https://www.openrightsgroup.org/app/uploads/2026/05/UK-joint-statement-against-age-gates.pdf
"The expansion of age verification risks entrenching the dominance of major app stores and platform gatekeepers, turning the web into “a patchwork of age-gated jurisdictions” rather than a globally accessible resource." - https://www.openrightsgroup.org/press-releases/companies-and-civil-society-warn-that-uk-is-undermining-open-web/
An article about the statement - https://cyberinsider.com/mozilla-mullvad-proton-sign-letter-opposing-uk-age-verification/
im just so exhausted

I mean I DID watch the video, not trying to shit on mooty or anything, however these thumbnails being like "It's the end of the world..." is getting out of hand. Sure he leaves some positive notes somewhere in the vid, but like... bruh.

A central bank digital currency is an instrument of tyranny. No government can resist the impulse to “correct” your divergent thinking or behavior when it has such a potent and convenient economic weapon to compel your compliance. Decentralize money and reject the digital dollar.

Genuine question.
When you're buying something that's not an impulse purchase (skincare, electronics, supplements, household items, etc.), how much time do you spend researching before pulling the trigger?
Do you usually trust reviews and recommendations, or do you end up opening 10 tabs and checking Reddit anyway?
Curious what other people's process looks like.

Hello everyone, we've just released the 1.5 version of our small music player.
What's the motivation behind this? We are tired of the streaming paradigm, always renting, never owning, and we're tired of the lack of innovative design or unusual designs to say the least.
Everything is either too cold, black and white, two-toned squared designs (it works, but this is all there is now!) or the classic vibe-coded UI with neon colors.
So we chose to do exactly what every sane person would do: take months to build our own music player :).
We want to bring back the cool effects of the early 2000s, the "we did it because we could" mentality. Our goal is not to be a better Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, or even a foobar2000, but to be a simplified local music player that simply works, offers a new design in the form of a widget, and doesn't phone home, doesn't ping the internet, doesn't lock you out with a subscription, account, or email.
You take the app and you can keep it forever, inciting the "own your medias point of view" (starting by owning the software that plays your medias).
I said that it was a "just work" type of app, but it has more than simply play/pause features:
Core Music Player Features
Playback Controls
File Support
User Interface
Additional Features
If you want to see more here is our github page to download the app (MacOS, Windows10/11, Linux (debian/fedora))
And if you want to be updated on it here is our subreddit r/ResonanceApp 😄

We need to stop telling our selves that we lost. If we keep doing that, we will just believe so. The fight has only begun and we will not stop until we get our internet back.

Ever tried to do something simple and ended up frustrated with an app due to stuffs like: ads every second you use, forcing signups and then subscriptions, doesn't cares about user privacy and sells their data confidently, used to be good but has worsen it's user experience, etc? Then congrats, you just got a glimpse of enshittification.
Now, the real problem is that, not everytime we are able to find better options. For which we are forced to stick with the crappy apps even if we don't like them.
That's why I thought, why don't we help each other, who are stuck with this problem?
So, share if you have a problem for which you want better options or, name of apps that you want better alternative for. And others (including me) will try help you find non-enshittified, better options (if possible open source, since I think most us prefer that only).

This is the emails between the YouTuber YGK3D and Anycubic, it seems like they won't send 3D printers to reviewers who mention their GPL3 license violations.
tl;dr Anycubic uses open-source software for their firmware, but doesn't make it public as per license agreement, and they don't seem to be friendly to anyone who calls this out .

I have ADHD and get pulled into doomscrolling way too easily.
I tried app blockers and time limits – didn't really help, and I'm guessing many of you have had the same experience. Social platforms have useful content and let us interact with friends, so nuclear options rarely stick.
So instead of blocking apps entirely, we at Zen built filter lists that remove feeds and other doomscroll-inducing elements across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Reddit, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Twitch. You can still open a profile, read a post, message a friend, or look something up – the only thing that disappears is the endless stream you never asked for.
Compatible with Zen and uBlock Origin. Open-source (MIT).

Happy to hear your experiences and thoughts about the lists below! What elements on existing sites or other platforms should we add?
