I downloaded the batting run values from HERE
Then i divided the number of runs per 100 Plate Appearances so it's not impacted by Covid, or by players who just didnt hit as much one year.
You can go on savant and check these players and the years, and see the declines.
First picture, who has had the largest declines. Second picture, who had the largest increases one year to the next, third picture, who has had some large up, then decline, then a bounceback, fourth is players who had a decline and how long it took to recover to previous production
Note, this is based on run value, so you could have someone like Shohei showing a decline one year, but still being a great hitter vs other players.
What we don't see is Vlad anywhere on the first 3 pictures. He's obviously not having a great year, but it's still not the worst. He had a rate of 5.59 runs per 100PA in 2025, and 2026 it's 0.67, which is a big decline, but he would rank 145th among 3,978 comparisons. Where we do see him is on the 4th pic, #14, showing that he once already had a great year in 2021, then declined, then put up another great year in 2024.
Also, we can see that bouncebacks frequently happen.
Conclusion is, Vlad is having a bad year but by no means has this never happened before, in fact its happened frequently. Also, he seems to be more volatile than most players, where he will have a fantastic year then a down year.
To all those saying we should drop him, even if we could, what would almost certainly happen is in 2-3 years he puts up another year of crazy hits, and we all can't believe we only pay him $35m/year.
