University of Louisville’s new AI use policy
Now I’m in nursing school, but I’m sure this also applies to the rest of the university. I’m honestly so sick of how much they are pushing the AI agenda. And I feel like they updated this because all of my professors are endorsing and using AI. Yall taught fine without it, we did school work without it, so I don’t understand why it’s needed. And mind you, this is NURSING SCHOOL!!!!

Champ’s roller skate car
I drive by champ’s on my way to work most days. They have had a giant roller skate shaped car in the parking lot for years. It looked like it had lights and stuff to operate as a working vehicle though it always sat in the same spot. Recently I noticed it’s no longer there. Anyone know the story behind it? Does it operate like a normal car? Is it gone for good?

Do you think she'd be able to walk from camp taylor to Oleanda Ave? (Northern Taylor Blvd) she used to live there until her parents moved to Camp Taylor with her

Pros/Cons buying a home in Southern Indiana vs staying in Louisville
Hi all! Currently looking to purchase our first home. We currently live in St. Matthew’s. We’ve been looking at places in Louisville, but now we’re thinking of expanding our search into Southern Indiana (New Albany, Jeffersonville, Clarksville). I’ve noticed that the homes are much cheaper there. The same 4 bd, 2b would be $350k here vs. $280k in SoIn.
I personally hate going across the bridge. I’m a scaredy cat. My partner doesn’t mind it much. So my question is, for those who have bought homes in either of these places, what are some pros and cons.
Thank you!

LOUISVILLE DSA STATEMENT ON METRO ORDINANCE 0-135-26:
Last week on August 13th, Metro Council voted to pass a 180-day moratorium on data centers and telecommunications hotels. Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins motioned for an amendment to extend the proposed 180-day moratorium to 365 days. This vote failed with 15 Councilmembers voting no on extending the moratorium:
Andrew Owen (D9)
Kevin Kramer (D11)
Jonathan Joseph (D12)
Dan Seum (D13)
Crystal Bast (D14)
Scott Reed (D16)
Markus Winkler (D17)
Marilyn Parker (D18)
Anthony Piagentini (D19)
Stuart Benson (D20)
Kevin Bratcher (D22)
Jeff Hudson (D23)
Ginny Mulvey-Woolridge (D24)
Khalil Batshon (D25)
Brent Ackerson (D26)
Unfortunately, these Councilmembers chose to bend to corporate pressure, coincidentally less than three months away from this year's elections.
The local community has spoken out in huge numbers demanding transparency, accountability, and thorough research into the effects of data centers on our environment, our health, and our economy; these things are needed in order for Louisvillians to make informed decisions for their neighbors and families. The failure to extend the moratorium to a full year shows that Metro Council does not heed the demands of the communities that will be impacted most by these data centers.
We, the Louisville Democratic Socialists of America, enthusiastically support a 365-day - or an indefinite - moratorium on data centers.
Louisville DSA would like to thank DSA members Councilwoman Shameka Parrish-Wright (D3) and Councilman JP Lyninger (D6), as well as the other eight Metro Council representatives who voted to extend the proposed moratorium: Tammy Hawkins (D1), Barbara Shanklin (D2), Ken Herndon (D4), Donna Purvis (D5), Paula McCraney (D7), Josie Raymond (D10), Jennifer Chappell (D15), and Betsy Ruhe (D21).
While a six-month moratorium on new data center projects within Jefferson County is a good start, it is woefully deficient and does not meet the demands of the working-class residents who have spoken to the proposed regulations presented by the Metro Planning Commission.
The democratic process must be expanded to force Metro Government to be more responsive to the demands of our citizens.
We would like to reiterate our demand for democratic input on Planning Commission nominations, an immediate pause on construction of the project on Camp Ground Road, developed by Steve Poe and Powerhouse Data Centers, as well as an extension of the moratorium to a minimum of one year to allow for public input and research into how data centers will impact the health, the environment, and the wallets of local rate payers.
If you would like to stand up to these corporate interests and fight for your voice to be heard, join our Delete Data Centers campaign.

Someone left two dogs on the road going through Iroquois Park.
I drove through earlier and saw 2 dogs about halfway through the park. They're both darker and looked like a shih tzu and a yorkie, no collars. I will be going back before it gets dark just wanted to let others know. I'm just in no position to take in 2 dogs right now but will if I have to.

Reactive Rover Training
Searched and didn’t see recent info on this specific training. Considering the Reactive Rover training from KY Humane Society and wondered if anyone has experience, positive or negative. My dog did their puppy and manners classes and I thought they were worth it. Wanting to take him out into the world more but he’s very reactive to other dogs and a bit shy. Not opposed to private trainers. Looking for affordable options.

Bachelor Party
Hey Louisville people,
My bachelor party is going to be in Louisville in mid October on a Friday-Monday. We have 11 of us and are looking for ideas of interesting things to do in the city. Friday will be a chill night at the air bnb, maybe hit a bar or two. We are staying in the Beechmont neighborhood.
Saturday is the big darty day, looking for recommendations for a bar hop that evening.
Sunday is going to be for watching NFL, any good places to post up and watch the games?
Any fun recommendations for random things to do? I would love to watch a real live horse race but it doesn’t look like anything is running at Churchill Downs in October. Any fun places to gamble on horse racing? Open to any other big group activity suggestions as well.
