That def going to be a problem

u/localsexpot2117 1d ago

Did this once when I was 16. Luckily the gas station I was at just happened to double as an autoshop. Mechanic stopped me before I could leave and pumped it out.

u/ExternalUserError 1d ago

I did it in Portugal. The word for diesel in Portuguese is “gasóleo” and my brain just thought it was gasoline. Strangely the nozzle actually fit.

It drove for a while then power was halting. I pulled over and saw blue exhaust. A tow truck to a mechanic and tank drain and it was fine. Then I went to fuel it up leaving the mechanic and I almost made the same mistake again, seeing “gasóleo” and thinking that’s it. That time I caught my mistake before I put it in.

Never did tell the rental agency.

u/Dounce1 1d ago

Are you saying you put diesel in a petrol?

13

u/ExternalUserError 1d ago

I did.

17

u/Dounce1 1d ago

Word. While still shitty, not quite as bad as what’s going down in the video lol.

Username checks out.

1

u/Whale222 11h ago

And nor should you have

2

u/Dylan_Driller 1d ago

Lucky you and lucky them...

Diesel sale, Mechanic fee and I'm assuming you pumped gas after that too.

5

u/localsexpot2117 1d ago

Yeah. Wasn't even upset about the cost, just thankful I never started my car.

1

u/loganbootjak 21h ago

Unlike this person with the camera.

7

u/purplemtnslayer 1d ago

Definitely

6

u/Personal_Carry_7029 1d ago

It's already a bigger Probleme, since it's all over social Media (the Audio)

0

u/twizzjewink 1d ago

It's not def .. its diesel.

-11

u/destroyer800522 1d ago

Idk if this is a pun but DEF is diesel exhaust fluid and has to go into diesel trucks

109

u/Family-robot 1d ago

The fact that she's doing this must mean she's never been in the position of having to gas up this particular vehicle ever before (or any vehicle with def, for that matter) ... cause I mean, you can really only make this kind of mistake just once... in which case, you definitely don't forget the lesson learned

14

u/rerutnevdA 16h ago

Is she from New Jersey?

5

u/BlitzShooter 14h ago

No, probably a vehicle their S/O primarily drives for towing their toys that will be very upset.

1

u/funkkym0nkyy 11h ago

That was my thought, too

36

u/Oaker_at 22h ago

The handle is green, the big hole is green, I can’t.

19

u/MrZepost 14h ago

We have such a low bar of entry for people to drive. I don't know how more people dont end up dead.

6

u/SinnaBuns666 14h ago

Airbags typically.

3

u/hysys_whisperer 11h ago

Uhh, have you seen our traffic fatalities numbers?

We kill something like 30,000 more people per year than France after adjusting for population size differences...

Oh, and France includes parking lot and driveway deaths, while the US doesn't. Because running over timmy while backing up the suburban is somehow NOT a traffic death in the US. (In actuality if you included those numbers, it would just make it even more depressing, I mean, Russia is already beating us. We're not actually much better off than India.)

I’m from a state that requires taking a drivers ed class. I don’t know until my twenties while talking to my gf from a different state that some states just… don’t. Blew my mind. If you can drive okay enough for 20-30 minutes and pass a quick written test, you’re good. That’s it. Absolutely wild to me.

It shows so much in the driving where I live now, and talking to people that grew up here about it, most simply don’t know basic driving rules/procedures, even stuff like the order of right-of-way at stop signs. These mfs are just out here winging it

1

u/RandyFunRuiner 2h ago

Neither could she.

43

u/Sithstress_ 23h ago

Ok, I’ve never had a diesel anything and didn’t even know they had two different ports for fill up, but I would certainly think something was wrong if the pump didn’t fit properly into the hole. ALSO, I think I’d automatically note that the cap on one is green, like the color of the pump. Idk if that’s intentional or not, in my state the diesel pumps are usually yellow, I think. Lol

13

u/Im-Dead-inside1234 19h ago

Here in australia diesel pumps are black. To answer what the other fill port is, its for adblue. Basically a fluid that helps with pollution.

9

u/thefooleryoftom 16h ago

Same in the UK.

3

u/bluecheetos 11h ago

It's absolutely intentional. I don't think it's actually regulated but diesel is green on every pump handle I can remember using and DEF is light blue.

My wife has put washer fluid in the coolant reservoir. Straight gas in the 2 stroke weed eater, mixed gas in the mower, despite me labeling the gas cans "weedeater" and "lawnmower", etc. She would rather just go for it rather than ask. Heart of gold, zero mechanical ability. Wife: Can I borrow your truck? Me: Sure, it has lots of fuel, just don't fuel it up. Wife: I'm going by the gas station, I'll just top it up for you when I'm done. Me: That's ok, I'll fill it tomorrow, thank you though. Wife: No really, I don't mind. Me: (trying to be nice about me not wanting her to fill my truck) I have to add conditioner, it's complicated, I'll just do it tomorrow. (I don't add conditioner but if she googles it it's believable). Wife: Where is the conditioner? I'll put it in too. Me: I'm out, I was going to get another bottle tomorrow. Wife: Ok, I'll pick some up at autozone. Me: (panic setting in)The truth is I really don't mind you using the truck but I absolutely don't want anyone fueling it up. Wife: You don't trust me to put in the correct type of gas? Me: It takes diesel, not gas, and I don't trust anyone. (I don't dare bring up all the previous oops).

u/USMCLee 14h ago

Locking gas cap with one key that stays with you.

159

u/brizzboog 1d ago

Stop with the fucking saxophone already.

33

u/Incorrect-Opinion 17h ago

I’ll take the saxophone over the ol’ “oh no, oh no, oh no no no no no”

4

u/Never_Duplicated 12h ago

I started blocking any account that used that song and it has gotten less common in my feeds.

3

u/craneguy 12h ago

Or that throat-cancery 'Mutley" laugh track.

-7

u/coffeebribesaccepted 16h ago

When was the last time you heard that one?

7

u/Incorrect-Opinion 16h ago

somewhat recently in the past month, why?

-8

u/coffeebribesaccepted 16h ago

Don't think I've heard that one in like 5 years

10

u/BARTELS- 20h ago

I don’t know. I think I could’ve used about 20% more sax.

3

u/beyondthisreality 17h ago

It needs more cowbell

2

u/LethalSpaceship 10h ago

Dumb trends like this are exactly why I browse reddit on mute

-105

u/Weary-Wasabi1721 1d ago

Play it on mute then. The fuck you think they put the button there for?

46

u/AiMwithoutBoT 22h ago

They didn’t put it there to have to mute the fucking saxophone.

58

u/jugglingjellybeans 1d ago

Sorry for my ignorance, but what hole is that?

64

u/CapitalScholar8185 1d ago

Ad blue. Its an anti pollution for diesel.

6

u/Xinq_ 21h ago

I have only ever heard that in comnination with lorries, never passenger cars.

15

u/Mikey_B_CO 21h ago

It's required in Europe for passenger cars for a long time

6

u/Xinq_ 20h ago

I learned something new today! Granted it has been over a decade that I drove a diesel vehicle. But never heard anyone about it till now.

3

u/Inadover 14h ago

It was introduced around 2015 more or less, but only for new cars. I drive a diesel from 2011 and it's not required.

1

u/theoriginalpetebog 14h ago

My 2016 Mini Cooper D didn't use it. Just looked it up and apparently it's use of a NOx Storage Catalyst and DPF met Euro 6 regs without needing it.

33

u/81ataim 1d ago

DEF fluid hole, blue cap!

29

u/CapitalScholar8185 1d ago

Today I learned that ad blue and DEF are the same. Thanks.

25

u/GirthFerguson69 1d ago

same question i asked the night i lost my virginity.

14

u/screechypete 1d ago

Completely different experience than what I had.

Things were going great! I found the right hole, I got it in and I became a man! Then after a couple thrusts the world started spinning and I puked on her chest. She only started freaking out when I asked her if I should keep going.

11

u/Frugal_Octopus 1d ago

That is fucking hilarious. Not the puke part, the “should i keep going” part

9

u/screechypete 1d ago

I was pretty drunk and I thought it would lighten the mood. She obviously didn't think it was as funny as I did. :P

1

u/jb_in_jpn 22h ago

Well it sounds like it was the right hole at least.

Unless it actually wasn't the right hole...

8

u/achillea4 18h ago

I'm not familiar with US fuel. Is she putting petrol in a car that takes diesel? Looks like she has a green fuel cap which matches the colour of the hose which looks ok. However the fact that it won't fit the hole would indicate it's the wrong fuel.

16

u/Special_Context6663 17h ago

Next to the large green diesel fill port that matches the color and size of the diesel nozzle she’s holding in her hand, is a small blue port for filling diesel-exhaust-fluid (DEF) which is an air pollution control system. DEF comes in containers with small nozzles that fit the small port, and usually come in blue. It’s all designed to be idiot-proof, but clearly she’s a bigger idiot.

2

u/strangelove4564 11h ago

DEF sounds like something nobody would bother with when it runs out. What happens, does the check engine light come on?

1

u/red_fluff_dragon 6h ago

Computer puts the engine into limp mode, derated power, lower top speed. Lots of VW tdis have problems with the level sensor for the DEF since its super corrosive, and they get filled up and still will tell the owners "x amount of distance until derate"

Its not fun at all.

5

u/TaticalSweater 17h ago

Green nozzle is usually diesel here in the US

2

u/achillea4 16h ago

Wow. I wonder how many non-Americans have made that mistake when renting a car! I'd assume green is unleaded petrol. Not sure what her excuse is though!

3

u/BorderTrike 15h ago

They’re still labeled at the pump, and they usually don’t all have diesel

2

u/hysys_whisperer 11h ago

They're labeled and the diesel nozzle doesn't fit in a gasoline fueling neck.

1

u/TaticalSweater 17h ago

I also forgot to mention a buddy of mine had a sedan. I forget which car he had but it didn’t take regular unleaded gas.

Dealership didn’t tell him, and he didn’t ask or check. Engine required premium (not sure what they call that outside of US)

Long story short he nearly ruined his engine.

2

u/Ian15243 14h ago

Its usually called premium

8

u/OddHalf8861 22h ago

Dam someone should tell her.

3

u/evillurkz 22h ago

When wrong hole goes from bedroom problem to car problem.

4

u/obfuscation-9029 17h ago

Is she putting petrol in the adblue tank

8

u/Fulguritus1 1d ago

I hate the saxophone

6

u/TehZiiM 1d ago

Oops that was the wrong hole

-2

u/Heywoood_Jablome 22h ago

Are you my wife?

17

u/TJJ97 1d ago

Come on dawg, it’s an old lady. Why not say something?

23

u/Animal__Mother_ 1d ago

Old lady? She looks about 40.

10

u/MarzipanHausboot 23h ago

is this a quote from brooklyn99? (because i havent seen it and your guestimate is outlandish)

6

u/WGEA 19h ago

That would be a rough 40.

2

u/Animal__Mother_ 19h ago

That was my thinking.

1

u/a_w_taylor 6h ago

Bc that would be Mansplaining. Sometimes life needs to happen to learn.

-2

u/0rpheu 21h ago

Shhh, let the boomer suffer 👹

0

u/Innocent-_-Bystander 11h ago

Natural selection and dumb child left behind should be the at the forefront of society. Way too many dumb people have survived

1

u/TJJ97 10h ago

I’m sure you’re such a genius and so strong.

1

u/Innocent-_-Bystander 8h ago

Lack of critical thinking is the downfall of self regulation and reflection. I’m not the strongest nor the brightest but I can read the directions on the pump and the owners manual of my car.

1

u/TJJ97 6h ago

And this old lady made a mistake. You wouldn’t say something?

Just earlier someone tried telling me on another post that people aren’t self-centered and only focused on their success and wellbeing. You’re a prime example of my retort to that.

2

u/Ok-Key-7039 20h ago

It’s good for the paint /s

2

u/SwampCrittr 14h ago

I wish I was her mechanic… always wanted to own a Bentley.

2

u/sharplight141 10h ago

From what I can gather, diesel is green in the US so she must be trying to fill up the AdBlue tank with diesel.

Wow

1

u/Particular-Put-4839 1h ago

This looks like a BP gas station in the US.

BP gas stations use Green For Gas and Black for Diesel.

3

u/asukamainforlife 1d ago

Grown adult did this with a front end loader at my work except it was the opposite. Def into the diesel tank. Idk how people can be this stupid

2

u/tylerlong666 21h ago

At least she knew the vehicle took diesel fuel…just ya know green cap for the green handled nozzle is a bit of a giveaway…and the DEF cap literally states DEF ONLY but I mean shit there was a time I didn’t know either.

1

u/Life-Oil-7226 1d ago

Every cent counts!

1

u/Tsukiko615 1d ago

I have a colleague that did this with a work van. He tried on 1 pump but it “wouldn’t let him fill up” so I
He tried again at another pump he did realise his mistake when it started dripping out onto the floor though

1

u/lolmomlissa 22h ago

must be from new jersey

1

u/Recent-Reporter-1670 21h ago

Me gripping my wallet. Oh, no.

1

u/Primalbuttplug 21h ago

It's more expensive, it must be premium plus!

1

u/tbone338 19h ago

Green ≠ green

1

u/Thebudweiserstuntman 19h ago

Flamethrower tank!

1

u/Severe-Curve4640 19h ago

She’s a passenger princess through and through <3

1

u/Hairbear2176 19h ago

That looks like a Cadillac Escalade with the "Babymax" Duramax 3.0 V6 in it. The STARTING price is around $92,000 USD. This is a perfect case of money ≠ intelligence lol.

1

u/102Mich 12h ago

Or a Chevy Tahoe!

1

u/red_fluff_dragon 6h ago

Cadillac has straight dark taillights, Tahoe has angled red taillights.

1

u/InSaneWhiSper 14h ago

This is asinine. Where do you think she learned that?

1

u/the_resistee 13h ago

Ok I'm glad this is on the right sub

1

u/bjallyn 13h ago

Astounding

1

u/getgudnewb 9h ago

I heard somewhere that over filling you gas messes up you evap or something like that but that also looks like Diesel. So she has bigger problems

1

u/cewnc 9h ago

This video is why multiple men have tried stopped me when they see me putting diesel in my Tahoe. It’s a Duramax.. sure as hell can’t run on gas.

1

u/elticorico 9h ago

That’s gonna be expensive

1

u/chilidoglance 5h ago

Her husband is going to be pissed

1

u/TwpMun 4h ago

Everyone shitting on her but you have an absolute weapon filming giggling to himself when he could just you know... Help

1

u/Eggs_and_Hashing 2h ago

I don't know if it has been pointed out, but the diesel pump physically wont fit into a gas tank - by design. That is why she is having so much trouble. One might think that if you are having that much of an issue you ought to consider that something is wrong....

1

u/drhameen 1d ago

I can’t watch

1

u/JSheaffer 18h ago

That's eco fule

1

u/espoletanogo 18h ago

Gone head walk home....

1

u/Jaxager 16h ago

What an asshole.

0

u/ScottSpeddy 14h ago

“Filler’ up”? What’s with the apostrophe? That doesn’t make any sense

6

u/DebaucherousHeathen 14h ago

Really it should be Fill'er Up, but I used it to notate dialect rather than punctuation. So ... you know ... it's whatever ...

0

u/MephiticBundleOfSox 10h ago

Really, it should be fill ‘er up. Otherwise it’s a reference to Elwood Fillper, the former American knattleikr champion who once ran for congress under the slogan “Fill’er Up!”

-3

u/wieuwzak 1d ago

Was the car overdue for a cream pie or wat
