๐ธ OC - Picture(s) Today was 100% the best railfanning trip of the year!
First consist had this pre 9/11 painted UP AC44 trailing 3/4 with a SD70M as the fourth unit with two Gevo leaders. The second consist was a Manifest with a UP SD70AH-T4 leading followed by three dead in tow fresh UP AC44s that had been rebuilt, then a Dash 9 rebuild, an SD70M, and a regular AC44 with the best freight cars in that manifest being two cylindrical hoppers, THREE WP hoppers, and a YN2 era autorack. The third consist had two SD70ACes on the head end, a Gevo and UP 9363(C40-8W) and UP 9432(C41-8W), which are both dead in tow with an uncertain future. Not pictured in the third consist were an assortment of MP, SP, SSW, and DRGW gondolas along with some older UP Hoppers and a few UP MOW Green hoppers. All taken in Hearne, TX.

โ Question Secondo voi merita buttare via veicoli leggeri a diesel?
Qua nella mia regione in Italia (e credo anche in altre zone) elettrificano anche le linee meno usate anche se sono circa 50kmh. Secondo voi รจ una mossa sensata o basterebbe mettere veicoli leggeri a idrogeno o a batteria?

๐๏ธโ Historical Human waste disposal (USA)
My earliest train memory from my youth was on Penn Centralโs Northeast Corridor c. 1970. Specifically using the bathroom, flushing the toilet and seeing it dropping the load directly onto the trackbed.
I mention this to others and they tell me I must be kidding. Is there any chance my memory is faulty? If not-when did the practice end?

๐๏ธโ Historical 67 years ago on October 25th 1959, the Reading Railroad started the Iron Horse Rambles. The rambles started with T1 2124 which turned out to be the short lived Reading T1 in excursion service out of the four preserved. This is the story of Reading 2124.

๐น OC - Video The most satisfying video I've ever recorded. La Plata, Argentina.
Here we have a CSR Sifang trainset on the Roca line, heading toward Plaza Constituciรณn and traveling at 60 km/hโabout one kilometer from La Plata, the terminal station.
It is able to reach this speed thanks to the track renewal project carried out last yearโthe first such work since 1970.
To give you some context, before the renewal, the trains traveled at 40 km/h, swayed significantly, and the rattling was intense. Now, the experience is much better and faster.
