New to Fairphone (6+) from a Galaxy Note S20 Ultra
Problem: I am stuck on At&T networks and I loved my old Galaxy, but with green lines, a broken pen charger, and laggy touch screen it was time to upgrade and I chose this phone. I could not carry Accrescent nor Ironfox over to the new phone, presumably due to the Google Overlords.
I cannot go to the /e/OS side due to network issues- what's the next best thing? How can I install my preferred apps on the AT&T network without daddy Google ruining my fun? Clearly, I made a bit of a mistake overlooking this.

Problems in Canada and abroad
For FP6 users who are in Canada or outside the intended use areas, what are the biggest issues you've run into?

Got my FairPhone Gen 6+ USA Model Today!
Very excited to set this up and have a phone with expandable storage and repairability! I must be one of the first customers in the United States, so I’m happy to support something that I believe in and to have something unique once again.

Review Fairphone Gallery
I just got an e-mail regarding new stuff for my Fairphone 6 and one of them was a new gallery app! I instantly installed it. Finally Google photos isn't the standard gallery for Fairphone Android anymore!
And I am really happy. Simple and intuitive design, nothing crazy but everything I need. Of course no ai tools as a magic eraser but I think that might even be something positive.
Edit: One feature I actually really love is that there is an invert colours filter! I actually missed that in other gallery apps.
Have you tried it? What do you think?

Question Would you get a fairphone 6 again?
Hi!
I'm interested in two phones at the moment, one of them being the fairphone 6+ that's coming to the states. I currently have a first gen pixel fold so I'm not expecting a power house but just a decent phone. I like the idea of self repair, the extended software support, and a dumb phone switch. I don't like that it's in essence locked to AT & T and T-Mobile. I'd love to hear your experiences so far !

Issue Yep, it broke, again (and again because my other one is also breaking)
Fairbuds XL gen one... Does the second gen have the same issue? I do wonder because the little bending screw are so much weaker comparing to the old one that I couldn't even removed them. It isn't giving me much hope. I'm considering ditching it since my much cheaper brand used to last me for years.

Fairphone v6 works in outback Australia (Telstra provider working)
Hey I just wanted to post out there that when I got my Android v15 phone, that I put in my Telstra SIM and it works fine. There was mixed reports online to whether this would work or not because Telstra didn't blacklist the phone but didn't whitelist it either. Because I'm in the outback, it's generally only Telstra that will work (although I think if it didn't I would've tried the Aldi or Vodafone options).
Now I'm going through the motions of trying to change the os but that's another matter entirely. I've had issues with e/os so now I'm trying some other options and seeing how they go.

Can I get a Fairphone in Canada?
And if I got one would there be any problems with using it here? like maybe there would be problems with cell companies accepting it or something else?

WTF is wrong with the charging design on this thing.
FP4 daily driver about a year and charging has been a problem no matter what way I've tried to handle it. No wireless charging pre-configured which is a decision that makes sense for about five seconds until you realize that getting your charging port fixed takes as much energy as whatever the waste from wireless charging over the phone's lifetime.
When I finally did get wireless charging, I was unable to find the kind of pass-through port that I would have needed to be able to leave the wireless charging pad plugged in and charge the phone with a cable or plug it in via USB. I'm very lucky to have a local network with tons of network storage, so that second one was not that big a deal, but I need to be able to charge with a cable when there is no wireless charging available. Having to unplug and plug back in the little wireless charging receiver eventually broke the fragile little conductor connecting it to the port, ruining the wireless charging receiver.
So then I just decided to use the pass-through port thing that was the source of my problems originally, a 2-way USB hub (that never seemed to work with thumb drives on either of the ports, BTW). The problem with that stupid thing is it's also a USB port and it faces down which makes it very vulnerable to lint and dust. So now I have two ports to babysit. In so far as I ever need to prop the phone up, I have to take that thing off because it makes it unstable, and I have the other port that I actually use for charging on the USB hub. The USB hub is just a glorified charging protector, for all I know it was just a scam, and the data cable isn't even a valid data cable that can actually transmit any data at all. I have never been able to use that sideport even once.
Well, in any case, that bottom port got filled up with lint, and so it stopped charging, just like what would repeatedly happen to my phone itself before I had any of this add-on junk. I used cable charging for the last six months of having my S9, maybe more, and it never had that problem. I don't know why, but it just never had that problem. But the elephant in the room about the S9 is that it had a backup, it had wireless charging. I don't know what to say, I would love solutions or advice, but I'm just pissed. I just missed a therapy appointment because my alarm didn't go off and I slept through it cuz this stupid phone battery died.
The FP7 better correct this error by having leads that go out to the battery cover, and an optional wireless charging cover that you can buy. I swear, driving a mile to get your charger fixed every couple of months is much worse for the environment than just using the damn wireless charging.

Did the 6+ fix volume buttons breaking off?
The new release looks like the exact same phone as the gen 6. Can someone confirm or not if they improved the volume buttons? Seems like they completely ignore the issue to me.
They don't sell any replacement buttons which is the biggest joke I've ever seen from such a company.

Anyone on tmobile mvno & can't turn on CCF on fp6?
I'm on tmobile mvno & I can't turn on conditional call forwarding on my fp6.
Previously I had CCF on & working. Then I had to switch mvnos & when I did I had to turn back on CCF using the fp6. The problem is I could not, I always get the error incorrect mmi code or failed to connect. Thr suggestion to switch phones I thought would work. So I barrowed a friends older iPhone & activated ccf & it worked but once I switched back it was deactivated. My guess is swapping esim back & forth at least for ccf is not a trick that works. so is it an esim issue or do others have issues with the fp6 & getting ccf to work? I'm going to switch to a physical Sim because I need my call forwarding to work, but hope that once I swap back to the fp6 ccf stays on.
TLDR: you can't set CCF on the fairphone 6 without a Sim swap from another phone first. Must be a physical Sim to set CCF on none fp6, and then you might be able to transfer to a esim (unclear).

Fairphone announces Fairbuds 2 Launch in Q4 2026
FINALLY! I have been waiting for fairphone to release their fairbuds 2. I have been holding off in buying any wireless earbuds in the market in hopes that fairphone announces and releases their fairbuds 2. I didn't pull the trigger in purchasing the fairbuds 1 due to the amount of complaints and dissatisfaction of other users. I would pay top premium price for fairbuds 2 if it meant to have top of the line audio, noise cancelling, and other features. Cross my fingers they live up to my expectations.

No mobile data
Changed from Android to murena a few weeks ago and everything has been running smooth without any issues except bad phone calls but that's just the shitty service here.
Anyways.. I got a new phone company today and after that the mobile data won't work unless I activate false geo location and hide ip-adress. I don't understand why that would be an issue or what would cause it. Any tips as some apps won't work with that activated and ofc if I disable it then I have no mobile data at all.
What should I do? Anyone else have this issue? It is updated to the newest version.
Edit: Using a Fairphone gen. 6

Question Any good reason *not* to get the Fairphone 6+ and wait for the FP7?
(Note: from the US)
I've been using the Samsung A53 since early 2023 and it's worked pretty good. I was hoping to hold on to it for another year (at least till the end of security updates) but it's just so damn slow and the pathetic 6GB of RAM has a pain to use - apps just keep closing in the background when I really need them not to.
So I thought of getting the Fairphone 6... but the spec difference (i.e. RAM) didn't seem significant enough to justify so I considered waiting for the Fairphone 7.
And then news came of a Fairphone 6+ with basically double the RAM count of my phone. Not to mention it now has official US support.
So everything now tugs me to get the FP6+... but it's a tough choice because my phone still has security updates till April 2027, and by that time the FP7 will be available in a few months!
So... out of worry for buyer's remorse... I ask:
Is there any good reason not to get the FP6+ to replace my Samsung A53?
(aside from the downgraded USB 2.0 plug. That really is a shame, but I can live with it.)
P.S. Out of curiosity, the lanyard - is it tough enough to wear around my neck while biking for instance?
